Intermission Changelog

What's new in Intermission 1.1.5

Oct 10, 2015
  • Intermission works on Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)

New in Intermission 1.1.4 (Sep 27, 2015)

  • Intermissions' backend has been updated with support for Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan).
  • Intermission now requires Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) or higher.
  • A few other minor improvements have been made.
  • Please note that Intermission 1.1.4 is the last planned version of the software, as it has now been retired.

New in Intermission 1.1.3 (Jun 16, 2015)

  • An issue where Gatekeeper would incorrectly complain about the app when first launching on 10.10.4 and 10.11 has been resolved.
  • A compatibility issue with Audio Hijack 3 has been corrected.
  • Many other minor improvements have been made.

New in Intermission 1.1.2 (Aug 7, 2014)

  • An emergency update, necessitated by immediate changes Apple has made to their Gatekeeper system, restores compatibility on Mac OS X 10.9.5 and higher.
  • Intermission can now run concurrently under multiple users, with Fast User Switching. Do note that because audio capture of User A's audio does not work when switched into User B, Intermission running in User A is largely pointless. That said, the old buffer will remain, so when User A returns, you can potentially jump back to something useful.
  • The ability to capture Text to Speech audio has been restored, after being briefly broken by recent changes.

New in Intermission 1.1.1 (Jul 24, 2014)

  • Intermission now has initial compatibility with Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).
  • Code-signing is now checked during software update.

New in Intermission 1.1.0 (Jun 20, 2014)

  • Intermission has been heavily optimized, and its energy usage has been drastically reduced. Mother Earth thanks you for updating, while your energy company will hate you for it!
  • When audio is live, Intermission now removes itself from the audio pipeline entirely. That means it introduces no latency at all, rather than the minimal latency caused by previous versions. It was difficult to implement, but this updated design is cleaner and better all around, and we're committed to you. Yes, you!
  • Thanks to the above, Intermission will no longer interfere with higher-end mixers and multi-channel audio output devices during live playback.
  • Non-stereo audio output devices (such as higher-end mixers and more) will now also work better with Intermission when it's playing back non-live audio. Do note that non-live playback is limited to stereo.
  • Intermission now interacts better with secondary user accounts when Fast User Switching is in use. When Intermission is live in Account A, Account B will be unaffected. Note that pausing or playing non-live audio in Account A will still result in no audio in Account B, and is thus not recommended.
  • When moving the slider, it will no longer stutter and jerk as it previously did. Now, it's smooth, like butter, or perhaps some very finely sanded and polished wood.
  • This update also features several additional small fixes and improvements.

New in Intermission 1.0.3 (Jan 22, 2014)

  • Intermission now offers full support for Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).
  • An issue where Bluetooth audio devices could cause static has been resolved.
  • Compatibility between Intermission and Soundflower has been improved.
  • This update also features several other small fixes.

New in Intermission 1.0.2 (Oct 8, 2013)

  • Intermission now offers preliminary support for developer preview versions of Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).
  • Audible glitching which could be heard when watching video in full-screen on newer Macs has been corrected.
  • There was an issue where audio dropouts and static could be heard when audio was being sent to AirPlay devices. That issue has been resolved, and a mighty roar when up from the crowd. Yay.
  • The Intermission Tour can now be accessed and replayed from the Support menu.
  • Several minor visual glitches with Intermission's slider have been corrected.
  • Support for complex pro audio devices has been improved, and more fixes for these devices are still to come.

New in Intermission 1.0.1 (Sep 9, 2013)

  • Visually-impaired users rejoice - Intermission now excludes VoiceOver.app, so VoiceOver audio is never buffered!
  • A bug where Adium sound effects might not properly play has been fixed.
  • Any open windows now come forward when Intermission's menu bar icon is clicked.
  • A rare issue where audio playback might fail has been corrected.
  • Several other small Sound Effects-related bugs have been squashed.
