  • Fixed: When you dragged a file into the editor it stopped creating a markdown link. Now it does again.

  • New: Support for Dark/Light mode by saving themes for each mode and detect mode changes.

New in NotePlan 2.4.2 (May 1, 2020)

  • Smart Markdown Links change: When you paste a link to a website, NotePlan fetches the title for you. Now this happens only when you paste it and it won't change the clipboard anymore. And you can turn it off in the preferences.
  • Note migration tool: If you switch on iCloud Drive NotePlan will detect this and offer you to migrate the locally saved notes into your iCloud Drive folder. Also you can do this from the preferences. It won't ask you if you have already notes in iCloud Drive.
  • Fixed title cut-off in scheduled tasks and improved alignments. This happened when the font size or font was changed to Avenir Next.
  • Close button added to onboarding screens.
  • "What's new" screen added, so you see the most important changes after updating the app.
  • Updated the Mac SDK.

New in NotePlan 2.4.1 (Mar 23, 2020)

  • FIXED: Sidebar flickering is gone now. The sidebar updates properly with animations
  • FIXED: Spinning wheel appeared when you had a lot of notes and switched between Calendar and Notes views.
  • FIXED: The indentations of dated tasks are fixed. They were incorrect when you had complex indentations setup.
  • IMPROVED: You can collapse views, mentions and hashtags now and see the total number of items.
  • IMPROVED: When you click on a dated task it opens the note and scrolls to the task automatically, highlighting it.
  • IMPROVED: When you create an event, it will remember the last alert and calendar selection, so you don't have to change that all the time.
  • IMPROVED: Week view shows the events are aligned so that the text is in a line and not zig-zagging.

New in NotePlan 2.4 (Feb 25, 2020)

  • FIXED: The last release broke email links. Fixed now.
  • FIXED: When creating a new note and you select some other note, you couldn't go back to the new note (if empty).
  • FIXED: Creating a new note reflected partially very late in the notes list.
  • FIXED: The search had two cancel buttons due to a focus problem. Now you can cancel search by clicking on the small round "x" in the search field.
  • CHANGED: Removed view and arrow buttons from the editor top left. View modes are still accessible through the menubar, but this has been quite confusing for new users.
  • IMPROVED: Events in the week view are right aligned now, so that the right side is not so jagged anymore due to different timing text lengths.
  • IMPROVED: Onboarding simplified and made more transparent.
  • IMPROVED: New screenshots in the AppStore :)

New in NotePlan 2.3 (Feb 11, 2020)

  • NEW: Image support added! You can paste screenshots, drag images or copy & paste image files directly into your notes. They will be pushed to your iCloud Drive for syncing so you can see them on iPhone and iPad as well.
  • NEW: You can adjust the maximum text width. This becomes useful if you have an iMac or external display and need more space.
  • FIXED: You can search for tag + keyword combinations (wasn't working before, it took the tag only).
  • FIXED: You can hit CMD+N when a tag is selected (a new note was not opened before).

New in NotePlan 2.2 (Jan 8, 2020)

  • NEW: Markdown Live Rendering inside the editor. The to-do markdown is rendered and clickable / tappable now. Before, it was cryptic markdown characters and now you see meaningful icons instead. You can turn this off in the preferences if you don't like it.

New in NotePlan 2.1 (Dec 23, 2019)

  • NEW: More event and reminder fields added -> URL, notes, location, invitee list and 2. alert. Now you can see where your meeting is or check for video call links directly inside NotePlan by clicking on the event! Additionally, the notes field supports markdown!
  • NEW: Added preference to hide info text and placeholder for command shortcut ("/") under "Markdown".
  • FIXED: Saved filters had the wrong search text. A previous search text was inserted.

  • NEW: Tag autocompletion and note title link autocompletion. Start typing out a hashtag "#... " and a box with suggestions from your existing list will popup! This way you don't have to remember or mistype your tags anymore. Especially when you want to link note titles, type "[[... " and pick a title from all your notes.
  • IMPROVED: Schedule dialog opening much faster now.
  • FIXED: "Schedule All Open Tasks" was not opening when you didn't hover any to-do before.

New in NotePlan 2.0.19 (Oct 28, 2019)

  • NEW: Nested Tags. You can tag todos and notes now in a #maintag/subtag structure and organize things better! In the sidebar you can expand the tags similar to a folder system. This way you can also reference a single note under different tags.
  • NEW: Turn -> into an actual arrow icon.
  • NEW: Improved onboarding.
  • NEW: Cancel search with ESC.
  • FIXED: Note preview in the note list was not updated quickly enough when you created a new note.
  • FIXED: Line height of the text in the monthly calendar cells was not adapted when you changed the font size.

  • NEW: Global search for both, calendar and non-calendar notes. Means you find everything in a single search.
  • NEW: Preference to disable the markdown link conversion if you copy an URL. See "Edit" - "Substitutions" - "Smart Markdown Links".
  • FIXED: Dropbox sync caused the user interface to hang repeatedly.
  • FIXED: Printouts had too much space below events when there are just a few todos.

  • NEW: Global tagging, means you can tag notes and calendar notes with @ and # tags and they will both appear in the calendar side bar along with appropriate search results.

  • NEW: Switch between calendar only and editor only views using mouse or keys to enter the editor and CMD+Return or ESC to exit the editor. Like in V1. Also a back button was added to return without keyboard back to the calendar. Switch to the notes view using CMD+Shift+N from any x-only view.
  • NEW: Undo button added for checked off tasks when hovering over them. This way you can undo marking something as completed, canceled or scheduled. It also deletes the scheduled task in the other day if a date link was added.
  • NEW: Arrow buttons to jump between notes added permanently to the top bar.

  • Fix: Special Characters in filenames caused note to duplicate in the notes view (but not the file).

  • Fixed: One link inside a line blocked other links in the same line.
  • Fixed: Clicking on the Dock Icon canceled maximised or fullscreen state of the window.
  • Fixed: General notes were overwritten, when switching between notes before the current one was saved automatically.
  • Fixed: When adding or removing multiple notes in directly in the iCloud Drive folder, NotePlan detected only the first two while running (was ok after restart).

  • Fix backspace in tag text field (tag text couldn't be corrected).
  • Add `CMD + Y` and menu entry to jump to yesterday.
  • Fixed nested brackets inside titles and links such as [[nested] title](url).
  • Detect anything with name:url as link (so links to content of other apps is supported).
  • The first space was removed when marking something as title with the shortcuts on from the menu.
  • Removed system sound when reaching the end or beginning of the text.
  • Fix double clicking a todo and mark with shortcut will mark the todo below too, if any.
