What's new in PhotoTiles 1.2.10

Apr 24, 2016
  • Maintenance update

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.9 (Feb 6, 2015)

  • Help menu link to the website has been fixed.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.8 (Jan 27, 2015)

  • Maintenence update for latest Mac OS.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.7 (Jan 4, 2014)

  • Update for Mavericks

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.6 (Mar 5, 2012)

  • Added a Help menu.
  • EXIF data is now ignored when opening images.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.5 (Aug 11, 2011)

  • Added two new preferences in the "Output Format" pane of Preferences: "Flip Horizontal" and "Flip Verticle." These options reflect the image cells around the image-centered verticle and horizontal axes, respectively.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.4 (Apr 26, 2011)

  • When saving files, if the option to replace existing files was selected in the save dialog, the old file was not replaced by the new version.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.3 (Mar 24, 2011)

  • The background color of the reflected image is now set to the selected background color of the cell, alleviating the need to make the background color whie for the feature to look good. (See screenshot on black.)
  • Fixed a bug: the reflected image was upside down.
  • The reflection (which currently can not have its default parameters changed as in TransformPicture) has been modified to be more subtle, mimicking the look of Quick Look in the Finder when on a black background. In TransformPicture lingo, the "steepness" of the transparency gradient has been increased.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.2 (Jan 30, 2011)

  • A new option has been added to the "Output Format" pane of Preferences named "Include Reflections."
  • When this option is selected each cell image will have a reflected image with a transparent gradient generated and appended to the bottom of the original image so it looks like it has a slight reflection.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2.1 (Oct 16, 2010)

  • The Preferences window has been significantly improved for clarity and ease of use. Instead of using one single panel to contain all the various options for the program, they have been collected into named groups using a tab control. This helps you find and understand their function more easily. The new tab groups are: Cell Geometry, Cell Attributes, Movies and PDFs, and Output Format. None of the preference options or their effect has changed.

New in PhotoTiles 1.2 (Oct 12, 2010)

  • New: You can now output the tiled image as a PDF document, rather than an image type file (JPEG, TIFF, etc.) This has the advantage of encapsulating the full resolution images in one PDF document, rather than as thumbnails sized to the chosen cell size. And, as a PDF, you can then annotate the PDF as you like, say in Preview. Select this option, labelled "Output PDF File," in Preferences; it is OFF by default.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.11 (Jul 25, 2010)

  • New: Image cells can be rectangular, not just squares. Instead of specifying cell dimensions as a single number for both width and height, you can specify width and height independently.
  • New: An option to derive the cell size from the dimensions of the images, PDFs, or movies being tiled. In each case the "first item" is used to get the cell dimensions, so this option is best when they are uniform in size.
  • New: Added a new slider control to Preferences for scaling the given cell dimensions. Although this is intended for use in conjunction with the previous feature, it applies to manually specified cell dimensions also.
  • Enhancement: The method of fitting an image tile into a cell has been improved so that you can create a tiled image in which all the cells fit tightly, with no spaces between them. ( If you want space between cells you can change cell dimensions or specify an inset.)

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.10 (Jul 2, 2010)

  • Tiled PDF files, when tiled as PDF pages, now supports setting cell background color, cell framing, page framing and labeling by page number, formatted with font name, size and alignment (just like when the PDF is tiled as images.) Note: Imaging a PDF as tiled PDF pages puts every PDF page of the original document into cells of a given size in a single page PDF.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.9 (Jun 28, 2010)

  • Add a new option to Preferences enabling the creation of a tiled single page PDF document when tiling the pages of a multi-page PDF document (rather than outputting an image type document, such as JPEG or TIFF.)

