  • Learning Center:
  • New – Learning Center.
  • Quickly learn the basics, must-know Quicken concepts, and how to apply them to manage your financials. This content is always available, and you can bring it back and review it any time.
  • Investments Improvements:
  • Mutual fund price callout:
  • Mutual fund prices update after markets close. When Quicken identifies a mutual fund, an info icon appears next to the price when the latest price displayed is not from the most recent trading day.
  • See the latest market data:
  • When looking at your Portfolio while markets are closed, Quicken will automatically show the price change data from the last trading day. It will then automatically advance when markets reopen.
  • Asset Classes in Portfolio:
  • We changed the way securities with multiple asset classes are displayed. Securities with multiple asset classes will display within each relevant asset class alongside a new percentage label that indicates the proportion of the security that falls within that asset class.
  • Cash in Security:
  • When the funds include "Cash" as one of the asset classes in a mixture, Quicken now differentiates it by naming the asset class "Cash in Security." Renaming the asset class helps to distinguish between cash as an asset and the actual cash in your account.

New in Quicken 6.7 (Apr 28, 2022)

  • Dark Mode:
  • NEW - Quicken will now display, by default, in Light Mode or Dark Mode based on your macOS system settings. If you prefer, you can override this setting in Quicken > Preferences.

New in Quicken 6.6 (Feb 27, 2022)

  • Investment Improvements:
  • IMPROVED - The Investment Dashboard Top Movers card gets a couple of enhancements. First, we've changed the sort order so that the top gainers appear at the top of the list and the top losers appear at the bottom, sorted by the actual value. The new sort order makes it easier to see which way your portfolio is heading. Second, green and red pills appear behind the numbers to help emphasize whether you're up or down for the day.
  • IMPROVED - The Allocation by Security and Asset Class cards have also been improved. As the cards grow wider, additional columns appear, taking advantage of the extra space to provide you with more information. Additionally, the colors used for each asset class remain the same between accounts making it easier to spot the asset classes you care about when reviewing multiple accounts.
  • IMPROVED - For Buy and Sell transactions, Quicken has always calculated the share price based on the Total Cost and the Number of Shares. In version 6.6, you can now optionally choose to enter the Share Price and Number of Shares, then let Quicken calculate the Total Cost.
  • Touch ID, Improved Register Header, and Report Toolbar Improvements:
  • NEW - If you have Touch ID on your Mac or an Apple Watch, you can now use them to open your password-protected Quicken file.
  • IMPROVED - Quicken allows customers to sort their transactions based on a column. For example, if you want to see your transactions sorted by Payee, you can click the column header for Payee. Unfortunately, it wasn't easy to see which column was being used to sort the transactions. In 6.6, we've made this a lot easier. Now, the column header for the sorted column has blue lettering, and there's even a line at the top to make it obvious which column is controlling the sort.
  • IMPROVED - We've updated the Report Toolbar with two new options: Duplicate and Export. Now you can duplicate or export a report without opening it first. Finally, we've moved the Create New Report button that used to be in the report sidebar into the report toolbar, making it easier to find.

New in Quicken 6.5.1 (Dec 30, 2021)

  • FIXED - If Highlight accounts with unreviewed transactions was set, fixed an issue where unmatched, manually entered transactions would incorrectly cause the blue dot to display after downloading transactions.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where the holdings dashboard card displayed the wrong number of shares for options.
  • FIXED - Fixed other minor stability and quality issues.

New in Quicken 6.5 (Dec 24, 2021)

  • Our new 6.5 release is exciting, with many enhancements. This includes a new investment dashboard toolbar, account sidebar indicators, auto-reconcile, bill presentment, and bill pay.
  • Investments just got a whole lot better:
  • NEW - We've added a new toolbar to the investment dashboard. Change the date on the dashboard to see what your Holdings, Top Movers, and Allocation by Security and Asset Class were yesterday or even a year ago. Define the accounts to include in the dashboard when looking at Investments, Brokerage, Retirement, or Education account groups. You can update quotes, go to Account Settings, and hide cents using the Dashboard Cards.
  • IMPROVED - Our Dashboard Cards now expand horizontally and vertically to match the window so you can see more information. If the window is narrow, your dashboard will switch to a single column and you will see one card per row.
  • IMPROVED - The Holdings card is now wider so that you now can see the security name instead of the stock symbol. Also, both the Change (%) and Change ($) columns will appear if the card is wide enough.
  • IMPROVED - The Allocation Cards have been updated. You can now hover over the security name or a pie wedge to get more detailed information. We also display more pie wedges now that selecting a wedge is easier.
  • NEW - In the Securities window, you can now control the asset mix for each security, mutual fund, and ETF. You can let Quicken maintain and update the mix or define your mix manually.
  • IMPROVED - We’ve updated the look and feel of the security window. One key improvement was to reformat the date column under price history to improve readability.
  • EARLY ACCESS - We'll be turning on the ability to download market value numbers for roughly 800 more investment accounts. This includes Robinhood, M1 Finance, Fundrise, and others. You won't be able to see transactions for these accounts and in many cases only the market value will download rather than the individual securities, but including these accounts will help you more accurately track your net worth in Quicken.
  • We’ve made more improvements to our account sidebar indicators and auto-reconcile:
  • NEW - You can now choose to have the blue dot by your account indicate unreviewed transactions instead of new transactions. This helps guide those who want to review all their transactions. Click the three dots at the top of the account sidebar to choose.
  • NEW - For those who review transactions and use auto-reconcile, we've added an option to preferences that automatically marks manually reconciled transactions as reviewed but leaves auto-reconciled transactions as un-reviewed. This allows you to know which auto-reconciled transactions need to be reviewed and categorized.
  • NEW - In this release, we've added an auto-reconcile indicator in the account sidebar. This will tell you whether an account was successfully auto-reconciled after an Update or if the account still needs to be manually reconciled because the online balance did not match the Quicken balance.
  • Adding eBills has been completely rebuilt from scratch to improve reliability and performance:
  • NEW - Some eBills can take a long time to complete. Other eBills would not complete and fail instead. Our new Add eBill step-by-step process doesn't wait for everything to finish. It can now put an eBill in a pending state to be completed offline. The result of this change is eBills that were difficult to add before should now work.
  • NEW - Added a new Pending Tray to the bottom of Bills & Payee screens that lists all pending eBills. Keep an eye on the status of the eBills because some may need additional information from you to complete the process of adding them to Quicken.
  • NEW - The Add eBill process has also been redesigned to allow you to add multiple eBills from the same bill provider. For example, if you have multiple Chase credit cards you can add them all at once instead of adding them one at a time as you had to do in the past.
  • NEW - We'll automatically set up and propose a scheduled transaction to represent your bill. You can easily choose to edit or decline the proposed scheduled transaction.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where the Income scheduled transaction type would change to Bill when splitting the transaction.

New in Quicken 6.4.3 (Oct 28, 2021)

  • Charles Schwab account holders: Update now to continue downloading transactions from Schwab. We've been working with Schwab on a new, upgraded connection which improves performance, security, and reliability. You will need version 6.4.3 to take advantage of this new connection. The old Schwab connection will be discontinued soon, so please upgrade now.
  • IMPROVED - Made it easier for existing Schwab customers to switch to the new connection.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue that could cause transaction downloads to fail, which caused the update button to spin indefinitely.

New in Quicken 6.4.1 (Sep 28, 2021)

  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where the v6.4 What's New window wasn't appearing after launching Quicken.

New in Quicken 6.4 (Sep 28, 2021)

  • Continued improvements to the underlying technology used to connect to banks and brokerages:
  • IMPROVED - We’re updating the infrastructure used to connect Quicken to financial institutions, making it more secure and reliable. This is part of a long-term rollout that started in the last release.
  • IMPROVED - We’re also improving connections for specific financial institutions. Charles Schwab will be the first. More details to come.
  • Other improvements and fixes:
  • IMPROVED - In the category list window we’ve added a way to quickly see used, unused, income, and expense categories.
  • IMPROVED - Continued to make Dark Mode better.
  • FIXED - Scheduled transactions will now appear in the Reconcile window.
  • FIXED - Fixed minor stability, quality, and performance issues.

New in Quicken 6.3 (Aug 5, 2021)

  • 6.3 is here! We’ve made improvements to investments, budgets, reconcile, and... we’ve added a bit of darkness. Read on to find out more!
  • New investment dashboard and simple investment tracking:
  • NEW - The new investment dashboard gives you a quick glance at your holdings. It highlights the top movers for the day and provides an allocation view of securities and asset classes.
  • NEW - Many people find investment accounts complicated and overwhelming. For these customers, we've created our simple tracking option. Simple tracking lets you focus on the information that matters most. You don’t have to deal with the complications and hassle of tracking individual investment transactions.
  • IMPROVED - We’ve added one-week, one-month, three-month, and six-month options to the Portfolio Chart.
  • Budget detailed mortgage payments and auto-reconcile accounts:
  • NEW - You could always budget your mortgage payment if you used a loan payment category. Now, you can also budget your mortgage payment using a detailed scheduled transaction. Look for Loans (Detailed Payments) in the budget category picker and choose the loan payment you want to track.
  • NEW - We've made big improvements to our reconcile feature in the past two releases and this release continues to make advancements. In this release, we're giving you the ability to auto-reconcile online accounts. When you use auto-reconcile, if the online account balance matches your Quicken balance, your transactions are automatically marked as reconciled. Alternatively, you can set Quicken to notify you if the two balances match, and you can still manually review the transactions and mark them as reconciled.
  • Better indicators and notifications to be able to take action faster:
  • NEW - We've always had blue dots on the sidebar to indicate when an account had new transactions. Now, the Quicken sidebar will also notify you when there are issues with an account. Selecting a notification dot will bring up the account status window.
  • NEW - Because we believe many people will prefer our new sidebar indicators to the Activity Status window, we’ve given you the ability to turn off Account Status so it doesn't appear after updating accounts.
  • NEW - If there are issues with an account, a status banner will appear at the top. In most cases, there will be a button to start the process of fixing the account.
  • IMPROVED - We continue to get Care calls from customers who think they've lost transactions only to find out their register was filtered. We've changed the Clear Filters button from white to green to make it easier to see when your register is filtered.
  • New early access feature and the beginnings of Dark Mode:
  • NEW - We've created a feature called Early Access in which you can get an early look at new features before they are "officially" shipped. By selecting this feature, you will also be the first to be notified when we release updates. Check it out in Preferences.
  • NEW - The inaugural Early Access feature is Dark Mode. We've had a large number of customers ask for this feature, but we knew it was going to take multiple releases to complete. We're introducing Dark Mode under the Early Access banner with the understanding there continues to be a number of cosmetic issues that remain to be fixed but for many of you, the current state might be good enough. Let us know what you think or report issues by using the Report a Problem feature under the Help menu.

