  • Updated for Mountain Lion.
  • Desktop changes posted to Mountain Lion Notification Center so you can get info about your current desktop with a swipe.
  • Sharing a link to a pic will use Mountain Lion's new sharing facilities if available.
  • Closing main window no longer quits the app.
  • Bug fixes:
  • Twirly when receiving new image was not always disappearing.
  • Status bar looked wrong with Mountain Lion.
  • Note: Pic-a-POD is no longer compatible with OS X 10.6.x but if any users are still using 10.6, please email me and we can work something out.

  • Selecting a recent iPhoto pic from the Recent Desktops menu now correctly shows the selected pic.
  • Better indications of downloads:
  • • if the large pic is still to be downloaded, the thumbnail is greyed out with a twirly to show it cannot be used yet.
  • • download progress for large pics now more accurate.
  • Direct link to App Store in Help menu for adding reviews or ratings.

  • Bug fix: Sources menu was not showing anything, so it was impossible to change the selection of PODs.
  • New feature: If you have more than one day's worth of pics showing in the main window, clicking the forward and back arrows under the calendar will move forward and back by that number of days, giving you a more complete refresh.

  • Recent Desktops menu shows the last 10 desktops, allowing easy access to recently used pics.
  • The Dock menu now has an entry for deletion of the current desktop pic.
  • Keyboard shortcuts have been added to all the windows - check the Help for details.
  • Bug fixes:
  • Deleted pics were stopping future updates.
  • Info window was not cycling past deleted pics.
  • System version was being checked too often.
  • Dock menu entries are now truncated if they are really long.
  • Astronomy pics should no longer show their default thumbnail, even if the Astronomy web site has not been fully updated.

  • New:
  • The Pic-a-POD window will now fill with pics, going back in time if required.
  • To adjust the number of pics shown, change the size of the window.
  • This is particularly useful if you like to get only one or two pics per day or if you have a large monitor.
  • Bug fixes:
  • Stopped occasional crash when setting desktop.
  • No longer gets data for unwanted sources.
  • Google+ button now enabled & disabled correctly.
  • Reduced memory usage.
  • Mouse scroll wheel now works correctly.
  • Fixed minor update & date display issues.

  • Not all Macs had the image down-sizing utility, so fixed to work either way. Fix for change to Nat Geo pics.

  • Large Wikipedia pictures were not downloading. Fix for some images too large to display on Mac.

New in Pic-a-POD 1.2.10 (Apr 2, 2010)

  • Some National Geographic pictures were coming up blank - should now be fixed. Earth Science was only getting smaller pictures.

New in Pic-a-POD 1.2.9 (Jan 25, 2010)

  • National Geographic changed their format but their pictures are now back online - manually load any missing pictures after 17th January. Double-click to select a picture's caption. Right-click to re-download a caption. Thursday 21st January, 2010
