  • The plug-in area now can operate in compositing windows (Mac).

  • Workaround to a 4Dv12 bug (fixed in 12.1) that prevented the display of video in the video acquisition dialog.

New in QPix 3.5 (Jan 30, 2009)

  • Acquisition from multiple sources:
  • Acquisition of photos from digicams (video clips too, on MacOS X), capture of pictures from webcams and camcorders, as well as traditional scanning using a wide range of personal or high-end document scanners with automatic document feeder, double-sided scanning and transparency option.
  • JPEG transcoding:
  • Lossless rotation of JPEG images and other operations.
  • Multi-page TIFF/PDF generation:
  • Combine a series of source image files or 4D pictures into a multi-page TIFF file (using PackBits, CCITT G3/G4, or no compression) or into a multi-page PDF file.
  • Multi-page TIFF/PDF printing:
  • Print any multi-page TIFF or PDf document directly from QPix's File menu without writing any code.
  • Image metadata:
  • Read access to several kinds of image tags: TIFF, Exif, GPS, IPTC, QuickTime.
  • New formats:
  • Kodak PhotoCD, Scitex CT, multi-page PDF (native on Mac OS X, with AFPL Ghostscript on Windows).
  • Enhanced brightness and contrast filter:
  • Escape's replacement for QuickTime's incorrect and buggy brightness/contrast filter (MacOS and Win).
  • Extended information:
  • Individual frame information: find out if an image frame represents a page, resolution, layer, or thumbnail.
  • Color information: color space and color profile.
  • Compressed picture information: find out if a picture is compressed by QuickTime, the codec used, and the compression depth and quality.
  • Thumbnails:
  • High-level commands to extract the embedded thumnail from images that contain one, e.g. EXIF JPEG and TIFF.
  • New thumbnail commands create high quality thumbnails from image files, pictures, and graphic importers, using QT6's bicubic interpolation.
  • Exporting:
  • Source image tags and color profile can be copied from the source image into the exported image.
  • Progress dialogs:
  • Progress dialogs can be displayed during long importing, exporting, creating thumbnails, creating multi-page TIFF or PDF files, and acquiring images. The delay before a progress dialog is shown can be controlled by the developer through plug-in options.
  • Plug-in area enhancements:
  • Redesigned Advanced Properties Dialog

  • Miscellaneous:
  • New, generic QPx_SetOption and QPx_GetOption commands provide access to various internal plug-in settings.
  • 4D and OS compatibility:
  • QPix 3.5 is compatible with QuickTime 6 or later (most recent version recommended) and 4D versions 2004.7 and 11.3 or later, on MacOS 10.4x and Windows XP/Vista.
  • With 4D 11.3, QPix 3.5 works natively on Intel-based Macintosh computers.

New in QPix 3.5 Beta 6 (Dec 4, 2008)

  • The QClientHelper component is no longer necessary.
  • It seems to be safe to run QPix under 4D's native threading mode on Mac OS X, meaning that fiddling with 4D's Info.plist is not necessary.

New in QPix 3.5 Beta 5 (Aug 1, 2008)

  • Implemented plug-in area scrolling with the mouse wheel.
  • Added support for setting the scanning resolution of TWAIN drivers that only support TW_RANGE data for the respective capabilities (quite rare).
  • Various minor fixes.