New in Quicken 6.2.1 (Jun 23, 2021)

  • IMPROVED - Improved account transaction download stability and reliability.
  • IMPROVED - Enabled dragging and dropping investment transactions from one account to another so it now works like other types of accounts.

New in Quicken 6.2.0 (May 16, 2021)

  • IMPROVED - We've redesigned Reconcile to streamline the design, remove unnecessary buttons, and feature the most relevant options. This unites Re-reconcile and Reconcile to give you more consistency across features.
  • NEW - Get faster and more accurate answers to your Quicken questions by using the new online, unified help. A single search location will deliver results from Quicken help documentation, Quicken Care FAQs and support documents, videos, and the Quicken Community. Because your help is online, it will always deliver the most up-to-date information we have.
  • IMPROVED - We're modernizing the technology we use to integrate with banks and other financial institutions to download and update your transactions. This is to improve the security, stability, and accuracy of your account data.

New in Quicken 6.1.1 (Feb 10, 2021)

  • FIXED - Fixed an issue in which Asset and Liability information was missing from the Accounts Summary report.
  • FIXED - Fixed issues with Report a Problem. The feature would fail if it appeared during Quicken launch or if comments were too long.
  • FIXED - Fixed a few minor issues in Reconciliation History and Re-reconcile.

New in Quicken 6.1.0 (Feb 1, 2021)

  • Ensure account balances match using our new reconcile tools:
  • NEW - Reconciling your account is a great way to ensure that your Quicken balances match your bank or financial institution’s balances, but even previously reconciled transactions can inadvertently get changed or deleted. This causes discrepancies. Starting in 6.0, all of your reconciled sessions were remembered, and you’ll be able to review them in the new Reconcile History window.
  • NEW - If you see a discrepancy in the Reconciliation History, you can now re-reconcile the session to review and fix issues. You can quickly get your account balance back to its previous, accurate status.
  • Save reports consistently:
  • NEW - Previously, some small report changes, such as expanding and collapsing categories, were saved even if you didn't intend them to be saved. Now, Quicken will always prompt you to save your report, so that you can be sure the changes are what you want. If you want to avoid the prompt, select the Save button on the report toolbar.
  • NEW - When prompted to save, you will also be given the opportunity to create a new report instead of saving the existing report.
  • See better information when you pay your bills, plus send checks in a new way (US Premier and above customers):
  • NEW - When you pay a bill using Quick Pay or Check Pay, you can now see the amount of your previous payment to that payee. This helps you better decide the size of your payment for the current bill.
  • NEW - For Check Pay, instead of sending your check using a specific Mail-on date, you can now choose the date you want your check to Arrive by.

  • An improved, modern design:
  • NEW - Quicken is now a Universal app which means it will take full advantage of the power and speed of new Apple Silicon Macs.
  • NEW - We removed the title bar and replaced it with a new Q button. The Q button is located on the right side of the Quicken window. Using the Q button menu, you can view your file name and access your Quicken account.
  • NEW - We restyled the quick access items at the top of the Quicken window to make them a more seamless, refined element of the design. You’ll still see easy-to-find links to key Quicken areas such as Home, Reports, Budgets, Bills & Income, Calendars, and Alerts.
  • NEW - We adopted Apple's standard icons for many of the toolbar buttons in Quicken to provide a more consistent and familiar experience.
  • NEW - In the register, we changed the Today line from blue to green to make it visible even when you've selected a transaction next to the line.
  • NEW - We revamped the Account Settings window so you can more easily manage your accounts.

  • IMPROVEMENT - On the Report toolbar, we changed the Customize button to an Edit button to better represent its purpose. Use Edit to change your date range, and to select accounts, categories, tags, or payees. You can also use Edit to define advanced report functionality for grouping, organization, and how to handle transfers and adjustments.

  • We've made a number of feature enhancements in bill pay, bills & income, budgets, reports, and the sidebar. You should also check out our updated system requirements.
  • New Activity tab for Bills & Income plus a new way to pay with Quick Pay and Check Pay:
  • NEW - Bills & Income has a new tab called Activity. Once you pay a bill it will move to the Activity tab. From there you can manage and monitor your paid bills. A blue dot appears on the tab when there's something new. The Activity tab replaces the Recently Paid and Recently Deposited sections under the Bills & Income tab.
  • NEW - The Online Payment tab in the register has been renamed Bill Pay and now includes support for Quick Pay and Check Pay, in addition to bank bill pay and intra-bank transfers, and displays your current eBill information when paying your Quick Pay bills. You can also use a calendar to choose the day you pay your bills.
  • Track transfers in budgets and expand or collapse all sections in a report:
  • NEW - We’ve added the ability to track transfers in budgets. This was one of our most requested features. You’ll find new Transfer In and Transfer Out sections in your categories.
  • NEW - We recently added the ability to print reports with expanded or collapsed sections. Now we’ve added an easy way to expand or collapse ALL of your report sections. • Better control over the display of accounts in the sidebar:
  • NEW - In the last release, we added the ability to specify display settings for an account and to mark them as hidden, closed, or separate. This changed the way they were grouped in the sidebar. Now, we've added the ability to completely hide these groups in the sidebar. Select the three dots at the top of the sidebar to change your account display options. This only affects Quicken for Mac. These accounts, even if synced, will continue to appear on Web and Mobile.
  • New system requirements:
  • NEW - This release will be the last version of Quicken for Mac that will run on macOS El Capitan (10.11) and macOS Sierra (10.12). The newer versions of macOS offer better performance, stability, security, and offer features that are required for the continued development of Quicken for Mac.
  • You may continue running Quicken for Mac v5.18 even if you don’t upgrade your macOS version, but connected services (such as downloading transactions) will eventually stop working as we upgrade technologies used to connect to financial institutions.

  • This is an exciting release with major enhancements to reports, bill payment, scheduled transactions, budgets, and accounts.
  • All-new reports center: a redesigned reporting experience featuring increased interactivity, better organization, and new reports:
  • NEW - The 5.17 update introduces a new Reports tab. Using the new Reports tab, you can search, open, and interact with your reports.
  • NEW - To make navigation easier and highlight popular choices, we’ve redesigned the organization of our reports. This includes creating new groups for Net Worth reports, Tax reports, and Transaction reports. We’ve also created a new Popular group that includes ten of the most common and useful reports.
  • NEW - To make it easier to read your reports, they now appear in individual windows rather than as a part of the main Quicken window.

  • NEW - You can now assign a payment method to a scheduled transaction. For example, you can now set a particular bill to always be paid using Quick Pay.

  • NEW - Scheduled transactions will now sync to the Quicken Cloud so that you can review your bills using the mobile and web apps.
  • NEW - The calculation we use to derive Today's Balance has changed. Going forward, this balance will now match the running balance in the register and include past-due scheduled transactions.
  • Improved account management: new Hidden and Separate accounts, improved budgeting, and improved sidebar:
  • NEW - You can now choose to exclude accounts from a budget. This helps you to create budgets that are more specifically tailored for your needs. The ability to select the accounts used for a budget was one of our most requested features.
  • NEW - Hidden accounts will now appear in their own group on the sidebar so they are easily accessible. This makes it easier to use All Transactions to search across every account, even ones that are hidden or have been closed.
  • NEW - We have added a Separate Accounts feature to improve support for tracking accounts that are outside of your personal, or primary finances. For example, you can use this feature to track accounts on behalf of a parent, child, or organization. These accounts will not be included by default in reports or net worth calculations.
  • NEW - You can now mark an account as Closed. Closing an account will zero out the balance, automatically move it to hidden accounts, and disconnect it from online services. Closed accounts will still be included in reports by default.
  • NEW - We have added a new control in the register so you can more easily adjust the scheduled transaction reminders you see in each account.

New in Quicken 2020 5.15.1 (Mar 26, 2020)

  • FIXED - Fixed a number of small Quick Pay and Check Pay issues.
  • FIXED - Fixed a number of stability issues that appeared in the release.

New in Quicken 2020 5.15 (Feb 29, 2020)

  • The 5.15 release adds the ability to automatically create QuickFill rules with payees, tags, memos, and amounts and also a new way to pay bills.
  • Our new QuickFill enhancement includes the option to auto-save categories, tags, memos and amounts.
  • NEW - In the previous release, changing a transaction's category created a QuickFill rule with a payee and category pair. In 5.15, we've added the ability to save all the key transaction fields including the payee, category, tag, memo, and amount. You can define what will be automatically saved using the QuickFill rule. To do this, select the down arrow next to the word category and change it to all fields in the blue tab that appears above the category field. By changing this setting, Quicken will work the same way it did in the past when the last transaction's data was auto-filled into new transactions.
  • IMPROVED - The checkbox to create QuickFill rules in the transaction register will now always be checked by default and won't remember the last change. This is to ensure that rules are automatically created without having to constantly monitor or manage this setting.
  • FIXED - Fixed a number of QuickFill issues such as accidentally creating duplicate QuickFill rules when merging payees and duplicate split lines.
  • New way to pay bills (Premier customers only):
  • NEW - Quicken is introducing the Quicken Bill Manager service to U.S. users of Quicken Premier and above. Quicken Bill Manager is a brand-new way to pay your bills, and features two payment methods: Quick Pay and Check Pay.
  • NEW - Quick Pay is a way to make payments from your checking account to your web-based billers for anything from subscription services, to insurance payments, to your credit card bill. True to its name, Quick Pay is fast, usually having your payment recorded with your biller within minutes. We have lined up over 11,000 billers, so finding your biller is quick and easy.
  • NEW - Check Pay is a service that works with your checking account, and can be used to send payments by check to anyone with a valid U.S. address. You can pay smaller companies, services, and even individuals, straight from Quicken. You designate the payee and the amount; Quicken creates and sends the check. You don't even have to pay for postage.

