  • Resize Sense 2 introduces a redesigned resizing and cropping engine which offers even more flexibility than before, can perform more tasks in a single batch operation. It also adds a number of features often requested by users, and presents a significantly improved user interface.
  • In more detail:
  • A new highly requested feature: resizing to achieve the required maximum output file size on disk (in bytes).
  • Any cropping task can now be performed together with resizing, in a single step. Crop aspect ratio can be defined separately with all resizing types except the first two, that naturally restrict it. The cropped part plays the role of the original image when resizing.
  • There is no limitation on how small the cropped part can go, unless you choose not to save images that are too small for the requested size. If the cropped part is smaller than the requested size, it will behave just as a small original image.
  • Preview now shows either the final image or the original with crop rectangle, as you prefer.
  • When saving, it is now possible to replicate the original directory structure, starting from a defined location.
  • Use image IPTC/EXIF metadata in the saved file names.
  • Rename files within the application.
  • Bulk-edit the image resolution specification in the Info panel.
  • Significantly redesigned user interface, with a focus on convenience and clarity.
  • PDF User Guide delivered with the application.
  • Other minor improvements.
  • Bug fixes, mostly for OS X Lion.

  • Completely redesigned Image View with zooming support and other improvements.
  • Resized images can be saved by dragging them to Finder.
  • Resized image can be dragged to another application supporting image dropping.
  • Resized image can be copied to the system clipboard and pasted in another application supporting image pasting.
  • Images can be reordered in the browser. Combined with saving with sequence numbers, this can be used to reorder saved images.
  • The crop & straighten settings can be copied between images of different sizes. This is only possible with the Crop only resizing type, when the crop aspect ratio is not defined, and the image is not straightened.
  • Changed the demo mode restriction in the non-Mac App Store version. Images can now be saved with a watermark in demo mode.

New in Resize Sense 1.4.0 (Dec 11, 2012)

  • This major update brings the application batch resizing capabilities to a new level. Combined with other new features, Resize Sense becomes even more flexible than before, can perform a lot more work in a single batch operation.
  • In more detail, this update offers the following:
  • Saving presets. Save common file naming and format settings as custom user presets. Assign saving presets to your size presets to define how images of particular size should be saved. You can now save images in different sizes and formats in a single batch operation!
  • New resizing type Fixed Megapixel Count: define the required image size in megapixels.
  • New ways to handle small images: in addition to up-sampling or skipping them, you can now extend them with borders to achieve the desired size, or just copy originals. Copying originals saves you from manual management of small images in a batch.
  • Transparent borders (in addition to solid color) can now be added to the image to fix its aspect ratio or when it is too small.
  • Batch image flipping and 180 degree rotation.
  • Constrain original aspect ratio option in several resizing types. Disabling this option allows you to crop freely and resize in a single run.
  • Manual crop&straighten adjustment is now preserved (correctly adjusted) after rotation and flipping operations.
  • Copying, pasting, and resetting crop&straighten settings can now be performed both for the current and all size presets.
  • Saving in the original (automatically deduced) image format, or in a defined alternative if unsupported.
  • User preference controlling the default target directory when saving a single file.
  • Also the Mac App Store version now remembers the last used saving directory (only on the latest OS X systems). You do not need to choose the same directory multiple times.
  • It is now allowed to interrupt saving.
  • Many usability improvements.
  • Bug fixes.

  • High resolution Retina Display support. Fixed some important functionality such as cropping and mouse selection in Image Browser.

  • New solution fixing the changing image aspect ratio problem has been introduced. In addition to cropping and deforming, it is now also possible to extend the image with solid borders of a custom color.
  • User interface improvements:
  • Reorder presets in the Presets Management window.
  • Filter presets in the lists to quickly find those you are looking for.
  • Many predefined presets for common paper sizes are included in the bundle. They are automatically imported in the new installations, and can be imported at any time later in the Presets Management window.
  • Context menu in the image browser.
  • Bug fixes:
  • The "Fit to width and/or height" resizing type did not work correctly when only height (and no width) was defined.
  • In the Save Multiple Files panel, tokens sometimes were inserted into wrong locations when the name field contained spaces.
  • Illegal characters in output file names could cause problems when saving.

  • To satisfy users' requests, it is now always possible to crop an image, unless the user chooses to deform it instead of cropping.
  • A new special resizing type "Crop only" which allows to crop freely or with a defined aspect ratio.
  • It is now possible to copy&paste the crop&straighten configuration between images of the same size, making Resize Sense also a batch image cropper/straightener.
  • Support for images with transparency, such as transparent PNG.
  • Fixed possible problems with special characters in saved filenames.
