Diablo III Changelog

What's new in Diablo III 2.6.8

Mar 4, 2020
  • General:
  • Infernal Machines and Organs are now subject to vacuum pick-up
  • Crafting plans from Bounty Caches are now guaranteed to drop unless all plans have been learned
  • Seasons:
  • Two new Seasonal rewards are available for players who fully complete the Season 20 Journey, including a new portrait frame and pet
  • A new Season Theme has been added for Season 20, the Season of the Forbidden Archives:
  • For the duration of Season 20, all slots in Kanai's Cube will be able to select Legendary powers from Weapon, Armor, or Jewelry
  • This means you could select three Armor powers, three Weapon powers, three Jewelery powers, or any other combination thereof across all categories
  • Items are not self-additive or multiplicative (meaning, you cannot stack multiples of the same item's power)
  • Once the Season has ended and characters roll over to Non-Season, players will have all currently active powers in their Kanai's Cube reset
  • Developer's Note: As we outlined in our Developer Insight blog, we want to continue to get creative (and maybe a little crazy) with the Season Themes and powers we add to the game. We heard from some players that they preferred themes that made your character directly feel more powerful rather than needing to focus on the environment around you. If that describes you, then the Season of Forbidden Archives should be right up your alley, and we're really interested to see how this changes the game for Season 20.
  • Classes:
  • Crusader:
  • Developer's Note: We're not convinced that this change has fully reigned in Crusader performance to be more in line with other classes. We'll be continuing to keep an eye on overall Crusader performance (as well as performance among the other classes) in 2.6.8 and beyond.
  • Heaven's Fury:
  • The animation for the Fires of Heaven rune can no longer be cancelled early.
  • Items:
  • Developer's Note: With Patch 2.6.8, we're adding three(!) new class sets with similar goals to those we included in the previous patch. Each set was designed primarily with boosting long-requested skills and play styles we lifted directly from community feedback. Frenzy, Spirit Barrage, and Hydra were requests that offered a lot of opportunity for gameplay exploration, and we're looking forward to seeing what players do with these new tools at their disposal. Additional changes to associated supplemental Legendaries have been included to round out these builds.
  • Mantle of Channeling:
  • The bonus granted by this item now occurs 1 second after channeling has begun
  • Barbarian:
  • New Class Set: Horde of the Ninety Savages:
  • 2-Piece Bonus: Double the effectiveness of all Shouts. Feared, Frozen, or Stunned Enemies take double damage.
  • Developer's Note: The callout that Stun may be the best fit for this set bonus was definitely heard, but we didn't want to take away other potential builds enabled by experimenting with Fear or Frozen. We hope this opens up a variety of options for Barbarians to explore!
  • 4-Piece Bonus: Each stack of Frenzy reduces damage taken by 6%. Frenzy lasts twice as long.
  • 6-Piece Bonus: Frenzy deals 1000% increased damage per stack.
  • Undisputed Champion:
  • Frenzy gains the effect of every rune and deals 300-400% increased damage.
  • Bastion's Revered:
  • Frenzy now stacks up to 10 times and hits an additional time per stack. Each additional hit will chain to any enemies within 15 yards and the damage is split between all affected enemies.
  • Witch Doctor:
  • New Class Set: Mundunugu's Regalia
  • 2-Piece Bonus: Big Bad Voodoo now follows you and lasts twice as long.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: Gain 60% damage reduction for 30 seconds when you enter the Spirit Realm.
  • 6-Piece Bonus: Spirit Barrage deals 20000% increased damage plus an additional % equal to 5 times your Mana Regeneration/Second.
  • Developer's Note: We found this set was overperforming at the highest end, but we also wanted to maintain its capabilities at early gearing stages. The addition of a base multiplier and reducing the effectiveness of the Mana Regeneration bonus should accomplish this goal.
  • The Barber:
  • Instead of dealing direct damage, your Spirit Barrage now accumulates on the target. When you stop casting, it explodes dealing 225-250% 400-500% of the accumulated damage to all enemies within 15 yards.
  • Is now classified as a Ceremonial Knife, with a base 1.4 attack speed
  • Gazing Demise:
  • Spirit Barrage gains the Phantasm rune. Each active Phantasm lasts twice as long, increases the damage of Spirit Barrage by 40-50% 100-150%, and also increases the attack rate from Manitou spectres.
  • Ring of Emptiness:
  • You deal 250-300% increased damage to enemies affected by both either your Haunt and or Locust Swarm.
  • Wizard:
  • New Class Set: The Typhon's Veil:
  • 2-Piece Bonus: Double the duration of Hydras and increase the number of heads on multi-headed Hydras by two.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: Damage taken is reduced by 8% for each Hydra head alive as long as there is one available. Each time you take damage, a Hydra heads dies. Heads cannot die more than once every 2 seconds
  • 6-Piece Bonus: Hydras deal 1200% 1300% increased damage for each Hydra head alive.
  • Developer's Note: We've continued to tilt more of the power for Hydra in favor of the 6-piece set bonus and away from the supplemental Legendary items.
  • Serpent's Sparker:
  • You may have one extra Hydra active at a time and they deal 450-600% 250-300% increased damage.
  • The Magistrate:
  • Frost Hydra Your Hydras now periodically cast Frost Nova and deal 450-600% 250-300% increased damage.
  • Etched Sigil:
  • The bonus granted by this item now occurs 1 second after channeling has begun.
  • Deathwish:
  • The bonus granted by this item now occurs 1 second after channeling has begun.
  • Bugs:
  • Several issues with adding/removing players to group and starting new games as a group have been resolved
  • Captain Crimson's Trimmings:
  • Fixed an issue where the set bonus did not increase damage reduction when using Devour - Voracious
  • Barbarian:
  • Fixed a bug where Threatening Shout (Grim Harvest) would not activate when enhanced by the Horde of the Ninety Savages set bonus
  • Crusader:
  • Corrected the spelling of “Imperius” on the flavor text for several pieces of the Aegis of Valor set
  • Fixed an issue where the bolts cast by Fist of the Heavens - Divine Well failed to zap enemies
  • Demon Hunter:
  • Fixed an issue where In-geom was not properly dropping for Demon Hunters
  • Wizard:
  • Fixed a bug where Arcane Torrent would get an extra damage multiplier from Etched Sigil and Deathwish
  • Fixed a bug where Hydra (Frost Hydra) was getting a damage bonus instead of Attack Speed bonus from its owner's Attack Speed; this rune now benefits from Attack Speed in the same manner as other Hydra runes
  • PTR Specific:
  • Note: The following issues were only live on the PTR, but we're including the fixes here for visibility and to indicate intended functionality on live.
  • Fixed a bug with Bastion's Revered where it would not properly benefit from Convention of Elements
  • Fixed a bug where Big Bad Voodoo would not properly follow its owner through zones when utilizing the new 2-Piece set bonus
  • Fixed a bug where Hydras would have a short delay after being summoned

