  • New Features:
  • PCloud Support: Added support for PCloud space in MailBacupX to save backup archives on PCloud.
  • Search Improvements: Added new search fields "larger:" and "smaller:" to search emails bigger or smaller than or in a given size-range (eg. larger:200KB smaller:5MB etc.)
  • Open selected email directly in an external client: Now the user can open an email in system's default email client such as Apple Mail, Thunderbird or Outlook etc. Thus the user can easily reply/forward given email with the help of any external application.
  • In-mail-search: Support for searching given text inside the mail viewer. Press Ctrl + F on PC (or Cmd + F on Mac) to open the find bar and enter the text to search. Searched text is highlighted in the viewer.
  • Export folder: Export all emails from selected folder by right-clicking on desired folder in folder hierarchy in viewer.
  • Date filter during import: Now users can set a date filter (before, after or date range) while importing data into Mail Backup X.
  • Improvements:
  • Skip on error in IMAP restore task: User can skip or retry in case an IMAP restore task got interrupted because of some unknown reason (ie. a temporary or a permanent failure on a certain email during restore probably due to some server restriction such as size.)
  • Improved performance by skipping unchecked folders when detecting changes in IMAP server.
  • Improvements in License Key entry view to allow auto formatting and copy-paste of license keys.
  • Ability to handle corrupt folders in case of IMAP server side bugs.
  • Improvement in log view.
  • Set default security mode is "unsecured" to avoid accidentally setting up security by a novice user. A secured archive can not be opened without the user's recovery key, so if the user is explicitly setting up security, then we can assume that the user understands the consequences of losing his recovery/security key (permanent data loss as there are NO other means to recover data from RSA256 encryption)
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a few timezone related bugs in EWS calendar item backup.
  • Fixed: Error handling in case invalid MIME is restored to IMAP server.

New in Mail Backup X 2.0 Build 21140 (May 31, 2021)

  • Feature Added: Shared MBS support: If a backup-archive (*.mbs) is already tied to a backup on one machine, it can be mounted on one or more other machines through an external drive or cloud space. Backup is taken on the first machine but it can be viewed from other machines. View will update automatically when the user opens the viewer in Mail Backup X.
  • Feature Added: Support for mounting archive from cloud spaces: Now mbs files can be mounted from cloud space.
  • Improvement: Search in all profiles: Click on the "Search" tab provided in Sidebar items to search for desired items in all profiles in one go.

  • Feature Added - Relocate mbs from a different location.

  • Fixed - Unable to upload certain items to EWS server because server cant handle it's MIME content. Skip such items as there is no possible mechanism to push such items.

  • New features:
  • Email Restore to IMAP and EWS server
  • Automatic source cleanup (Delete mails from server older by given number of days or than given absolute date)
  • Delete unused space. New feature: Now user can setup mirrors for local profiles on Team Admin too.
  • Now User can see raw source of an email (Headers and original MIME content). Button provided in email viewer.
  • Offline licensing now supported in version 2.0 also. Few other minor features.

  • Introduced "Dashboard" to show current status, processes, and notifications, etc.
  • Cloud storage support, Mail Backup X now has inbuilt support to Add Cloud Spaces from popular cloud storage service providers like Google Drive / OneDrive / Dropbox and FTP File server to save backup directly to the cloud from within the App.
  • Redesigned viewer to show profile data for individual profiles and avoid clutter.
  • App Level Security - to protect data exposure by anyone having access to your system and opens the App. The user can now password-protect the App. Individual profiles can be secured with a security key: i.e., profile data can't be viewed on any other computer without the profile's security key.
