  • Folder Album Artwork is now a universal build and runs natively in Big Sur on an Apple silicon based Mac.

  • Bug Fix: when saving an image to a different format, changing the filetype did not always take effect immediately.

New in Folder Album Artwork 2.3 (Apr 6, 2020)

  • This release no longer supports OS versions less that 10.10. It also no longer supports 32 bit Macs. If your Mac does not meet these requirements do not upgrade!
  • All iTunes functionality has been removed.
  • The icon used to open and close the drawer has been updated.
  • When a single file is dragged to the drop zone, an info icon will appear which will display information about the image.
  • A new preference setting is available to close the results panel immediately if no errors have occurred.
  • The application is now notarized by Apple.
  • Previously only .mp3, .m4a and .flac audio files were supported and they were scraped. The application now directly reads audio file types supported by Yate. The following audio file types are now supported:
  • .aif, .aifc, .aiff
  • .ape
  • .dff
  • .dsf
  • .m4a, .m4b, .m4v, .mp2, .mp4
  • .oga, .ogg, .opus
  • .wav
  • .wv

  • You've asked for the ability to specify files other than folder.jpg to be matches for artwork.
  • You've also asked for the ability to specify file types where the first file found of the type would serve as the artwork.
  • Both these features have been implemented and can be configured in the Application Preferences.

  • Made it simpler to locate artwork smaller than a given size. This can now be done from a single dialog,
  • Added the ability to convert any image in the drop zone to grayscale.
  • While searching for artwork, .flac files will now be examined.
  • While searching for artwork, if a folder.jpeg file exists, and folder.jpg does not, it will be utilized.

  • Added the ability to examine audio files to locate artwork smaller than a selected size. The operation can be limited to one audio file per folder. The function is accessible from the File menu.

  • Developers: Save all possible iOS icons and images on a single process. Select by iPhone (low and high res) and iPad.
  • All saved images can be scaled down.
  • Advanced settings for all image formats.
  • Manually created icns files can have an outline around the icon as well as a transparent border. The icons can automatically have their corners rounded.
  • Images extracted from folders will now be 512 x 512 pixel images.

  • Support for tbn files used by XBMC and other media centers to display artwork. Use cover flow to view the contents of your movie and tv show folders.
  • When saving to an icns file, scaling can be applied in order to leave a transparent border around the icon. The size of the transparent border can be selected. Great for creating an application icon from an image.
  • Custom icons attached to an application can now be easily removed.
  • Extract artwork directly from any folder's icon.
  • More image types supported including tbn, PDF, raw and Photoshop. Save any image to a tbn file!
  • Extract jpeg or png images from any file, even from file types we don't directly process.