New in Diablo III 2.6.7b (Dec 12, 2019)

  • Bugs:
  • Season Theme Buff - Pandemonium:
  • Fixed an issue where the Pandemonium buff would fall off of players once their Cheat Death passive activated
  • Fixed an unintended use of Game Mechanics involving the Seasonal Theme
  • As a byproduct, players are now required to be in the same "world" as the monster they slay for the purpose of gaining or maintaining stacks of Pandemonium. A world is defined as either within the boundaries of a Rift (both Greater and Nephalem) or in the same zone of the world map.

New in Diablo III 2.6.7a (Nov 23, 2019)

  • Items:
  • Lamentation:
  • Now increases the damage of Rend by [100-150%]
  • Developer's Note: As we've indicated in forum posts, we overshot on Lamentation's original implementation during the 2.6.7 PTR. However, we also very much undershot the overall balance of Rend/Whirlwind's adjustments by removing this bonus completely. After reading a ton of your feedback and completing our own internal testing, we've settled on a middle ground we believe reaches the balance level we were shooting for.
  • Shield of Fury:
  • The benefit of this item now stacks up to a cap of 20
  • Developer's Note: As many of you noted coming out of our 2.6.7 update, we also overshot on Crusader with the live patch. We love to see Crusader performing much better with it's new set, and this cap should reign in damage to a more reasonable level
  • Bugs:
  • Wizard:
  • Wave of Force (Arcane Attunement):
  • Stacks of Arcane Attunement are now removed upon entering a Greater Rift (PC Only)
  • Note: This change will be coming to Console in a future patch.
  • Patterns of Justice:
  • Fixed an issue where the Tempest Rush Flurry rune attack did not benefit from the 6-Piece bonus when cancelling Tempest Rush (PC Only)
  • Developer's Note: We were unable to resolve this for 2.6.7a for Console; however, it is slated to be fixed on Console in a future patch.
  • Fjord Cutter:
  • Fixed an issue where Fjord Cutter was increasing all damage to slowed or chilled enemies instead of just Seismic Slam damage
  • Won Khim Lau:
  • Fixed a bug where Epiphany would trigger teleporting while channeling Tempest Rush (Electric Field) when Won Khim Lau was equipped

New in Diablo III 2.6.7 (Nov 14, 2019)