New in Quicken 2020 5.14.3 (Feb 29, 2020)

  • IMPROVEMENT - Added a step to optimize the size and performance of a file on upgrades.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where PRINT was removed from the check number field after syncing.

  • FIXED - Fixed a crash that impacted a handful of customers on file upgrade.

New in Quicken 2020 5.14.2 (Feb 29, 2020)

  • FIXED - Fixed an issue that would create a 0 amount split line in some transactions with payees associated with 0 amount, single split line, QuickFill rules. This resulted in 0 amount transactions in transaction reports.
  • FIXED - Decreased the minimum window size for more flexibility.

New in Quicken 2020 5.14.1 (Feb 29, 2020)

  • FIXED - Fixed a stability issue that could cause Quicken to stop working when viewing or changing the Row setting of a transaction report.
  • FIXED - Fixed a stability issue when downloading transactions.
  • FIXED - Fixed a stability issue when importing a Quicken Windows file.

New in Quicken 2020 5.14.0 (Feb 29, 2020)

  • QuickFill allows rules to be created to auto-complete transactions:
  • NEW - QuickFill will improve auto-categorization of downloaded and manually entered transactions. Changing a category will automatically create a QuickFill rule that will be applied the next time that payee is entered. Click the checkbox above the category to control whether a rule is automatically created.
  • NEW - 5.14 will no longer automatically save the transaction's tags, memo, or amounts because these tend to be specific to a particular transaction. However, if you want a tag, memo, or amount to always be associated with a payee you can add this to the QuickFill rule using Payees & Rules under the Window menu.
  • NEW - Refined the payee menu that appears as you type a payee name. Now you will see both the best payee matches as well as QuickFill items for the payees.
  • NEW - Quickly create new manual transactions by selecting a QuickFill item to automatically enter all the relevant transaction fields with one click. For example, you can define different QuickFill rules for the different types of items you always purchase at stores such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Costco. You can define whether that's groceries, electronics, clothing, or any other items typically purchased at each store.
  • Improved reports:
  • NEW - Added transaction report time intervals. Previously, a time transaction report would be grouped in one giant bucket for the entire report period. Now, you can define reports grouped by week, month, quarter, or other time interval.
  • NEW - Added Cash Flow and advanced transfer and adjustment capabilities to transaction reports.
  • FIXED - Changed the way the first interval of 2-week time interval reports are defined. The first day within the date range is now considered to be the beginning of the first week of the interval. The first week will be a partial week if that day doesn't fall on a Sunday.
  • New Renaming Rule features and other improvements:
  • NEW - Sometimes a Renaming Rule isn’t effective and you would rather get the payee statement name that comes straight from the bank or credit card company instead of a truncated name that may not mean much to you. You can now create a Do Not Rename payee rule.
  • NEW - In 5.13, auto-created renaming rules for payee names such as "check","atm", or "withdrawal" were blocked because they could potentially rename more transactions than expected. Now, you'll be given the option to create a rule but the renaming rule checkbox above the payee name in the register will always be off by default.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where some eBills stuck in error couldn't be fixed because multi-factor authentication (MFA) was broken and wouldn't appear. If you have an eBill with a red exclamation mark, click on the red exclamation mark to fix the issue.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where the day change for security quotes were incorrect on Mondays. This was only an issue with a couple of brokerages.
  • FIXED - Fixed a number of stability issues.

New in Quicken 2019 5.13.3 (Nov 24, 2019)

  • FIXED - Fixed a crash that would occur for a small group of people when clicking on loans.
  • FIXED - Fixed more crashes that could occur on macOS 10.11 El Capitan or 10.12 Sierra. One of these crashes occurred when viewing the investment security history list.
  • If you're on macOS 10.11 or 10.12, we encourage you to upgrade to a newer version of macOS for better performance, stability, and security.

New in Quicken 2019 5.13.2 (Nov 10, 2019)

  • FIXED - Fixed crashes that could occur on macOS 10.11 El Capitan or 10.12 Sierra.
  • If you're on macOS 10.11 or 10.12, we encourage you to upgrade to a newer version of macOS for better performance, stability, and security.

New in Quicken 2019 5.13.1 (Nov 10, 2019)

  • FIXED - Customers running macOS 10.11 El Capitan would sometimes crash when trying to merge payees with renaming rules. This would only occur for customers running macOS 10.11.
  • If you're running macOS 10.11, which is over four years old, please consider upgrading to a newer version of macOS. We have officially stopped supporting 10.11 but have NOT yet enforced this. At some point, in the not-too-distant future, customers running macOS 10.11 won't be able to upgrade to the latest version of Quicken Mac. Apple makes a number of changes and bug fixes in each macOS release and it's difficult to keep Quicken Mac working reliably on four different versions of the operating system. In addition, we primarily test on the latest two versions of the OS so issues like the one above will be missed from time to time.

New in Quicken 2019 5.13.0 (Nov 10, 2019)

  • File Import, Scheduled Transaction, and Other Improvements"
  • NEW - The new macOS Catalina does not allow 32-bit apps to run. This causes the local Quicken 2007 and Quicken Windows file converters to fail. To address the issue, Quicken Mac will now temporarily upload a file to a new cloud-based converter that will convert the file, transfer it back to Quicken Mac for import, and then delete it.
  • IMPROVED - We changed the way the Twice a Month scheduled transaction frequency worked. Previously, the first day had to be earlier than the second day which could cause past-due instances.
  • IMPROVED - We changed the way the Twice a Year scheduled transaction frequency worked. Previously, both dates had to be in the same year, but this did not make sense when the starting date was at the end of the year.
  • IMPROVED - Renaming rules are now grouped under a payee name in the Payees & Rules window.
  • IMPROVED - We removed the 32-character limit for Payees when a payee name is not associated with Bill Pay.
  • IMPROVED - Typing the letter P in the check field will automatically set it to PRINT.
  • IMPROVED The Attachments panel in the register now tells you that a file can be dragged to the panel to add the attachment.
  • IMPROVED Some payee names contain words such as Check or Withdrawal that could appear in many unrelated transactions. Previously, the option to create a renaming rule was turned off for these words because a rule could accidentally be created that was too broad and renamed too many transactions. Many found this to be too restrictive so now people are given the option to create a rule, but the option is turned off by default.

New in Quicken 2019 5.12.3 (Sep 11, 2019)

  • IMPROVED - Quicken now detects and displays a warning when the calculated loan payoff date doesn't match the actual payoff date. This might indicate that an adjustment transaction is incorrectly dated in the register or there is an error in the loan terms.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where an instance of a weekly, or biweekly, scheduled transaction that fell on the first week in January was incorrectly skipped.
  • FIXED - Fixed a crash that could prevent a file from being opened. This could occur in rare cases where an unsupported, complex scheduled transaction that contained one or more transfers failed to convert to our new scheduled transactions model.
  • FIXED - Fixed a crash that could occur when importing a Quicken 2007 file. This could happen in the rare case where the 2007 file had an unsupported scheduled transaction recurrence setting.

  • FIXED - Fixed an issue where the Quicken Support screen sharing tool (Help > Share Screen…) failed to launch on macOS 10.14.

New in Quicken 2019 5.12.2 (Sep 11, 2019)

New in Quicken 2019 5.12.0 (Sep 11, 2019)

  • Set renaming rules for better transaction payee names:
  • NEW - Renaming a payee will automatically create a rule so that you won't have to rename it in the future.
  • NEW - Go beyond the basics and specify detailed rules for payee renaming precision.
  • NEW - You can now define Payees that you don’t want renamed. The Payee name will stay as is when it comes from the bank.
  • NEW - Sync renaming rules so that mobile and web transactions are downloaded just like they are on Mac.
  • NEW - With the push of a button, rename existing transactions and correct past payee naming mistakes.
  • NEW - View, add, modify, or delete Renaming Rules in the new Payees and Rules window.
  • Redesigned scheduled transactions for simplified use and control:
  • NEW - Rebuilt scheduled transactions to simplify setting up bills and income transactions.

New in Quicken 2019 5.11 (Mar 12, 2019)

  • New Features:
  • NEW - In 5.11, we've added a way to customize the register text size and row height. Under the View menu, click on Register Text & Row Settings to change the text size. Making the text larger will make it easier to read. Making the text smaller will allow you to squeeze more information on the screen at a time. Previously, row height was in the View menu, but now we've added it to this same window, so you can make all the changes at once. While viewing the register, use CMD + or - to immediately grow or shrink the register text size. This change only affects the text used in the register rows and does not affect the text labels in the register forms or other parts of the application such as the Account sidebar.
  • NEW - Also in 5.11, we've added a new feature that allows you to transfer one security or all your securities from one account to another. By using this feature, Quicken will automatically create Remove and Add Share transactions in the respective accounts and maintain the cost basis information from one account to the other. Add a transaction as you normally would in your investment account and select Transfer Shares in the transaction type to start the process or click on the Transfer Shares button in the Remove Shares form.
  • NEW - 5.11 also improves reports. Under Summary Reports, there's a new None time interval. Selecting None uses the time interval defined in the customize report window as the basis of your summary report.
  • NEW - Added the ability to open an account in a standalone window from the thin sidebar. Click the Account menu, hold down the CMD key, and then select an account.

New in Quicken 2018 5.7.1 (Jul 23, 2018)

  • FIXED - Fixed an issue that caused some customers to crash when syncing a budget.

