What's new in Embrace 3.0
Jan 10, 2020
- Adds support for macOS Catalina and the new Music app.
- Adds Dark Mode support in addition to several user interface improvements.
- Removes "Use highest-quality rate converters" preference. Embrace now uses a new sample rate converter which is both aurally transparent and CPU efficient.
- Changes spacebar behavior. By default, Embrace no longer allows the spacebar to Play/Stop a track due to safety concerns. This option can be re-enabled from the Advanced preference pane.
New in Embrace 2.3.3 (Mar 15, 2019)
- Fixes a rare playback issue where a song wouldn't start.
New in Embrace 2.3.2 (Jan 7, 2019)
- Fixes a crash when selecting "Export to iTunes…" on Mojave.
- Fixes a rare playback issue where a song would play indefinitely.
New in Embrace 2.3.1 (Jul 31, 2018)
- MAJOR CHANGE:
- Embrace now shows only vetted, verified-as-safe effects in the Effect windows. To enable third-party equalizers or other plugins, switch to the Advanced pane in Preferences and select "Allow addition of: All installed effects".
- OTHER CHANGES:
- Embrace 2.3.1 fixes a rare crash which could occur in Embrace 2.3.
- Adds "Reset device volume to maximum" preference.
- When enabled, Embrace resets the volume of an external device to maximum upon playback. This prevents a bug with some devices which initialize to a very quiet volume; however, it's incorrect behavior for other audio devices where "maximum volume" is too loud.
- Adds "Use highest-quality rate converters" preference.
- When enabled, Embrace uses a sample rate converter intended for mastering purposes. In some situations, such as running Embrace on older/slower machines or on low battery, the user may wish to use the standard-quality converter to conserve energy.
- Adds AppleScript handler preference.
- Adds "Album Artist" option to "Track Attributes".
- Adds the ability to mark same or similar song titles as duplicates. To enable, use the "Duplicate Status" menu under "View".
- Adds additional AppleScript nouns and verbs.
- Enables "Mark as Played" when the selection contains both a played track and an unplayed track.
- Fixes a rare issue where stopping a track could mark the next track as played.
- Fixes various metadata issues with AIFF, FLAC, and VBR MP3 files.
- Changes the default settings to include a 10-band Graphic Equalizer (rather than no effects).
New in Embrace 2.2.2 (Oct 10, 2017)
- Fixes a drawing issue with OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
New in Embrace 2.1 (Aug 23, 2016)
- This version of Embrace features minor user interface refinements. Occurrences of "pause" have been changed to "stop".
- Additional changes:
- Added the Danger Meter to the top-right corner of the Set List. This monitors the risk of an audio glitch due to lack of computing resources. To reduce risk: quit other applications, reduce the number of effects, or increase the audio device's frame size.
- Added Auto Stop. Drag the Auto Gap slider to the far right to automatically stop after each played track.
- Added "Ignore Auto Gap" option. When used, a song will proceed immediately to the next song without the silence gap.
- Added ability to import all songs in a folder
- Added ability to import and export M3U files
- Added "Float on Top" item to the View menu
- Added additional AppleScript nouns
- Fixes an issue where the start time and stop time of a song were corrupted.
- Fixes an issue where iTunes normalization and gapless playback data shows up as a track's comment.
- Fixes an issue where the Graphic EQ UI wouldn't update after loading a preset.
- Fixes a rare issue with re-ordering or adding tracks during a song transition. Embrace will now postpone the start of the next song until a drag finishes.
- Fixes a rare issue where the current song plays indefinintely without advancing to the next song.
New in Embrace 2.0.1 (Feb 17, 2016)
- Resolves an issue where Embrace could require an Internet connection on launch.
New in Embrace 2.0 (Nov 16, 2015)
- Redesigned interface and app icon. Embrace now looks and behaves like a modern native application. In addition, several interface tweaks were added to enhance visibility in low-light conditions. For example, the current playing track now features a speaker icon in addition to the subtle blue highlight color.

- Multiple selection of tracks.
- Ability to assign color labels to track.
- Duplicate song indicators.
- Reverse Stereo Field.