  • General:
  • Greater Rift Keystones are now subject to vacuum pick-up
  • A note regarding the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) has been added to the Options -> Privacy menu, clearly stating we do not sell account information. For more information regarding the CCPA, please see here (Console Only).
  • Seasons:
  • Developer Note: One of the biggest pieces of feedback from Season 18's buff was that the Triune bonus didn't stick with your character while you adventured. With Season 19, we've altered course as well as upped the ante by experimenting with new mechanics to add an element of both chaos and power to the battlefield. It should feel a bit like Pandemonium, and it may be a consideration whether or not you want to reset your total kill streak for a particular killstreak bonus versus continuously maintain the overall effect (especially as the highest level killstreak rewards will be harder to leverage in situations like Greater Rifts). Killstreaks with higher kill count requirements are more powerful, and we're looking forward to seeing what players think of and do with them!
  • The buff for Season 19, the Season of Eternal Conflict, has been added
  • Pandemonium:
  • For the duration of the Season, all players will have a stacking buff that that persists as long as you have hit or killed a monster within the last 5 seconds
  • Each stack gives .005 movement speed and .001% bonus damage. This bonus caps at 50% movement and 100% damage (1000 stacks)
  • In addition, after reaching a certain number of kills in a row, a power is unleashed, dealing an amount of scaling damage based on player level and difficulty or Greater Rift level:
  • 15 Kills: Exploding Chickens seek and destroy
  • 30 Kills: A wide Frost Nova freezes enemies
  • 50 Kills: Corpses rain from the sky
  • 100 Kills: Five massive energy twisters are unleashed
  • 150 Kills: Dark Geysers form beneath enemies
  • 200 Kills: Treasure chests fall from the sky
  • 300 Kills: A ring of fire engulfs everything
  • 400 Kills: Meteors hail from above
  • 500 Kills: Angels descend upon the battlefield to fight for your cause
  • Angels should no longer one-shot Rift Guardians.
  • 1000 Kills: ???
  • Powers are tracked at a group level; this means only one power can be active in play at a time, regardless of the number of players in a group
  • Two new Seasonal rewards are available for players who fully complete the Season 19 Journey: the Valor Portrait Frame and the Angelic Treasure Goblin pet
  • Lilith's Embrace: This exclusive pair of cosmetic wings are now available for all players who purchased a Virtual Ticket. Hail Lilith. (PC Only)
  • Items:
  • Developer Note: With Patch 2.6.7, we are beginning to roll out new class sets for every class in Diablo III. For the Season of Valor, we're focusing on the two classes that embody the Light and wield some form of Holy elemental damage: Crusader and Monk. You'll also find a handful of retuned or newly added Legendary powers intended to synergize with the new class sets. We did a lot of community research into which skills were most requested by players as well as most underrepresented in current builds, and we hope you're as excited as we are for these new gameplay options. The other class sets will be coming in later patches, so if your class isn't represented this time around, fret not—they're coming in a future patch!
  • You'll also notice a significant number of Barbarian item changes in this patch. While the Barbarian class set will be coming at a later date, we have very much heard the War Cry from our dedicated Barbarian community and implemented a number of changes heavily inspired by extremely thorough feedback. While not every suggestion has been taken at a 1:1 parity, the thoughtful analysis helped guide us to changes we could implement in this patch. Thanks very much to the community members who expressed their concerns in a respectful, constructive manner. It's very helpful, and we greatly appreciate the thought and effort that went into making your voices heard!
  • New Crusader Set: Aegis of Valor:
  • 2-Piece Bonus: The charged bolts from Fist of the Heavens has a chance to cast another Fist of the Heavens Attacking with Fist of the Heavens empowers you, allowing Heaven's Fury to deal 100% increased damage for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times (multiplicative).
  • 4-Piece Bonus: Hitting with Fist of the Heavens generates 5 Wrath and reduces damage taken by 1% for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 50 times
  • 6-Piece Bonus: Increase the damage of Fist of the Heavens and Heaven's Fury by 10,000% 20,000%
  • Developer's Note: Thank you so much for your thorough feedback and testing on the 2.6.7 PTR! We decided to add Heaven's Fury to the mix based on popular request as well as because we agree that it matches the theme and adds more gameplay complexity. There is also still room for tweaks and additional iteration in the future, and we're glad we were able to introduce a set so many of you are excited to use!
  • New Monk Set: Patterns of Justice:
