Jun 27, 2023
  • Fixed an issue with the alignment of printed pages.
  • Fixed issues related to embedding files.
  • Updated the scrypt key derivation function code.

New in Mémoires 5.0.0 (Jun 27, 2023)

  • Awesome dark mode. It even automatically adapts text and drawings (created by the improved Quick Drawing feature) to the right color.
  • Color labels for your entries. Group what you write with color labels and then easily browse enteries by label.
  • Redesigned Quick Drawing. Now featuring eraser, Touch Bar support, and better colors that work well both on white and dark background.
  • Insert from iPhone or iPad. Use your iPhone or iPad to add photo, draw a sketch or scan a document right into Mémoires on your Mac.
  • Improved performance. We rewrote a lot of code and improved performance of switching between entries and saving journals.
  • Apple Silicon support. Now a Universal app for both Apple Silicon (M1) chips and Intel processors, so that it runs as fast as possible, natively.
  • Improved tabs. Turn on the dedicated tabbed mode in the app preferences and enjoy multiple journals in a single window.
  • Full macOS 12 Monterey support. Fresh new icons for the app and journals, redesigned user interface, and other nits and bits.
  • Better Touch Bar support. Touch Bar is going away, but we still support it and improve how Mémoires works with it. Now you can easily create entries and switch between views using the Touch Bar.
  • Automatic File Format Conversion. To accomodate for new features, Mémoires 5 has an enhanced file format for journals. Once your journals are opened in Mémoires 5, they are automatically converted to the new version, and cannot be opened in older versions of Mémoires. Please make sure to use the latest version on all computers if you share your journals between them.

New in Mémoires 4.5.1 Build 74 (Mar 18, 2015)

  • Added exact searches (surround your whole search query with quote marks to search for the exact phrase). Previous version introduced improved search by splitting quieries into words. Some users wanted the exact search back, so in this release we introduced it back: for example, to search for why me, but not for why not me, type “why me”, including quotes.
  • Fixed black sidebar background in Yosemite if “Reduce transparency” accessibility setting was on.

New in Mémoires 4.5.0 Build 70 (Dec 17, 2014)

  • New look optimized for OS X 10.10 Yosemite. It’s less cluttered and looks great in the new OS X, as well as in the previous versions of Apple’s operating system. (Also, the app now has a new icon!)
  • Improved search. The program now splits queries into words before searching, so it’s now possible to find an entry containing “awesome vegan lunch” by looking for “awesome lunch”, while previous versions required entering the exact phrase.
  • Updates via HTTPS. While automatic updates were already secure by relying on digital signatures, in this version, in addition to signatures, we turned on Transport Layer Security for improved confidentiality.
  • We fixed bugs, such as editor losing focus during saving, slow typing with a lot of text or images, and many other smaller issues.

New in Mémoires 4.0 (Dec 23, 2013)

  • Highlights:
  • Fresh new look. Mémoires 4 comes with the improved and modernized user interface, which wastes less screen space and has better usability. Search field is now closer to search results; password field is integrated into the journal window.
  • Improved security. Encrypted journals now use AES-256 encryption with a key derived from the supplied password using the state-of-the-art scrypt key derivation function, which makes bruteforcing passwords very difficult and costly. After encryption, journals are authenticated with the fast and secure keyed BLAKE2 hash function to prevent malicious modification of encrypted journals. Mémoires 4 will automatically convert your journals to the new encryption scheme when you open them.
  • Native autosave and versions. Mémoires now uses the native OS X autosave and versions feature, which means that your journals are now automatically and constantly backed up by Time Machine, and you no longer need to save your journals explicitly.
  • Native full screen. The new version comes with improved full screen support, which uses the native full screen feature of OS X. You no longer need to switch between a window and full screen modes to use the calendar or search for entries.
  • Keyboard navigation. You can now navigate through the calendar with arrow keys on your keyboard. Pressing Return after editing entry title will let you switch to editing the entry content.
  • Faster Spotlight indexing. We rewrote the Spotlight indexer and made it so fast that we removed the option to disable it: it will be used automatically for non-encrypted journals, as it no longer slows down the saving.
  • Go To Date. Now when you want to go to a specific date, you no longer need to click on the arrows in calendar — just click View > Go To Date… and enter the date to jump to.
  • “Insert” menu. It is now easier to insert links, quick drawings, or images by using the new Insert menu.
  • …and lots of other small tweaks, improvements, and bug fixes.