New in Quicken 2018 5.7.0 (Jul 20, 2018)

  • First off, performance. Launch times should be greatly improved. We also improved the performance of the portfolio view chart which was a little sluggish if you had lots of historical investment data.
  • We continue to refine our Bills & Income experience. If you haven't tried it yet, give it a try. The feature automatically updates your bills with the latest balance information so you can see how much you owe without having to go to the biller website. This is especially useful for credit cards and utility bills that change every month. You can also view and download PDF statements for top billers all from within Quicken. In 5.7, we've added the ability to refresh the Bills & Income view without having to do a full download of transactions and bills now tell you if they are waiting for the next bill so you know that Quicken hasn't downloaded the latest balance yet.
  • We also fixed a number of issues brought up here in the forums. For example, we fixed an issue where comparison reports with time periods of different lengths weren't quite working right. We also fixed a number of issues with dividends, interest income, reinvested dividends, reinvested interest, long-term capital gains and short-term capital gains where they weren't showing up in the All Transaction view and in reports. We also fixed the Gain/Loss calculations in the portfolio view when there were splits.
  • Some new things we added are the ability to set an investment account as a Roth IRA or Roth 401k. Also, we launched our new mobile app today which includes budgets.

New in Quicken 2018 5.6.5 (Jul 10, 2018)

New in Quicken 2018 5.6.4 (Jul 10, 2018)

  • IMPROVED - Reduced backup file size. This will increase the time it takes backup to complete but it should continue to be pretty fast.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue that prevented budgets from being printed if categories had a "$".
  • FIXED - Database update.

New in Quicken 2018 5.6.3 (Jun 17, 2018)

  • FIXED Fixed an issue where Quicken would hang as it tried to open a file. Unfortunately, the auto Mark As Paid feature didn't expect that scheduled transactions could end and therefore got stuck when it encountered one. A big thank you to Arthur, Jasmyn, Alex and others who reported the issue and worked with us to figure out a fix.
  • FIXED Fixed a number of small issues that could crop up when trying to add Capital One accounts.

New in Quicken 2018 5.6.2 (May 31, 2018)

  • IMPROVED - Quicken and Capital One are in the process of upgrading the connection type used to download transactions. Quicken for Mac v5.6.2 is required for this change. Over the course of the next month or so, Quicken will start migrating customers to the new connection type. This change will happen over time. When this change takes place, your Capital One accounts will stop working and you will get a 351 error. Click on the Sign In button in the Account Status window to fix the issue which will prompt you to enter your Capital One username and password. Check the box next to each of your accounts to reauthorize them even if they've already been added to Quicken.
  • FIXED - Fixed an issue in budget export where numbers over a thousand caused extra columns to be created.

New in Quicken 2018 5.6.1 (May 19, 2018)

  • FIXED -Fixed a report customization issue where all payees including hidden payees would appear in a report if no payees were selected. In 5.6, this setting was converted to use the new Any Payee feature, but it inadvertently excluded hidden payees. We're fixing this in 5.6.1 so that hidden payees will be included by default. Please review the Include hidden payees checkbox to see if it is set properly for your reports. A big thanks to Najmi for their help in figuring out this issue.
  • FIXED - Fixed a similar report customization issue for Accounts. Previously, if all accounts were selected then all accounts including hidden accounts were included. In 5.6, this setting was converted to use the new Any Account feature, but it did not include hidden accounts which meant the same report would have different results. In 5.6.1 when these reports are converted, they will include hidden accounts by default. Please review the Include accounts hidden in reports checkbox to see if it is set properly for your reports.
  • FIXED - In 5.5, we inadvertently allowed one to assign a Quicken-reserved investment category to a transaction which shouldn't have been possible. In 5.6.x, these categories were hidden so they could no longer be selected but this also meant that any transaction that used one of these special categories became Uncategorized. In 5.6.1, we're improving this behavior so that if one of these categories was used, we'll automatically create a new, user-defined category with the same name, but these will now be under a new parent category called Investments (Custom). If the transaction was used in an investment account, we'll first try to convert it to use the corresponding "Action" such as Buy or Sell, etc.
  • FIXED - Fixed a crash that could occur when clicking through menus while other windows were open such as the Account Status window.
  • FIXED - Fixed a crash that could happen when customizing report settings.
  • CHANGED - In 5.6, we changed the Y-Axis in the portfolio view chart to start at 0 to be more accurate to the actual account market fluctuations. However, a number of customers stated they liked the old design better because it was easy to see the changes in the account. We decided to go back to the previous design for now until we can make this a user-defined option in a future release.

New in Quicken 2018 5.6 (May 10, 2018)

  • Performance:
  • We’ve been focused on performance improvements throughout the product.
  • First, we looked at launch times. Quicken would take a while to launch if you had a file with lots of historical investment data. You should see an improvement from 30% to 50%. As part of this, we will also start to just download quotes for the securities you hold and not every security you’ve ever held.
  • Second, we looked at investments. Again, if you have a lot of investment data, loading investments would take a long time as Quicken tried to create the chart. Most will see some improvement here but it’s still not where we would like it to be but it should be faster in loading and in switching to other portfolio views. If investments continue to be slow for you, we recommend hiding the chart by dragging up from the bottom of the chart to hide it.
  • Reports:
  • One of the major changes we did was to make a seemingly subtle change in the Customize Report dialog to have 2 basic options for Account, Category, Tag and Payee items. In 5.6, you will choose to include any account, category, tag or payee or to only include the ones you select. Before it was tough to know whether you were including all transactions under a specific area or just the selected ones if all of them were selected. We also made other improvements in reports like displaying the data range and filter settings in the new reports. Also, foreign characters and emoji should export properly now which was an issue someone brought up here in the 5.5.x forum post.
  • Investments:
  • In investments, the portfolio view can now be printed and exported. This was a big request here in the forums. If you decide to print, consider using scaling to fit everything on a page or use Excel to get it looking exactly like you want to print it. You can now expand and collapse all securities in the portfolio view and all of this is remembered between different sessions. The number of shares can display more than 3 decimal places and the Y-Axis always starts at zero. This was a request from our CEO.
  • Bills & Income:
  • We also continue to improve the Bills & Income view. First off, you can now search for an eBill vs picking a payee first. This should simplify the process. You can add a payee from the Payee view and we made it easier to add Payees to the Bills & Income view by adding a column to the Payee List window.
  • General Fixes:
  • Finally, we improved the way transaction downloads work. Previously, Direct Connect accounts would block you from doing anything else while they were downloading transactions. Now, this happens in the background.

New in Quicken 2018 5.5 (Feb 6, 2018)

  • Improves support for Canadian customers, refines the Bills & Income view, fixes report and investment features and improves overall stability and performance across the product.
  • New Canadian Features:
  • NEW New support for Canadian categories and tax line items.
  • NEW Added a new Canadian Tax Schedule report.
  • NEW Added a new feature to be able to add back either US or Canadian default categories. Click on the gear icon in the category list to add default categories.
  • NEW Added a new preference to turn on US or Canadian features regardless of membership. This means that if you're a US member but are actually Canadian, you can turn on Canadian features. This also means if you're a Canadian member but have US bank accounts, you can turn on US features like Bill Pay.
  • NEW When creating a new file, Quicken asks if you want US or Canadian default categories for those who have turned on both US and Canadian features.
  • IMPROVEMENT The Edit Category dialog can now be resized to help with tax line item assignment.
  • IMPROVEMENT A category can now be defined as being tax related without requiring an assigned schedule and tax line item. This is useful if tracking city, state or provincial tax items that are not currently supported in Quicken.
  • IMPROVEMENT Canadian members who have investment accounts classified as an IRA, 401K or other US account type are notified that they can be changed to a Canadian account such as TFSA, RRSP or RESP.
  • Scheduled Transaction, Bill Pay and Bills & Income Improvements & Fixes:
  • NEW Added new Payee view in Bills & Income. Go to the Payee view to quickly pay a bill for a particular payee. Quicken automatically displays eBill payees in this view but you can decide which payees appear by clicking on a checkbox in the Edit Payee dialog.
  • NEW Added the logos for payees that have eBills.
  • NEW Added a status column to Bills and Payees to notify people if there is an eBill error. Click on the exclamation mark in a red dot to find out more about the issue.
  • IMPROVED Refined the overall look of Bills & Income.
  • IMPROVED The amount for a cancelled bill payment will automatically be added to the memo field for tracking purposes.
  • FIXED Fixed a number of issues in Bill Pay. Bill Pay will now let you know if a bill payment has to be moved because of a holiday. In addition, Bill Pay will now take the financial institution's last submission time into account when setting a date. Previously this wasn't used and people could set a date that was earlier than the financial institution could handle.
  • FIXED Fixed an issue where creating a new scheduled transaction by clicking on the Scheduled checkbox in the date picker would set the starting date 1 month in the future instead of the current date.
  • FIXED Fixed an issue where the Pay Now menu item didn't work.
  • Report Improvements & Fixes:
  • NEW Added the ability to save a comparison, summary and transaction report as a custom report. This means you can start with an existing report instead of being forced to create a new report from scratch.
  • NEW Added the ability to add the Action column to transaction reports.
  • IMPROVED Quicken will now remember column widths in the transaction report so long memos won't make it difficult to read the report.
  • IMPROVED Transaction drill down works again. The row will highlight and clicking a transaction will pop-up a register window with the transaction selected.
  • FIXED Fixed an issue in the transaction report where split memo items weren't appearing. Now both parent and split memos will appear.
  • FIXED Fixed an issue where the check# didn't appear in the printed or exported transaction report.
  • FIXED Fixed an issue in the Tax Schedule D report where the gain was sometimes reported incorrectly when the buy and sell occurred on the same day.
  • Investment Improvements & Fixes:
  • NEW Added Opening Price to the Price History dialog.
  • NEW Opening Price is now updated when quotes are downloaded and also imported from a CSV file.
  • IMPROVED Improved the accuracy of the portfolio view graph.
  • IMPROVED Improved IRR calculations. Previously Quicken wouldn't calculate an IRR if you didn't hold the security at the beginning of the period. Now IRR appears as long as you held the security during the period.
  • IMPROVED Previously the Market Value in the top banner of investment accounts was independent of the filter for the portfolio view. Now this number matches the selected accounts and currency for the portfolio view.
  • General Improvements & Fixes:
  • IMPROVED Drastically improved the performance of auto-saving a backup file when quitting Quicken.
  • IMPROVED Improved auto-categorization.
  • IMPROVED Improved the Clear button. On views where there are multiple accounts, the clear button would always appear. Now the Clear button only appears if the default filters are changed.
  • IMPROVED Changed the way the running balance column works in the transaction register. Previously the balance number would be hidden if sorting by any column other than date and CLR. It was also hidden when the transaction list was filtered. We received a number of calls from customers who were confused by it being hidden. The running balance column is calculated and reflects the balance based on the sort order of the transactions when viewing them and is not a static number tied to a particular transaction.