  • 2-Piece Bonus: Sweeping Wind gains the effect of every rune and movement speed is increased by 5% for each stack of Sweeping Wind.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: Each enemy within Sweeping Wind increases your movement speed by 5%. Stacks up to 10 times. Attacking with Tempest Rush reduces your damage taken by 50% and increases Spirit Regeneration by 50.
  • 6-Piece Bonus: Hitting with Tempest Rush while Sweeping Wind is active will temporarily increase the size of Sweeping Wind after hitting over 30 times within a short period. Sweeping Wind damage is increased by 10,000% 15,000%
  • Developer's Note: Thank you so much for your thorough feedback and testing on the 2.6.7 PTR! We heard Monk requests for additional damage reduction and to better integrate Tempest Rush as a skill. We hope the result makes for a more survivable and engaging build that still captures that rush of Holy Justice sweeping through crowds of dastardly demons.
  • Darklight:
  • Fist of the Heavens has a [45-60%] 100% chance to be cast twice.
  • Additional Legendary Power: Increases the damage of Fist of the Heavens by [200-250%][800-1000%].
  • Eye of the Storm
  • New Legendary Power: When Sweeping Wind hits exactly 1 enemy, its damage is increased by 100%.
  • Developer's Note: With the redesign of Patterns of Justice, there was less need for this item's introduction. We've removed it for now and may consider adding it (or possibly a different Legendary power) at a later date.
  • Vengeful Wind
  • Increases the maximum stack count of Sweeping Wind by [6-7] 10
  • Additional Legendary Power: Increases the damage of Sweeping Wind by [250-300%] [600-800%].
  • Won Khim Lau:
  • New Legendary Power: Hitting with Tempest Rush will activate Cyclone Strike, and both skills deal [500-600%] increased damage.
  • Chantodo's Resolve:
  • The scaled attack speed damage bonus to Wave of Destruction has been reduced
  • Developer Note: This is a reactive adjustment from an earlier change to how Wave of Destruction receives a bonus from Attack Speed. The buff that resulted from that change was more than we expected, so we're reigning it in.
  • Wrath of the Wastes:
  • 6-Piece Bonus: The damage bonus now also applies to Rend
  • Lamentation:
  • Additional Legendary Power: Increases the damage of Rend by [150-200%]
  • Developer Note: While we were very happy with how much better Barbarians are performing, we are concerned we may have overshot it. By removing just one silo'd addition, we can observe how the class performance goes for Season 19 and consider re-adding this change in the future. Remember we still have a patch coming up where Barb will be one of the focused classes, so there will be plenty of time to revisit if necessary!
  • Ambo's Pride:
  • New Legendary Power: Attacking with Whirlwind also applies Rend and the total damage of Rend is dealt over 1 second
  • Remorseless:
  • Hammer of the Ancients has a [25-30%] chance to summon an Ancient for 20 seconds
  • New Legendary Power: While both Wrath of the Berserker and Call of the Ancients are active, Hammer of the Ancients deals [200-250%] more damage.
  • Fjord Cutter:
  • You are surrounded by a Chilling Aura when attacking.
  • New Legendary Power: Seismic Slam attacks 50% faster and also deals 100-150% increased damage against Slowed or Chilled enemies
  • Bracers of Destruction:
  • Seismic Slam deals [400-500%] increased damage to the first 5 10 enemies it hits.
  • Fury of the Ancients:
  • Call of the Ancients gains the effect of the Ancients' Fury rune and your Ancients attack 100% faster
  • Bone Ringer:
  • Now has a cap of 60 stacks.
  • Developer Note: We never intended for this item to be used in a way where you farm stacks for an egregious amount of time (5+ minutes) and then watch all their health disappear in less than a second. It's not an engaging style of gameplay, and we don't want that experience to be the best way to play the Necromancer.
  • Legacy of Dreams:
  • This gem is now more likely to drop from a Greater Rift Guardian
  • Monsters:
  • Blighter:
  • Blighter's Poison Tentacles' Area of Effect now hits less frequently, but at higher damage, when attacking players
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Wizard:
  • Archon:
  • Fixed an issue where certain item bonuses (such as from the item Deathwish) would persist between changing forms to/from Archon
  • Developer's Note: A few patches ago, we stated we were going to continue to observe Bazooka Wizard to see its performance over time. Back then, we thought it would require a high level of skill to execute that would make it relatively less utilized as a hard, but rewarding, gameplay option. That hasn't been the case, as many feel it's too mandatory. In the context of this and other changes (like Bone Ringer and Chantodo's), we think it makes sense to make this change now.
  • Spite:
  • Fixed an issue where casting Restless Giant would cause the 200% physical bonus damage to fail to apply when the Gargantuan enraged
  • Squirt's Necklace:
  • Fixed an issue where some ground effects were causing the Squirt's Necklace buff to fall off despite being shielded

