  • Introducing the much requested and most awaited Flock Apps.
  • Nothing short of a marvel, Flock Apps provides you a platform to integrate your most frequently used apps into Flock. What kind, you ask? Github, Trello, Jira and many others.
  • But we aren’t stopping here. We will continue to introduce more apps on an on-going basis including Google Drive, Twitter and Calendar. The platform also offers you to build custom integrations using webhooks.
  • We don’t see any reason now why you should have to switch (at least) ten tabs to stay updated on multiple apps.
  • In other news though, we have made some minimal, but very important styling fixes that will instantly catch your attention.
  • You know that drop down menu below your stylish profile picture on top right corner? Yeah, right there. The tray has some really well groomed icons for all your Browsing and Managing Apps needs.
  • Moving on, here’s some definition we brought to our groups. We just parted ways with some silhouette people as your group icon. Nothing spells fun like some really cool group avatars.
  • Also, just some beautiful font size and type changes that (we think) might inspire you to pen down some poetry to your boss.

  • File sharing for restricted users: Now Flock admins can restrict file sharing permissions to a set of individuals or completely block file sharing on Flock. Update importance: High.
  • User Avatar in roster: People now have faces! Except now they show up in your roster list too. Our fun, tiny, Flocks-ville.
  • Groups in roster: Ever had to look for that group with a funny name but can’t recall what that funny name was? Here’s why we got it up in the recent contact list.
  • Recent list: It’s funny when we say it, but the recent contact list on the right is now ordered by last message time. Let’s pretend it was always like this.
  • Style: From attachment previews to image reviews; from errors prompts to round edged avatars; there’s a whole lot of styling we brought to Flock that could land us a fashion show. If there were any. For team chat apps. But, we digress.
  • Chat editor character limit: Say (or write, rather) up to as much as 50,000 characters without anyone having to tell you that you can’t. Because we could use a word or two to talk about that United match last night.
  • Retry fetch group members: No, we haven’t yet moved to times with group members up to zero. It’s just something that used to show up when the network was flaky. Or something on our end, maybe. Guess, we’d never know.

New in Flock 1.5.97 (Feb 18, 2016)

  • What’s new:
  • Reminder app: For all the big and the tiny meetings lined up, Flock helps you never miss a thing you don’t want to. Set reminders by using /remind and never forget to be awesome.
  • Note app: Navigating and consequently getting lost between applications just to note down few things? We request you to take note of this beautiful thing called Notes on Flock. Never miss a detail.
  • Click on names to open chats: There’s always that one socially awkward guy who writes something embarrassing on a group. And always that one Samaritan who has to message them in private chat enlightening them. Be a Ninja Samaritan and reach out to that guy quickly just by clicking on his name. Chats now open by just hitting on a contact’s name.
  • Profile picture pop up: You don’t need glasses anymore to see the new profile picture of that new super boss everyone at work is talking about. Click away.
  • Option to skip Google oauth on sign up: We just got you closer to downloading Flock. Now you’re one step less far from us. We’re waiting with open arms. And chats. Options. New users.
  • Give that sticker a name: We did. We named all our quirky sticker guys. So if you’re one of the many who take their stickers seriously, we make sure you see their names everywhere. Even on your toaster notifications. Yes, even while you hover aimlessly over it.
  • What's fixed:
  • URL unfurling scrolling: We don’t get the point of URL unfurling till you get to see what it has to show. Don’t scroll for the preview. Preview will come to you. Just like inner peace.
  • Duplication of messages: If you feel low because you think your boss over-emphasised work by messaging you twice, we’re sorry. That might have been one of the bugs from our end due to faulty history sync. That is fixed, we assure you.
  • Jumpy messages: That paranoid behaviour by messages when you moved your mouse over them? They’ve been exorcised.

New in Flock 1.5.94 (Jan 27, 2016)

  • Hang Up your Hang Ups: Fixed a weird bug where for a split second in the background, Flock would suddenly take you back in time to old conversations you had, causing the system to hang. We fixed the problem, so the only way you can go back in time for old messages is our Search History feature. Or of course, a Time Machine...
  • URL Unfurls to brighten your world: Our URL unfurling service on Flock now gives you incredible previews of links you share. Webpages, Feature Articles, Cat Videos, that video of Jenny from Accounting spilling coffee on the boss...Preview all of it in the Flock window. Snazzy, huh?
  • HD Icons: You don’t need HD glasses to have the perfect Flock experience. We’re making you notice the simpler things like our camera icon, the green ticks next to group names and a bunch of other stuff by replacing them with swanky high def icons. Because we’re all about attention to detail...
  • Conversation Status Indicator and DND icon: We fixed another funny issue where if someone was on DND, the conversation status indicator cut into the DND status text. We’ve put a wrap on things here. Safe to say it all looks much better now.

New in Flock 1.5.92 (Jan 18, 2016)

  • NEW:
  • Rich Image Preview: Pictures are a breath of fresh air in any conversation. We’ve added rich image previews on Flock, that are just a click away. Zoom and explore your pictures without even having to download them.
  • FIXED:
  • Eliminated Add member Toaster Notifications: Group messages are an awesome way to stay connected with your teams. But those pesky toaster notifications can sometimes become bothersome when they Spiderman all over your screen. We understand. We’ve reduced the noise that Flock causes on your desktop by removing the toaster notifications about less important things, like members being added to a group.
  • Emoji Autocomplete: You love using emojis. We get that. But you shouldn’t have to waste time opening the emoji tray every time you’re in a mood. Thank heaven for autocomplete! Step 1: Type a colon. Step 2: Type an alphabet or character your emoji starts with.
  • Flock now prioritizes your most used emojis in auto complete. Much better this way.

  • Code Snippets: Share and review code snippets with your team. Downloading, forwarding, editing and reusing code just got a whole lot simpler. Snazzy, isn’t it?