New in Quicken 2017 4.6.0 (Sep 22, 2017)

  • Version 4.6 has a number of feature and stability improvements:
  • NEW: The biggest change is the move to the new Quicken ID and Quicken cloud. After launching Quicken, you will be asked to create a new Quicken ID. You should be able to use the same email address and password that you used for your Intuit ID.
  • NEW: Quicken Connect transactions will now be delivered via the Quicken Cloud. Quicken will setup your accounts so your transactions continue to download without having to re-enter your banking credentials. This only affects Quicken Connect accounts.
  • NEW: As part of this change, Quicken Connect accounts will now download transactions in the background meaning you can continue use Quicken. Direct Connect accounts including all investment accounts do not currently download in the background.
  • NEW: Moved stock quote updates to download in the background.
  • NEW: Added support for multiple Cloud accounts using the same Quicken ID. This means you don't need different IDs for each file.
  • NEW: There's a new mobile app. You will need a new Quicken mobile app to continue seeing your data. Go to the app store associated with your mobile device to get the latest Quicken mobile app.
  • In addition to Quicken Cloud features, we also made improvements throughout the product:
  • NEW: Added the ability to set the sidebar to display online balances.
  • NEW: In preferences, you can now set the number of files to keep when auto-backing up. You can even set it to save all backup files.
  • IMPROVED: Added the ability to disconnect a web connect account.
  • IMPROVED: Added the ability to assign Quicken Bill Pay to an investment account.
  • IMPROVED: Improved the Loan view. In the header, we now display decimal places for the balance and added a drop down to switch between Today's, Projected and Online balances.
  • IMPROVED: Also in loans, the calculation has been improved for any loan where the compounding period is less than the payment period which is the case for auto loans. If auto loans didn't work for you in the previous release, try it again.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where loan balance adjustments weren't being added.
  • FIXED: Fixed the loan balance progress bar so it includes only what has been paid.
  • FIXED: Fixed a number of issues that would cause a crash.

New in Quicken 2017 4.5.6 (Jun 5, 2017)

  • IMPROVED: In the loan details screen, added the ability to pay from an investment account.
  • FIXED: If the category preference was set to short names, fixed an issue where typing a colon to add a sub-category would result in the first sub-category being incorrectly selected.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where quotes would start downloading after clicking Pay Now using Online Bill Pay.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where online bill payments would sometimes be off by a penny due to a rounding error.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where changing the loan Next Payment date wouldn't always update the scheduled transaction date.
  • FIXED: Refined a data integrity fix that updated old transaction totals to match the sum of their splits correcting a previous bug. In some rare cases, this fix incorrectly changed transaction totals to match an incorrect single split amount resulting in an incorrect account balance. In 4.5.6, the customer will now be notified of any changes and the fix will only change totals for transactions with multiple split lines. Single split lines will have their split amount changed to match the transaction total. In addition, this fix will auto-correct any transactions that may have been negatively altered by the previous update if they have single splits and transfers.

  • More fixes to loans for a few thousand people.

New in Quicken 2017 4.5.3 (May 10, 2017)

  • Fixed issue regarding loan length weirdness.

New in Quicken 2017 4.5.2 (Apr 29, 2017)

  • LOANS:
  • Added the most requested customer feature... Loans. In this first iteration, we focused mostly on fixed rate mortgages.
  • Some of the features you'll find are:
  • More loan providers - You may have noticed this already but we've increased the number of loan providers included in the list of financial institutions you can download from. Now you can even connect Quicken Loans which always seemed crazy that we didn't support it even though it's an entirely different company.
  • Auto-Updating Loan Scheduled Transactions - Detailed scheduled transactions that update interest and principal every month based on the customer's loan details and amortization schedule.
  • Graphs - Lots of graphs to see when your loan will be paid off and an estimated total interest paid compared to principal.
  • Liability Account Conversion - Loans in the past were liability accounts. We kept this account type so if you want to continue tracking your loans this way you can. However, you will now be able to convert liability accounts to the loan feature by clicking on the Convert to Loan sheet that appears the first time you go to a liability account or if you click the Convert to Loan button in Account Settings.
  • Updated file converters - Both Quicken 2007 and Windows file converters have been updated to import loans from those products.
  • IMPROVED REPORTS:
  • New Transaction Reports - We just enhanced this by adding new transaction reports for category, tag, payee, account and time-based.
  • Improved uncategorized transaction handling - In the new reports, uncategorized transactions will now be grouped by the sign of the amount. Positive values will be included with the income transactions and negative values will be included with the expenses.
  • IMPROVED SPLITS:
  • We got a lot of complaints about splits getting into a mode where it would change the first split line even after you’ve edited it which was clearly frustrating. There are 3 split modes: Total, Refine First Line and Remainder. If the transaction total amount is 0, then Quicken will sum the amount of the splits and update the total. The Refine First Line mode is useful when one basically wants to categorize a few items but the bulk of a purchase is the same. For example, if you typically go to Walmart for groceries but occasionally buy clothes or something else you may want to pull out just those non-standard items and categorize them separately. In this case, you want the first split line to be Groceries and its amount should decrease with each split line added. Quicken goes into this mode if the transaction total is > 0, the first split line is not edited and there are initially only 2 split lines meaning this is a new split. All other times, splits are in remainder mode where a remainder split line is automatically created if the total amount isn't reached.
  • We added a new feature to adjust the transaction total to the sum of the current split values. If you increase the amount of an existing split line, a remainder split is created that basically subtracts the amount you just added which can be frustrating. This might happen if you decide to increase the amount of extra principal you pay for a month or adjust a paycheck split transaction to match actual amounts. In this case, most would want the total amount to adjust. We've added a "minus" button to the remainder split line so you can delete it. This will automatically change the transaction total value.
  • IMPROVED BUDGETS:
  • Clicking New Budget will now start the budgeting process.
  • Quicken now asks you the starting month and year when creating a budget.
  • Going to the budget view should default better especially when your budget doesn’t start in January.
  • When moving the budget view to a period where there currently isn't a budget defined, Quicken will automatically ask if you would like to create a new budget using the previous budget, historical data from the previous year, or to start from scratch with zero values.
  • Fixed an issue when editing a budget that spans into the next year where the year was not displaying for the month of January.
  • IMPROVED AUTO-BACKUP:
  • A backup is saved only when a change has been made.
  • A progress indicator appears when saving the backup file. Saving the backup can take a few seconds to complete. In the past the progress indicator wouldn't appear so most didn't realize Quicken was still running while saving the backup. This makes it much clearer what is happening.
  • Added a new preference that will change the backup behavior. Instead of automatically saving a backup, Quicken will ask every time before saving a backup.
  • IMPROVED REGISTER FILTER BEHAVIOR:
  • We’ve changed the behavior for the filter bar in the register. Now the Reset Filter button won't appear until one is in a filtered state. Also, a giant red X has been added to the button which should make it more obvious when one is in a filtered state. The issue is that many times customers didn't realize they were in a filtered state and thought they had lost transactions which can be scary. Now it's pretty obvious when one is in a filtered state.
  • FIXED LOTS AND LOTS OF BUGS:
  • We added blue dots to the sidebar representing newly downloaded transactions a few releases ago and continue to improve the way they work. We added a preference to mark reconciled transactions as reviewed. Fixed an issue with Web Connect accounts. They will now work as connected accounts. Also, fixed a number of transaction count issues that would occur when transactions were automatically matched.
  • Fixed the transaction download count in the Account Status window for Quicken Connect accounts. Previously auto-matched transactions weren't being counted.
  • Fixed a long standing issue where exporting the tax report to CSV didn't include the schedule D items.
  • Fixed a crash and hang that would occur when importing Quicken 2007 and Windows files.
  • Improved the reliability of online bill pay transactions by adding a number of checks that will make sure payment information meets certain criteria before attempting to process the transaction. Also fixed an issue a Quicken Bill Pay issue that would occur when linking to a Financial Institution that supported both Direct Connect and Quicken Connect connection types.
  • Fixed an issue where old download and sync error messages continued to appear in Quicken even after they were resolved.
  • Fixed an issue where cost basis values didn't appear in the realized gain view.
  • Fixed an issue where dragging a transaction within the register would result in the amount changing if it had a complex split with transfers.
  • Fixed an issue where accounts hidden from reports were also excluded from transfer and account register field pop-up lists.
  • Fixed an issue where the Intuit ID didn't appear in the About Box after signing in as a different user.
  • Fixed an issue where customizing the report will auto-collapse all of the rows.
  • Fixed an issue where renaming a category or action to the same name as another item caused the UI to be unresponsive.
  • Fixed a crash if a payee account number matches the phone number that had been paid by multiple users.
  • Fixed an issue if you had a problem logging in, it would display a dialog to re-enter your credentials.
  • Fixed a budget sync issue.

New in Quicken 2017 4.4.3 (Jan 24, 2017)

  • Without this update, connected services (such as transaction download) could stop working. Upgrade now!
  • Fixes a bug in 4.4.x that caused bond interest income transactions from NOT being added to the account register.
  • Fix for online bill payments. In some cases, modifying an online payee name that included an "&" or some other non-standard character, would block a bill pay transaction from completing. Unfortunately, this would also fail silently potentially causing a bill to not get paid.

New in Quicken 2017 4.4.2 (Jan 14, 2017)

  • Quicken for Mac 2017 v4.4.2 is a critical release that is required before the Quicken cloud is updated in a few weeks. There's a change in the service that will cause Mac clients to become inoperable after a transaction download if certain conditions are met. Please upgrade as soon as you can. The only change in 4.4.2 is this fix.