New in Diablo III 2.6.6a (Sep 27, 2019)

  • Bug Fixes:
  • Several bugs regarding Battle.net Services and Localization have been addressed

New in Diablo III 2.6.6 (Aug 21, 2019)

  • General:
  • A pet has been added that will be available for players who pre-purchase Warcraft III: Reforged Spoils of War Edition (PC Only)
  • Seasons:
  • The buff for Season 18, the Season of the Triune, has been added:
  • Triune's Will: All abilities have a chance when hitting an enemy to spawn a circle that gives a power. Only one circle can be active at a time:
  • Triune of Love (Power): Players in the circle receive a 100% damage bonus while active
  • Triune of Determination (Resource Reduction): Players in the circle receive a 50% discount on resources spent while active
  • Triune of Creation (Cooldown Reduction): While standing in an active circle, any skills currently on cooldown come off of cooldown more quickly
  • Developer Comment:
  • The last couple of Seasonal buffs have been focused primarily on end-game content. We wanted to try something different this Season with a buff that was more beneficial to players regardless of where they might be in their Season Journey. Triune's Will can come into play as early as level 1 and continue to make an impact on your game experience from the beginning to the end of the Season, and we're looking forward to seeing how players leverage this ever-changing boost throughout their adventures!
  • In addition, we received feedback from players during the PTR about colorblind accessibility. We've changed one of the blue-tinted circles to a darker, green earth tone that should stand out a lot more for affected players. We greatly appreciate your feedback!
  • Items:
  • Developer Note: There are additional specific notes below, but broadly for 2.6.6, we wanted to introduce a handful of new item powers targeted at two audiences: (1) certain classes with long-standing requests for balance/quality of life adjustments and (2) the broader player base for experimenting with Kanai's Cube. This means fewer class-specific new additions, but more additions that everyone has an opportunity to play with. We also experimented with making some of the craftable sets from Haedrig more appealing for fresh level 70's or players looking to maximize their farming runs. We hope to see some interesting new theorycrafting and tactics out of 2.6.6 and can't wait to see what the community does with this new loot!
  • Updated Item Notes: There are a number of notes below clarifying the intention of certain item functionalities. In a couple cases, such as with Flavor of Time, the item wasn't behaving properly during PTR per our intentions (which has been fixed). For others, we just wanted to provide more clarity about exactly how these items behave.
  • Flavor of Time:
  • New Legendary Power: Pylon effects last twice as long.
  • Note: Only wearers of this item gain this effect. This is intended.
  • The Executioner:
  • New Legendary Power: Attacks will slay enemies with less than (5-10%) health.
  • Note: This item's power does not work on followers. This is intended.
  • Stone Gauntlets:
  • New Legendary Power: Getting attacked will slowly turn you to stone... (You gain 50% more armor, but your movement speed is reduced by 15% and attack speed is reduced by 20%. This effect stacks up to 5 times)
  • PTR Update: This item now displays a buff icon and has a clearer in-game description. Thank you for the feedback!
  • Note: Immunity to control-impairing effects can work against the reduced attack and movement speed penalties. This is intended.
  • Echoing Fury:
  • New Legendary Power: Slaying enemies engulfs the wielder into a Frenzy. (Killing enemies increases your attack speed by 15% and movement speed by 5%. This effect stacks up to 5 times)
  • PTR Update: This item's power now works on kill assists and pet kills. Thank you for the feedback!
  • Squirt's Necklace:
