  • Fixed: The app froze or started lagging after changing a VPN protocol. The bug has been fixed, and the app no longer acts stubbornly.

Click the “Quick Connect” button. Need a specific location? Click on the country or the city, and we’ll connect you to the fastest VPN server there. We’re no longer listing servers in each location, but you can still access them through “Search” if you really need to.

  • The IKEv2 protocol is no longer available in our app. It’s been a good run, but we want to offer you only the best cybersecurity solutions. For both speed and security, we recommend using the NordLynx protocol.
  • We’ve added a new setting that will let you keep your device invisible on the local network when connected to a VPN. While invisible, you won’t be able to access other network devices, such as computers, printers, or TVs. This setting prevents potential VPN traffic leaks caused by operating system limitations.

  • As the holidays quickly approach, we’ve been working on our app’s naughty-or-nice score. A bunch of mischievous bugs have been dispatched with a mission of no return.
  • This is the last update available for devices running macOS Sierra 10.12, macOS High Sierra 10.13, and macOS Mojave 10.14 because we’re dropping support for these versions. This doesn’t affect subscriptions in any way – you will still be able to use NordVPN on these versions. To receive further NordVPN app updates, your device must run macOS Catalina 10.15 or a later version.

  • New feature: Meshnet! From now on, you only need the NordVPN app with Meshnet enabled to connect to remote devices securely. Link up to 10 of your own devices and 50 devices of other NordVPN users. Meshnet is great for accessing and sharing files, playing multiplayer games, or getting some work done on shared projects!
  • Fixed: It wasn’t your eyes deceiving you – recent server locations were duplicating when you repeatedly connected to the same location. Not anymore.
  • Passwords aren’t supposed to last a lifetime. We might ask you to upgrade your password once in a while to help keep your account safe. It’s just now we’ll do so in a less persistent way.

It comes with a nice side-effect: a rewarding feeling of pride for making your life more cyber-safe day by day.
  • Track your protection streak in Statistics – the brand new section in the app. Here you can also check your longest VPN connection and see a weekly graph of your protection progress.
  • We improved the left sidebar by adding handy shortcuts to Presets, Statistics, and Preferences. All for more convenient navigation.
  • To count your protection statistics properly, we needed the Recents list to be at its top accuracy. So now it updates automatically only.

  • You connect to VPN, put your computer to sleep mode, wake it up later. You disconnect from VPN but our app be like: ‘Woah, wait, what? So confused.‘ And connect to VPN once again – even if you haven’t asked for it. We fixed the issue, so there’s confusion no more.
  • If it happens that the server you’re connected to is scheduled for maintenance, keep calm – no turbulence in your VPN connection is expected. The app will notify you immediately and recommend connecting to another server.

  • More design improvements are coming your way. This time, it’s the brand new, native-looking settings window.
  • From now on, you can choose servers by city! Because, well yeah, it matters – San Francisco or New York, Perth or Sydney... To connect to a server in a specific city, go to the sidebar and click the three-dot icon next to a country. The servers-by-city lists apply only to countries with multiple NordVPN server locations. IMPORTANT: the cities will appear within 24 hours after installing the update, so be patient :)
  • No need to go any further than the sidebar to manage your favorite servers. Heart them or un-heart them by clicking the tiny heart icon next to a server. Easy.
  • Meet the connection status bubble – it indicates your current connection by turning green next to a country in the sidebar.

  • Blue is the new green. We wanted to give our app a fresh look, and we did so by painting the buttons blue. The NordVPN feels more Nordic now.

  • A major design update is in progress, so the changes you’ll see are only the first touches in this exciting process. As for now, you’ll see the Connect button at the bottom of the main screen, moved from its usual position at the top. Stay tuned for further updates!
  • FIXED:
  • Normally, flipping a switch to enable VPN connection on start asks you to choose a specific server. If you skip this step, the feature isn’t enabled. However, the toggle switch was telling you the opposite by staying ON. No more misconceptions over here – the toggle will be set back to OFF if a server isn’t select.
  • Fixed a bunch of bugs that made the app crash when signing in, so everything should go smooth now.
  • Sometimes, the app icon happened to be lost between the dock and the menu bar. Now it will always land exactly where you want it to be.