New in Quicken 2017 4.4.1 (Dec 20, 2016)

  • Added:
  • Auto-Backup – This is the number one requested feature from our quicken.com voting page. We’ve implemented a basic version of this for now. You can set the location and we’ll automatically maintain the 5 most recent files. Backup kicks off after one quits. Let us know what you think.
  • New Transaction Account Sidebar Indicator - Blue dots now appear on the sidebar to indicate which accounts have new transactions. Note that we decided to implement this in a way that it works independently of the “reviewed” status of transactions. The idea is that we didn’t want to force people to review their transactions. Hovering over the blue dot will display the number of last downloaded transactions. This number isn’t always reliable so in the next release we’re going to improve the count.
  • Orange Pencil Fix – You can now mark the orange pencil as reviewed and eliminate them. Yeah! We fixed a bunch of stuff in this area. The orange pencil doesn’t show up on new transactions in manual accounts since all transactions are manual. We didn’t want to retroactively dismiss the orange pencils but you can use the new Mark All as Reviewed feature to get rid of them with one click. In downloaded accounts, you can also Mark all Downloaded Transactions as Reviewed which doesn’t affect the orange pencil. The work flow we envision is that people will want to clear all their blue dots after reviewing them but they won’t want to clear the orange pencils so they can see what transactions haven’t been matched yet. However, if you really want to hide the orange pencil you can do this now by clicking on it and selecting Reviewed.
  • Preference to Turn Off Auto-Opening Splits - We’ve added a preference so you can turn off auto-opening of splits in the registers and/or the reconcile screen. They are 2 separate preferences so you can keep it on in the register and turn it off in reconcile or define whatever combination you want.
  • We also made a bunch of report enhancements:
  • Export or Copy from Report – We added the export feature to the new comparison and summary reports so you can move the report into a spreadsheet for further analysis or better printing.
  • Print Scaling – Speaking of printing, we added the ability to scale a report in the print dialog so you can get more on a page. It’s probably not as flexible as many of you want but it’s a step in the right direction.
  • Summary Report Total Column - We added a total column to the summary report.
  • Prior Period – We added a new comparison report custom date option called Prior Period. We had Prior Year Period which works great if you want to compare between 2 years but sometimes you also want to compare with the previous period. For example, this month and last month or this quarter and last quarter.
  • Comparison Report Difference Column Style Changes – We’ve been trying to figure out the right way to color code the difference column and to display the right sign. The goal is to allow people to quickly spot issues that need to be addressed. We’ve gone back and forth on what to do. With the help of our beta testers, we’ve decided to color code “good” things as green and “not so good” things as red. What this means is that if your income increases or if you spend less in a category the difference will be green. If you make less income or spend more, the difference color is red. We have also decided to hide zero values to reduce visual clutter and allow one to quickly see only the line items that change. We also wrestled a lot with the sign. Other products turn expenses into positives in this report. This works for category reports that have the concept of income and expense but doesn’t really work for tag or payee reports. Because of this, we decided to keep it simple and keep expenses as negatives in this report and to not try to manipulate the math.
  • This release also has tons and tons of other stuff too including some great bug fixes:
  • We used to have an Edit Budget limitation where we didn’t allow editing a budget 2 years out from the current year. This didn’t make any sense so we eliminated that limitation.
  • We found a reconcile bug that had to do with manually entered transactions that get matched or posted after the reconcile period. This is fixed in 4.4.
  • We found a bug in our payee name code which could result in weird payee names occurring when we convert them from what the bank sends us to something more understandable. This should be a lot better in this release.
  • Fixed the top crashing issue including one that occurred when clicking on a future scheduled transaction in the calendar view. Thanks to the forum customer who described his hypothesis on why it crashed.

  • FIXED: Fixed a long standing issue where securities from the same company couldn't be manually entered because Quicken would get confused between the two. For example, selecting GOOGL would get changed to GOOG.
  • FIXED: Fixed another long standing issue where Quicken would double count cash balances in some brokerage accounts because cash was held or reported as a security. This occurred in a number of professionally managed accounts.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where the net worth amount appeared over the label after shrinking the sidebar.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where the reconcile flag wasn't being recorded on transfer to buy transactions imported from Quicken 2007.

New in Quicken 2017 4.2.1 (Oct 18, 2016)

  • HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Compare your income and spending year over year with custom reports
  • Customize your budgeting goals month-by-month (12-month budget)
  • Pay your bills in Quicken with Quicken Bill Pay (fees apply)
  • Get more power on-the-go with the improved mobile app
  • Enjoy a new look that’s easier to use and navigate
  • IMPROVEMENTS:
  • The first and most obvious is a new user experience that separates accounts and features. The accounts remain on the sidebar but we’ve moved features such as home, reports, budgets, bills, calendar and alerts to the top of the window which is similar to Quicken for Windows. In fact the 2 products share a similar color scheme to unify the look and feel across different desktop platforms. We decided to move features to the top of the app window because many first time users and converters didn’t notice and didn’t expect our features to be on the sidebar so we believe this will improve discoverability and general usability.
  • We have new reports providing the ability to create comparison and summary reports. You can customize these reports by defining the rows and columns, accounts, categories, tags and payees.
  • We have also improved bill pay. Quicken 2017 now includes both bank connect bill pay and Quicken Bill Pay the paid Quicken service that allows you to pay bills from almost any bank including small regional banks and the ability to pay anyone. We heard a number of Quicken for Mac 2007 customers were holding out for this feature.
  • Improved mobile app capabilities including an investment portfolio view, offline editing and deeper search on the device.
  • And this doesn’t include all the features we shipped for free to owners of Quicken 2016 through out the past year including 12-month budgets, built-in Quicken Windows file import, tax information export, investment portfolio time machine which allows you to see historical portfolio values and a new more accurate reconcile.
  • Quicken for Mac 2017 runs on Sierra and will import Quicken Essentials files which unfortunately stopped working on Sierra. For those of you who are techy types, Quicken Essentials used an old memory management system which macOS Sierra no longer supports which is why it stopped working.
  • NEW:
  • Compare your income and spending with custom reports:
  • Choose the accounts and time period you want to see and we generate the reports
  • Pay your bills in Quicken, now with Quicken Bill Pay (fees apply):
  • Pay your bills from most banks, including small, regional banks, now with Quicken Bill Pay (fees apply)
  • Get more power on the go with our improved mobile app:
  • See how your investments are doing whenever, wherever
  • Enter transactions manually even if you’re not connected to the internet
  • Search transactions by check number, category, amount, tag or note/memo
  • Enjoy a new look that’s easier to use and navigate:
  • A refreshed look that’s easy on the eyes and you don’t have to learn anything new
  • Upgrade with ease:
  • Convert from Quicken Windows to Quicken Mac with one click
  • Import data from older Quicken versions with one click (Quicken 2015 for Mac or newer, Quicken Mac 2007, Quicken Essentials for Mac)

New in Quicken 2016 3.5.2 (Aug 22, 2016)

  • FIXED: Fixed an issue that would prevent bill pay from working when updating a selected account. This worked for updating all accounts.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue that turned intra-bank transfers to manual transactions for a few banks.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where bill pay transactions could no longer be matched to manual or scheduled transactions.
  • FIXED: Fixed a crash that occured in reconcile when a balance adjustment was 0.
  • FIXED: Fixed an issue where hidden accounts would incorrectly reappear after updating account.
  • CHANGED: Changed the way the starting month is set for budgets. Now the starting month can only be set when a budget is created. Quicken no longer allows changing the starting month after a budget is created.

New in Quicken 2016 3.5.1 (Aug 4, 2016)

  • We're getting ready for the future:
  • In order to support future development we need to make database changes. This means that after you've opened your file with Quicken for Mac v3.5 you won't be able to go back and use this file in earlier versions. However, we will automatically save a backup file for you using the old format in case you have to revert back to v3.4. You can find this file by going to the Show Backups in Finder menu under Help.
  • A brand new Reconcile experience:
  • We've completely revamped the Reconcile feature. The new Reconcile feature calculates the beginning balance based on all uncleared transactions which is what Quicken Windows and Quicken 2007 does. This will result in a more accurate reconcile experience that makes sure your Quicken balance actually matches your online or statement balance. In the previous reconcile feature, your Quicken balance was not actually used in the reconcile process and could result in errors. This may mean that the first time you use this new feature you'll discover discrepancies that have always existed but weren't obvious when using the old reconcile feature. To quickly fix this, click on the gear icon to Start Fresh or Add an Adjustment.
  • NEW: Choose to reconcile against an online balance or paper statement.
  • NEW: Display only uncleared transactions.
  • NEW: Check or uncheck all transactions with one click.
  • NEW: Added payment and deposit columns in the Reconcile register.
  • NEW: Added payment and deposit totals in the reconcile screen.
  • IMPROVED: Clear column renamed to Clr so that the column can be narrowed.
  • We continue to make improvements to 12-Month budgets:
  • NEW: Added the ability to duplicate an existing 12-Month budget instead of starting from scratch.
  • NEW: Added highlighting in the budget view to easily see category and month for a particular budget value. You can turn this off or change to a different option by going to Preferences.
  • NEW: Added a light blue highlight behind top level categories so it's easier to review budget numbers in the budget setup screen.
  • IMPROVED: Completely overhauled the budget setup quick fill menu. Now we support actual two month and quarterly fills and also display calculated values in the menu so you know what number will be added before you try to add it. Also changed the key commands for fill forward and back.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where categories using emojis in their name weren't being exported. Spreadsheets don't deal well with emojis, so you'll now see the category with a character code replacing the emoji.
  • BUG FIX: Budget view now remembers whether you expanded or collapsed particular categories.
  • We fixed a number of Portfolio View issues:
  • IMPROVED: Greatly improved portfolio view performance. Most are seeing at least a 200% speed increase.
  • IMPROVED: Changed investment portfolio so that the number of shares display up to 6 decimal places. (This was a request from kelly1, smayer97, rgw2012, jacobs, billp, canuckguy, and m.c.crockett in Quicken Live Community).
  • IMPROVED: Quicken will automatically add price history for buy and sell transactions if there isn't current quote data for a particular day. This should result in improved charting.
  • IMPROVED: Portfolio view can now expand and fill the entire width of the screen.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where the security name would overlap the disclosure triangle if the name was really long.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue in Portfolio View where the disclosure triangle would open multiple securities when in investment, brokerage, retirement or education views.
  • BUG FIX: Improved an issue where the chart would show spikes or dips due to stock splits or purchases.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where short sells and covered calls didn't appear in reports. (Thanks to Mr. Cribb for tracking this down and working with us to fix the issue.)
  • BUG FIX: Fixed the day change value for mutual funds when using Update All (Thanks to jtarver for bringing this to our attention).
  • We continue to make improvements and stability fixes throughout Quicken:
  • NEW: Added ability to create Quick Category and Tag reports by right clicking (CTRL+Click) on a transaction and selecting Report [Category or Tag].
  • IMPROVED: Dramatically reduced file size by eliminating unused data backups stored in the file.
  • IMPROVED: Eliminated width restrictions in reports so they can now expand and take up the full width of the screen.
  • IMPROVED: Updated Category, Tag, and Action screens to be consistent with Payee and Securities.
  • IMPROVED: Continued updating help to bring inline with new features.
  • CRASH: Fixed a crash that could occur when importing from a really old version of Quicken Essentials.
  • CRASH: Fixed a crash that could occur in the new Reconcile window if you deleted the starting balance from the “Use Statement Balance” section, switched to “Use Online Balance”, then switched back.