  • New Legendary Power: While not taking damage, your damage is increased by up to 100% and damage taken is increased by up to 50%.
  • PTR Update: This item now displays a buff icon. Thank you for the feedback!
  • Messerschmidt's Reaver
  • New Legendary Power: Reduce the remaining cooldown of one of your skills by 1 second when you slay an enemy.
  • PTR Update: This item's power now works on kill assists and pet kills. Thank you for the feedback!
  • Mortick's Brace:
  • New Legendary Item: Wrath of the Berserker gains the effect of every rune.
  • Developer's Note: If you played during the Patch 2.2.0 PTR, you'll recognize this as an item that was later removed from the game before it went to live servers. At the time, Mortick's Brace gave too much power for a single item slot. However, the power curve of Diablo III has changed significantly since then and we're comfortable with bringing it back.
  • Developer's Note: We're not done with Barbarians, either. However, this is a change that required less testing and could be easily added to 2.6.6, so rather than waiting for a larger batch of changes, we saw no reason to hold this one back.
  • Spite:
  • Note: This item can be crafted from the Blacksmith and is not a normal loot drop
  • New Legendary Power: Non-cleaving Gargantuans gain the cleave and chilling effects of the Humongoid rune.
  • Legacy of Dreams:
  • New Legendary Gem:
  • While you have no set bonuses equipped, every Legendary item you have equipped increases your damage dealt by 3.75% and reduces your damage taken by 2%. (Max level 99)
  • Rank 25: This bonus is doubled for Ancient items.
  • Developer's Note: The end game opened up significantly with Season 17's Legacy of Nightmare's buff (and the community was clear about how much these new options were appreciated), but wanted to make this addition a more permanent fixture in a more streamlined way than simply making it baseline. This Legendary Gem should open that path up even further and at more opportunities than just late game Greater Rift pushing.
  • Crafted Sets:
  • Note: The following sets have been significantly revised from their existing level 70 counterparts. Items crafted prior to 2.6.6 will continue to exist in their old forms but will not be updated after the patch. In addition, after the patch, the old recipes will no longer be available to craft and all players will need to re-acquire these recipes by finding the plans again through Horadric Caches or by killing Odious Collectors.
  • Sage's Journey:
  • A Belt has been added to this set.
  • Haedrig the Blacksmith now automatically learns how to forge this set at Rank 12.
  • Captain Crimson's Trimmings:
  • (2) Set Bonus
  • Regenerates 6000 Life per Second
  • Reduces cooldown of all skills by10% 20%.
  • Now also reduces Resource Costs by 20%
  • (3) Set Bonus
  • Set bonuses have been replaced:
  • Damage dealt is increased by your total percentage of Cooldown Reduction
  • Damage taken is reduced by your total percentage of Resource Cost Reduction
  • Aughild's Authority:
  • (2) Set Bonus
  • Set bonuses have been replaced:
  • Reduces damage taken by 15%
  • Increases damage dealt by 30%
  • (3) Set Bonus:
  • Reduces damage from elites by 15% 30%
  • Increases damage against elites by 15% 30%
  • Cain's Destiny:
  • (2) Set Bonus:
  • Attack Speed increased by 8%
  • +50% Experience. (5.0% at level 70) (Moved from (3) Set Bonus)
  • (3) Set Bonus:
  • When a Greater Rift Keystone drops, there is a 25% chance for an extra one to drop.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an error that occurred when reporting a player via a friend request
  • Fixed an error that occurred when saving an existing Friend Note without making changes
  • PTR-Specific Bug Fixes:
  • Squirt's Necklace:
  • Fixed an issue where the damage taken increase was not reaching the 50% cap
  • Captain Crimson's Trimmings:
  • Fixed an issue where the bonus provided by this class set was subject to snapshotting

