  • Interactive Widgets on macOS Sonoma:
  • GoodTask now supports Interactive Widgets on iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma. You can easily complete tasks directly from the widget:
  • Clicking a task will mark it as complete right on the widget.
  • If a task has subtasks, clicking it will complete the first subtask.
  • If you've selected 'Settings - Appearance - Icon: Hide,' tapping a task will open it instead of marking it as complete.
  • You'll also find a handy refresh button in the bottom right corner to instantly update your data when needed (Note: The refresh button may not be visible on smaller widgets).
  • Other improvements:
  • Better keyboard navigation on item detail pane.
  • 'Copy Link' added inside top Edit menu (You can set up keyboard shortcut if needed)

  • This update brings better Shortcuts app support on GoodTask. Existing shortcuts will be deprecated. It can be used for now but will go away in the future. New ones are supported in both iOS and Mac. Also now the app's minimum supported versions are iOS 14, macOS 10.15 and watchOS 7.
  • Using new shortcuts actions will let you do powerful things without opening the app. Key feature is running Quick Actions within shortcut action.

  • You can optionally select specific view.
  • Get Task: You can get tasks to use with other actions:

  • Create Task: You can create a new task:

  • Notes and subtasks can be replaced or appended.

  • Better Workflow:
  • CMD-Enter or CMD-O while task is selected will open right click menu. This will let you access quick actions right from keyboard. On 'New Task' window, CMD-O will open quick actions menu.
  • Drag and drop text from outside into a task will make subtasks. Separate lines will make separate subtasks. (Prefix - and ◯ will be ignored)
  • Copy to clipboard added on task's right click menu
  • Improvements on Search:
  • 'Recent Searches' Group
  • After searching, new list according to your search result is made under this group
  • This group is automatically added at first if it doesn't exist
  • If you don't want this group and the behavior, simply remove it
  • Latest 5 lists will be preserved under this group. You can move list elsewhere to keep it.
  • Do not keep other lists under this group. It may get removed when new lists are added. (You can move its place but keep another group or space under it to separate from others)
  • Search URL Scheme : keyword, list range (all or specific)

  • Keyword : Search text. Values need to be URL encoded (# for #, for space on multiple keywords)

  • You can add attachments on a task. If iCloud is available, attachments will be saved in iCloud Drive folder which can be accessible through Finder (and basically all other places).
  • Add attachments inside a task:
  • By clicking attachments button inside a task, you can choose file to attach. All attachments are accessible inside task detail pane and can be sent out to other apps.
  • File attachments:
  • You can add any type of files to be attached. Files are copied to the app to be saved separately from original source. You can share the file while viewing it through Quick Look.
  • Viewing and deleting attachments:
  • When you click attachments inside task detail pane, it'll be shown and can be played if possible. Left and right arrow buttons will let you navigate between attachments. You can right click on an attachment in task detail pane to choose between 'Show in Finder' or 'Delete'.
  • Attachments Order:
  • Attachments are shown on modified date order inside task detail pane.
  • Managing iCloud attachments:
  • Attachments are not removed when you complete a task. It'll be removed only when you delete a task. You can manually manage attachments inside 'iCloud Drive/GoodTask/Attachments' folder.
  • All new iCloud Sync for Settings and GoodTask related features:
  • From this version, settings data will be stored in iCloud Drive/Settings folder in files. You can select parts to include in sync process. Auto Preferences Sync and manual upload/download will run for the selected parts only.
  • If you edit files directly, you need to change or remove date field to make the app refresh.
  • Notification settings and selected theme settings are not synced. Theme option syncs user-generated custom themes (iOS).

  • iCloud Sync Settings:
  • With all the data under the hood changing, automatic preferences sync has been expanded to 'iCloud sync'. You can choose to automate the process or manually upload and download. Also you can selectively sync lists-related preferences.
  • Lists used inside GoodTask validates connection between Reminders database. If you use different data sources between multiple devices, you should turn off sync for 'Lists'. Also if you have upgraded your database for iOS 13 and macOS Catalina but you're still using previous OS on some devices, turn off sync for 'Lists' on those previous OS using devices to make it work smoothly.
  • Turning off 'Lists' will remove sync for 'Lists', 'List Order', 'Excluded Lists & Calendars' and 'Favorites'.