New in Quicken 2016 3.4.1 (Jun 2, 2016)

  • Refined the 12-Month Budget feature:
  • NEW: Stacked Layout View. A number of customers mentioned they wanted an option to see more months on the screen at one time. The new stacked layout view achieves this by placing Actual values above the Budget number allowing column widths to be narrowed. This does mean each category is taller so you may need to scroll up and down more. Set the budget layout by clicking on the Gear icon and changing the preference.
  • NEW: Export and Copy Budget. There is a new Export button in the budget view. Clicking this button will display a menu to export either the summary or full budget to a CSV file or to simply copy it to the clipboard to paste into Excel or another product. Use this feature to print the budget or to do further analysis.
  • NEW: Summary Budget Detail Pop-Up. A pop-up appears when clicking on budget items in Budget view but didn't work in the Summary area. In 3.4 we've added the same pop-up to the summary area so you can get details on the category totals.
  • NEW: The summary area now has a light gray background to distinguish it from the rest of the budget.
  • Made a number of small customer-requested changes in other parts of Quicken:
  • NEW: "Tiny" Register Row option. This allows you to see more lines in your register.
  • NEW: Changed the way we display share amounts in the Portfolio view. Previously, we displayed all shares with 2 decimal places. Now we're a little smarter about this. Whole numbers appear as whole numbers and if there are decimal values we will max out at 3 decimal places instead of 2.
  • Bug fixes:
  • BUG FIX: Fixed a calculation error in % Day Change values in portfolio view.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue in the calendar view running balance where today or overdue bill reminders were not being included in the balance calculation.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed an issue where the Portfolio Time Machine calendar drop down would appear off screen in full screen view.
  • BUG FIX: Fixed a full-screen budget view issue where the screen would go black after cancelling or saving on the Select Categories screen.
  • CRASH: Fixed a crash that could occur if logging into Intuit ID and going to preferences before sign in completed.
  • CRASH: Fixed a crash that could occur when undoing a check number change.
  • SOLUTION: Figured out an issue reported on Quicken Live community where reports were appearing on app launch causing Quicken to hang. This would occur when some Payee names were blank which should never happen. Go to Quicken Live Community and search for "opens extra windows" to read more and to get a tool to fix the issue.

New in Quicken 2016 3.2.1 (Mar 25, 2016)

  • Investments:
  • Calculation correction to adjust bond face values to align with Quicken Windows
  • Cash Balances now appear in Portfolio View for cash-only investing accounts
  • Links in Portfolio View now display the Security Detail properly
  • Windows Converter:
  • Fixed problem with transfer-transactions, now they don’t duplicate or become unlinked
  • Fixed a problem with file password prompt that created a hang-condition
  • Added ability to convert very old Quicken Windows files
  • Fixed conversion issue that rendered Transfers as “Uncleared”
  • OFX Bill Pay:
  • Improved Online Transfer process to allow credit card payments to properly display as Transfer from banking to credit card
  • Fixed a problem that caused website Bill Pay transactions to fail the Manual Match process in Quicken (which created duplicate transactions).
  • General:
  • Added better hot-key support for Dates (W, K, M, H, Y and R)
  • Fixed an OS-specific problem that prevented Reprint Checks from actually printing the checks
  • Fixed crash conditions that occurred at Update Accounts, Delete Category, generate large report, or Update (sync) Direct Connect Bill Pay transactions
  • We found a couple of issues in 3.2 that we're fixing in 3.2.1:
  • Crash: We fixed a crash that occurs in the background and may happen at anytime when using Quicken. For performance reasons we sometimes run background tasks like downloading the user's latest email address or the list of financial institutions Quicken works with. This bug would occur when 2 of these tasks conflicted with each other.
  • Bug Fix: In 3.2, we added support for paying a credit card using Direct Connect Bill Pay while setting the Transfer field to the credit card account. Unfortunately, we made a last minute fix to this flow that actually broke the way this worked, leading to confusion and a bad user experience. Thanks to hfm, jeffreyroark3379 and JBB for reporting these issues in the release forum post so we could find and fix quickly.

New in Quicken 2016 3.2.0 (Mar 18, 2016)

  • INVESTMENT FIXES:
  • Change: In the past 6 months bond face values started appearing incorrectly in the portfolio view for some customers. The reason for this is that some financial institutions changed the way they sent bond information to Quicken resulting in incorrect bond face values. Because of this we've changed the way Quicken calculates bond values which should result in the correct bond value being shown for the vast majority of bonds. However, this change does mean that a small number of bonds such as savings bonds will no longer work correctly. Unfortunately we can't support both. This brings Quicken Mac's bond calculations in line with Quicken Windows. (Thanks to all the Quicken Live Community users that pointed out this issue including mvitulli, and ocashery7.)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue that was introduced in 3.1 where cash balances wouldn't appear in the portfolio view chart if there were no other transactions. (Thanks to sterthai and genestaggs for reporting this issue in the forums.)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where links in the Portfolio view to security detail pages were displayed incorrectly. (Thanks to J. Pilger for bringing this to our attention)/
  • QUICKEN WINDOWS CONVERTER FIXES:
  • Bug Fix: Fixed Quicken Windows file conversion where transfers were duplicated and in some cases lost because of data issues in the original Windows file. (Thanks to our beta customer osmoc88 for helping us track down the issue.)
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where canceling a file password prompt during Quicken Windows file conversion could cause Quicken to hang.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed any issue where Windows File Import could fail with very old Quicken Windows files.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where previously reconciled transfer transactions that were imported from a Quicken Windows file could be incorrectly set to "uncleared" during import. (A big thanks to Mr. Zachman who shared his files and worked with us to track down the issue.)
  • DIRECT CONNECT BILL PAY FIXES:
  • Enhancement: Direct Connect Bill Pay has been improved to better support transfers. In 3.2 users can now pay a credit card via Direct Connect Bill Pay and also classify this as a transfer. Previously, transfers had to be between accounts within the same financial institution.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where pending Bill Pay transactions entered at your financial institution's web site would fail to match manually entered transactions in Quicken resulting in a duplicate transaction.
  • ERROR MESSAGE FIXES:
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where customers received a generic message "error communicating with server" if they entered in the incorrect challenge answer in account setup. The proper error message will now appear. A big thanks to Stephanie for helping us figure out the issue.
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where an account lock out because of too many incorrect password attempts wouldn't get reported to customers.
  • OTHER IMPROVEMENT AND FIXES IN 3.2:
  • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where reprinting checks when using 10.11 (El Capitan) resulted in blank checks being printed. (Thanks to Resurrected from the Quicken Live Community for reporting this problem.)
  • Crashes: Fixed multiple issues that could result in a crash including a crash that could occur while updating accounts, after deleting a category from the category list, while generating large reports, or while syncing Direct Connect Bill Pay transactions.
  • Enhancement: Support repeated use of date hot keys:
  • There are 6 date hot keys: W for beginning of the week, K for end of the week, M for beginning of the month, H for end of the month, Y for beginning of the year, R for end of the year
  • In 3.2, you can repeatedly press this key to increase or decrease the week, month or year. For example, if you press the letter R today, the date will change to 12/31/2016. If you press R again it will change to 12/31/2017. Pressing the letter R will continue to increment the year.