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.8 (Jun 20, 2010)

  • Maintenance update: fixed a small memory leak.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.7 (May 25, 2010)

  • Added support for the Google Chrome web browser to tile web browser page graphics.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.6 (May 10, 2010)

  • The cell label can now be aligned left, right and center. Specify alignment in Preferences; center alignment is default.
  • When filenames are derived from URLs (say if the image files were downloaded off the Internet) "percent escapes" are replaced, i.e. the name is decoded.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.5 (May 4, 2010)

  • Enhanced support for more fonts when drawing labels in cells.
  • The defaults have been changed so that: cells are larger, filenames are included, font color does not match background cell color, and the tiled photo opens automatically.
  • Fonts are sorted so that they are listed alphabetically in the new font menu on OS 10.4.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.4 (May 3, 2010)

  • Added a method to choose the label font from a menu in preferences. (This is used when the option to display filenames or comments of images within each cell is selected.)
  • Added support for Flock and Opera, and fixed Firefox support. (This is used when imaging the graphics of a web page. Use "Phototile Browser URL" from the File menu to apply this function to the front window of the browser.)

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.3 (Mar 30, 2010)

  • You can now display the Spotlight comment of each image file in the tiled image, with or without the filename. Select this option in the Preferences window.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1.1 (Mar 7, 2009)

  • Support for tiling the pages of a PDF file has been added.
  • In the save dialog box the default image quality is now "High" rather than "Normal."
  • In the save dialog box the default filename is chosen to match the name of the (movie or PDF) file.

New in PhotoTiles 1.1 (Mar 5, 2009)

  • Added option to tile the images from the right side to left side of the tiled image (previously added option to tile from top to bottom.)
  • When the option to open generated images or image maps the program is brought back to the front of all other applications.
  • Modified some help tags in the preferences window and added a hint that such tags are available at the bottom of the window.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.9 (Jan 26, 2009)

  • New Feature:
  • In the case of "folder drops" an option in the preferences window enables you to create an HTML file containing an "image map" for the tiled images.
  • The "href's" for the map elements are taken from the comment of each corresponding file. If there is no comment the href is set using the "file://" scheme.
  • The default filename of the HTML file is of the form : "[Tiled Image Name]_ImageMap.html"
  • In the case of "folder drops" the default name of the tiled image is now taken from the display name of the folder of images dropped on the program.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.8 (Jan 21, 2009)

  • A new menu item labeled "PhotoTile Browser URL" will tile the images on the current web page.
  • Supported browsers: Safari, Camino and OmniWeb.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.7 (Dec 9, 2008)

  • You can now specify the number of columns in the tiled image using a text field. This removes the 25 column restriction. This way you can have as many columns in your tiled image as you like.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.6 (Nov 10, 2008)

  • Improved memory management for better performance.
  • The "Quit" and "Stop" buttons were not working during movie frame tiling.
  • The "frame count" function was counting non-video media samples resulting in more image extractions than necessary.
  • When a frame range was specified, the program would continue to step through the movie when the range end was reached (although frame extraction did indeed end.)

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.5 (Sep 19, 2008)

  • You can now specify the color of the image and cell borders (when the option to draw either is selected.)

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.4 (Sep 17, 2008)

  • Added an option to to tile the image from "top to bottom", i.e. draw the image tiles from the top of the tiled image to the bottom.
  • By default the tiles are drawn from bottom to top. Specify this option in the Preferences window.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.3 (Aug 25, 2008)

  • You can now specify the font color of the cell filenames. Set this option in the Preferences window.
  • Bug fix: The background tiled image background was not being set for movies.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.2 (Aug 21, 2008)

  • You can now specify the background color of the tiled image. Set this option in the Preferences window.

New in PhotoTiles 1.0.1 (Jul 14, 2008)

  • Added support for movie files. If you drop a movie on the application the tiled image will be generated using frames from the movie. Use preferences to specify frame spacing, and frame start and stop indices.
  • Added a function to calculate the number of frames in a movie file. This functionality is available from the file menu and from the preferences window.
  • Added a preference option to filter non-graphic files. This option is useful when you know the folder of images also contains files which are not images. Non-image files will cause the tiled image to have blank spaces since they can't be imaged. Deselect this option otherwise to improve processing speed.
