New in GrupaDupa 3.0.0 (Aug 8, 2011)
- GrupaDupa now has three new search types:
- name: this is the original GrupaDupa search. It is very fast, but only uses the name of the file or folder to identify duplicates.
- name and size: this search ignores duplicates with the same name if they have different sizes. This is almost as fast as names only, but is more accurate.
- name, size, and checksum: this is an enhancement of the name and size search that calculates a checksum for each file (or folder) to further improve the duplicate matching.
- size and checksum: This search finds duplicates that have the same size and checksum. This is particularly useful for finding duplicates that have been renamed.
- GrupaDupa will now leave one file in place even if you delete all the duplicates.
- When you delete (or destroy) a duplicate then it will now be removed from the list.
- In demo mode, GrupaDupa now shows all duplicates found, but only allows you to work with two of them. You may unlock GrupaDupa to allow you to work with the rest of the duplicates without having to re-run the search.
- GrupaDupa now has tooltips to help to explain each action. Hover the mouse over an object to see a description.
- GrupaDupa now has drag and drop support. Drag a folder, volume or file into the search path field or on GrupaDupa's icon to start a search. If a file is dropped then its enclosing folder is searched.
- Added quick look support (space bar or ⌘y to activate). When chosen, a folder is created on the desktop containing aliases of all selected items. (Don't worry - The folder is trashed when you quit GrupaDupa). Quick look works as in Finder and double-clicking an item opens the file or folder.
- As soon as duplicates display they are useable, even when search is still in progress.
- Screen only updates when a page is complete and it is not possible anymore to go to a partially finished page (except the first page).
- It is now possible to stop a search that is in progress. This can be done in several ways:
- The New Search... button now changes to Stop Search... while a search is running. Click on it to stop the search
- The Repeat Search button at the end of the search path changes to a stop button
- The New Search menu item (on the File menu) changes to Stop Search (which can be accessed from the keyboard by pressing ⌘n)
- Pressing the escape key or ⌘. also stops a search in progress. (though you must press it twice)
- Added Repeat Search button to be able to repeat a search (shortcut: ⌘⌥n).
- Parent files display how many duplicates they contain and what size they are, when possible. In Names only this happens after double clicking on duplicated files only.
- It is now possible to limit the search to a range of sizes such as greater than 100kB and less than 10MB. This is only currently supported for search on name, sizes, and checksum or sizes and checksum.
- Added option in preferences to use sha1 or md5 checksum.
- Added Destroy menuItem to delete items without putting them in the trash.
- Added Edit menu so, in preferences, you can edit text for excluded files and folders.
- "Icon^M" files are now always excluded (these are hidden Finder files in every folder with a custom icon).
- Changed keyboard shortcut for next/prev page to ⌘-arrow (right or left)
- Excluded file and folder filters now accept entries without extensions.
- Most dialog boxes have key equivalent to allow choosing options (clicking buttons) without using the mouse (ie Continue will be c, Stop, s etc) when possible. Default button (highlighted in blue) uses Enter or Return key Cancel button esc or ⌘ full-stop. Also created icon for warnings in answer dialog boxes.
- By default, GrupaDupa does not look into Libraries or System files not supposed to be modified by user. This can be changed in the excluded folders and files in the preferences, if they want.
- When users exclude a folder in preferences window and then choose it for a search a dialog box explains that the folder in an "Excluded folder" instead of “found no duplicates”.
- Users can now work with all duplicates of a file (or folder) by selecting the parent entry and running an action on it (such as reveal, quick look, etc).
- Cannot access preferences during searches anymore.
- When revealing files if two or more files are in the same folder (window) the Finder will now open only one window.
- Double clicking parent items will toggle showing/hiding the duplicates they contain. All selected items that are open will be closed, all closed will be opened.
- Changing radio buttons from search for files to folders and vice-versa is remembered when GrupaDupa is quit.
- All sizes display in human-readable form, using kB, MB, GB, and TB.
- Names beginning with - are searched and displayed correctly.
- Added more comprehensive feed back of search status displaying current action.
- Added menu items to go to FAQ page, to buy GrupaDupa, open this help file, unlock and upgrade GrupaDupa in Help menu.
- Added Check for Updates... menu in Apple menu. User can update if possible.
- Sizes and names are always sorted in outline view. Names are sorted alphabetically, sizes sorted largest first.
- Columns are draggable ie checksum can be relocated to first place and expandable.
- Added button to toggle playing sounds on click and double click.
- The button to reset preferences to default no longer closes the preferences window.
- Added Fiwi integration so you can use it when revealing files. (Fiwi is another WordPower application to help manage Finder windows - see http://wordpower-software.com/WordPower/fiwi.htm)
- Added Page Set up and Print menu items to print the current page. (Please note that Printing is limited to a screen dump of the current page.)

- Maintenance release.
- Several minor fixes including a problem with demo not counting.
- Upgrade path now working correctly.