New in Quicken 2016 3.1.0 (Feb 17, 2016)

  • NEW FEATURES:
  • Now you can export Category Summary and Tax Schedule reports to a CSV file (compatible with Excel, Numbers and other spreadsheets). We've received a lot of requests for this one. Bonus TIP: You can always export transactions from you Quicken registers to CSV files. This especially powerful when combined with the Search and Filtering capability already in the registers. For example, you could filter by a date range, limit your search to just Payee names and, boom, you have an instant Payee report. You'll find the export option in the File menu: File > Export Selected Transactions to Excel File (CSV).
  • Mac Only Quicken Windows file conversion and import!* Now, finally, you can convert your Quicken Windows files (.QDF files) to Quicken Mac 2016 without Windows! The Windows to Mac conversion and file import now happens seamlessly on your Mac. No need to have access to a Windows computer or create a transfer (.QXF) file. All you need is your Quicken Windows (.QDF) file. Note that this Mac Only import process is not currently available to customers who purchased Quicken for Mac 2016 in the Mac App Store. Apologies to our App Store customers. We are currently investigating whether we can bring the new file conversion process to the App Store version. In the meantime, App Store customers can continue to use the existing File Conversion Utility.
  • Improvements to Direct Connect Bill Pay:
  • Direct Connect Bill Pay Customers can now receive messages and service alerts from their bank right in Quicken. If your bank sends you a message you’ll be notified on the Account Status window after you update your accounts. You can also check for mail at any time by selecting Window > Bank Messages. (Note that this menu item will be available and active only if you use Direct Connect Bill Pay and have messages to read.)
  • Improved error reporting on the Account Status window. If you run into problems, the Bill Pay error message now links directly to the appropriate Help topic.
  • You can now setup a Scheduled Transaction to be a Bill Pay transaction (without getting that weird "%@ Is Not Enabled” error). Note: This is still just a Scheduled Transaction (a reminder in Quicken). You still must Enter and the Send the transaction when your bill becomes becomes due. Creating the Scheduled Transaction alone does not send any Bill Pay instructions to your Bank.
  • Fixed an issue where a transaction could be shown as “Sent” but also in an Error state (That's confusing! thanks to Jim from Quicken Live Community for pointing this out).
  • Fixed text on the Online Payments tab in the register that said "Processing" for transactions that were actually "Paid”.
  • Online Bill Payment check numbers now display in the Check Number field (Thanks Beta tester, macuser_22). Note that not all banks return a check number.
  • Quicken 2007 files that previously had Bill Pay transactions in an Error Recovery state can now be imported (thanks to Beta tester, deanesfield).
  • Online Transfers are now included on the Send Payments window.
  • DOWNLOAD QUALITY FIXES:
  • "Clean up payees" preference is now respected for Quicken Connect accounts (Thanks to Beta tester, kbw4)
  • Fixed an issue where transaction download could time out before completing.
  • Fixed an issue where some customers saw a “generic error” when attempting to download.
  • Fixed an issue where some customers received “Error 185” even after entering correct credentials to an MFA challenge.
  • Fixed an issue where customers of Direct Connect banks that require a PIN change on first use were being prompted to change their PIN more than once.
  • Fixed a number of issues that could result in duplicate transactions when switching connection methods (Thanks to J Eiechorn, M. Vitulli, T. Swingle, muddiwater and many others). For example:
  • Switching from a Quicken Connect to Direct Connect.
  • Switching from Direct Connect to Quicken Connect.
  • Importing a QFX file and then connecting via Quicken Connect.
  • LOT OF CRASH FIXES:
  • Fixed 13 different crashes that could occur in multiple contexts—importing a QIF file, updating quotes, sending a Bill Pay Transaction, while using the cash or investing register, while dragging a transaction to a different account and more. Thanks to EVERYONE that sends a Crash Report after experiencing a crash. When you launch Quicken after a crash you will be prompted to send a crash report. These reports are anonymous (entering your email in the report form is completely optional). These reports are the primary way we discover and fix crashes. So if you see the form, please click send. Thanks.
  • AND MORE FIXES:
  • Reconcile Starting and Ending Balance no longer defaults to a negative number. Note that you should always enter whole numbers (no negative signs) even in Credit Card accounts. Using a negative number will make it impossible to reconcile properly. Big thanks to all of you that brought this to our attention.
  • Scheduled Transactions should now match to downloaded transactions.
  • Transactions entered in manual accounts will no longer display the "Manual transaction" pencil icon (since all transactions are entered manually).
  • Fixed an issue where Reinvest Dividend transaction totals were inflated in the exported TurboTax (.TXF) file (thanks to gNeil and JM in Quicken Live Community).
  • Fixed an issue where account values could mysteriously disappear in the sidebar (thanks Beta tester, ctquinn).
  • Fixed an issue where Today's Gain/Loss amount on All Investments Portfolio view was inaccurate because it did not include all accounts. (Thanks to Beta Tester, cowgs)
  • Fixed an issue where past due Scheduled Transactions did not always display in the Calendar.
  • Fixed an issue where the Import option for Quicken Essentials and Quicken 2015 files was not working properly.
  • Fixed an issue where Opening a Quicken Essentials or Quicken 2015 backup didn’t always perform the correct setup steps.
  • Fixed an issue where importing a Quicken 2007 account could result in transactions going to wrong register.
  • Fixed an issue where shares for Option transactions could be incorrectly calculated.
  • Fixed an issue where importing an Investment QFX file could result in only placeholder transactions being imported.
  • Fixed an issue with the display of Investing quotes "Last Updated" time on the Portfolio view.
  • Fixed an issue where Day Change on the Portfolio view showed in the wrong color if the account had a negative balance.
  • Fixed an issue where Day Change and Today's Gain/Loss amounts on the Portfolio view were not getting updated if two securities had the same ticker.

New in Quicken 2016 3.0.5 (Feb 11, 2016)

  • Security Update: Enhanced the security of the Software Update window (shown when an update is available)

New in Quicken 2016 3.0.4 (Jan 22, 2016)

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Quicken from importing certain Quicken 2007 files. Quicken could crash and/or display a message that said “An error occurred while preparing the file to be imported”. Customers that experienced this error should now be able to import their 2007 file.
  • Fixed an issue where Quicken could crash after editing a transaction in the register.
  • Fixed issues where downloading or syncing could show errors 500, 502, 503, or 504.
  • Added a feature that allows you to revert to the original Payee Names provided by your financial institution. This will change any “cleaned up” Payee Names supplied by Quicken (or any name you entered manually) back to the original Payee Name sent by your financial institution. To use this feature:
  • Select one or more transactions in your register.
  • Control + Click on the selected transaction(s) and choose "Revert to Downloaded Payee Name” from the contextual menu.

New in Quicken 2016 3.0.3 (Jan 22, 2016)

  • Fixed an issue where sending an Direct Connect Bill Pay payment could show error “2005_Description”
  • ixed an issue where opening a Quicken 2015 file in Quicken 2016 could show duplicate transactions in Direct Connect accounts that support Bill Pay.
  • Fixed an issue where using special characters in the name of an Direct Connect Bill Pay payee could show error 400.
  • Fixed an issue where switching a Wells Fargo account from Quicken Connect to Direct Connect could show error 409.
  • Fixed an issue where future-dated investment transactions were incorrectly affecting portfolio and market value calculations.
  • Fixed an issue where the Net Worth Over Time and Spending Over Time reports sometimes didn’t show the final month if a custom date range was selected.
  • Fixed an issue where the footer of a printed report or register would be upside down when using OS X 10.11 (El Capitan).
  • Fixed an issue where new transactions downloaded in Quicken Connect accounts for an existing payee didn’t always use the category that had been used in the past for that payee.
  • Fixed an issue where MiscExpX transactions imported from a Quicken Windows file were always uncategorized.
  • Fixed an issue where accounts could sometimes be incorrectly renamed during mobile sync or when downloading a Quicken Connect account.
  • Added an “FI Id” register column that displays the FITID of a transaction for troubleshooting purposes. Choose the View > Columns (...) > FI Id menu item to make it visible.
  • Removed the amount displayed in the top-right corner of the register when viewing the Spending or Income tabs to avoid confusion. The amount was labeled “Net Worth” but the calculation was more complicated than that.
  • Quicken will no longer show the “Alerts” item in the sidebar if mobile sync is disabled.
  • For new accounts, Quicken will no longer recalculate the opening balance adjustment if transactions are added with the same date as the date on which the initial download and balance calculation occurred.
  • Added a tooltip for opening balance adjustment transactions to describe how the adjustment amount is calculated. Adding, deleting, or modifying transactions dated prior to the date reported in the tooltip will recalculate the adjustment amount.
  • Alert notifications (“High Spending” etc) now have a “Close All” button to close all alerts.
  • When editing a transaction, you can now type “Transfer” in the Check #column to configure the transaction as a Direct Connect transfe.

New in Quicken 2016 3.0.2 (Dec 19, 2015)

  • Updated the product tour that’s shown the first time you open Quicken

  • Fixed an issue where the Quicken Windows converter (running in Windows) was unable to open a Quicken file

New in Quicken 2015 2.7.0 (Nov 4, 2015)

  • Required Security Update:
  • The security of our products remains our top priority at Intuit and we will continue to invest to ensure our products have industry-leading protection. As such, we are implementing a required update to our login process to safeguard customers’ sensitive information.
  • Customers using Quicken for Mac 2015 v2.6.3 or earlier will be unable to login to Quicken after Secure Login is enabled.
  • To ensure uninterrupted usage of Quicken for Mac 2015, you MUST install the latest 2.7.0 (or later) version.
  • Why do I need to install this update:
  • In 2.7.0, we updated our sign-in and sign-up process to enable an additional level of login security called Multi-Factor Authentication or “Secure Login”. The goal of Secure Login is to make it more difficult for an unauthorized person to access a computer, network or database. If one factor (such as a password) is compromised or broken, the attacker still has at least one more barrier to breach (such as an email account or access to the target’s mobile phone) before successfully breaking into the target.
  • Beginning in November, all customers will require Quicken for Mac version 2.7, which supports Secure Login, in order to access Connected Services such as transaction, balance, and quote download.
  • What is Secure Login:
  • When Secure Login is enabled in the coming months you will be required to enter a security code the first time you use Quicken Connected Services (for example, when updating your accounts).
  • You will be prompted to login with your Intuit ID and then you will be sent a security code via email (or mobile phone if you’ve added a mobile phone number to your Intuit profile). You must then enter this security code in Quicken before proceeding with your download.
  • Do I have to use Secure Login each time I update my Accounts:
  • No. You will be asked once after Secure Login is first turned on. After that, you will only need to complete Secure Login about every two weeks or if you start using Quicken on a different computer.
  • Do I need to do anything in preparation for Secure Login:
  • Just make sure you include your preferred email address and/or mobile phone number in your Intuit profile. You can update your email address by following these steps:
  • In Quicken 2015, choose the Quicken > Preferences menu item.
  • Click the Connected Services icon in the Preferences window toolbar.
  • Click the Update Email or Intuit ID link to open the accounts.intuit.com web site in your web browser.
  • You can also visit Quicken Profile Management (accounts.intuit.com) in your web browser.
  • Security and privacy are fundamental to the design of all our products. We appreciate your patience and partnership during this fundamental but necessary security update.
  • For more about tips and security awareness measures, visit Intuit Security (security.intuit.com).

In 2.2 we detect that the “other side” of the transfer already exists and it becomes a linked transfer (rather than creating a duplicate).