New in Diablo III 2.6.5 (May 16, 2019)

  • General:
  • Torment 14, 15, and 16 have been added to the game
  • Reward and difficulty levels of all new Torments closely match Greater Rift 65, 70, and 75 respectively
  • Portals left behind by Treasure Goblins may occasionally lead somewhere udderly ridiculous
  • Using an Ancient or Primal Puzzle Ring in Kanai’s Cube will produce a new result
  • Party portraits now display if a player’s Cheat Death buff has been recently used (PC Only)
  • When a boss is killed in a Nephalem Rift, a permanent ping will mark the location of the boss’ death until the Rift is closed
  • The Boss Notification screen has received a rework (PC Only)
  • The Greater Rift Notification screen has received a rework (PC Only)
  • The Greater Rift Completion screen has received a rework (PC Only)
  • Matchmaking no longer prevents players from joining a game while a Greater Rift is already in progress
  • Players who join the game will still be unable to join a Greater Rift in progress
  • The progress bar for a Greater Rift is now visible to all players in the game, regardless of whether they are participating in the Rift or not
  • Challenge Rifts
  • The amount of Death's Breath rewarded by completing a Challenge Rift has been increased
  • Quality of Life:
  • Seasons - The cap for earning additional stash tabs through the Season Journey has been raised from 4 to 5 (PC Only)
  • Search functionality has been added to Stash (PC Only)
  • All Crafters now have an Expand/Collapse All button for recipes (PC Only)
  • Most Bounty indicators are now displayed immediately after entering the Bounty area
  • Death’s Breath now drop in Horadric Caches
  • Developer Comment:
  • With 2.6.5, we’re aiming to address some of the longest standing and most desired quality of life features the community has brought to us. We’ve hit a little bit of everything, from adding additional Torment levels, making Ancient/Primal Puzzle Rings feel rewarding, and adding some Stash space improvements. Other changes were made to help smooth out overall gameplay, such as making Bounties feel like less of a chore and more rewarding and reworking a few of our notification screens.
  • In addition, we encountered a lot of technical issues with increasing overall stash space for players. Unfortunately, as these issues caused significant degredation of the overall gameplay experience, we ultimately had to take a step back on this quality of life improvement and table it for now.
  • Seasons:
  • The Season Journey Journal now displays all chapters, regardless of current progression
  • There is a new reward for completing the entirety of the Season Journey (Guardian):
  • For Season 17, the Galactic Wings are available
  • Added the buff for Season 17:
  • Player’s damage dealt is increased by 750% and damage taken is reduced by 4% for every Ancient Item they have equipped while having no Set Bonuses Active
  • Developer’s Comment:
  • The Season of Grandeur was by far our most popular Themed Season yet. In the wake of having a free Ring of Royal Grandeur active, we saw a lot of requests to try the same thing with the Legacy of Nightmares set power. • Developer’s Comment:
  • With Patch 2.6.4, we focused on making a lot of changes to different class sets to open up build diversity and level out the comparable power between classes. With 2.6.5, we’re continuing that trend through adjustments to (mostly) Legendary powers we feel have a very strong, fun fantasy, but needed some damage bumps.

New in Diablo III 2.6.4 (Jan 24, 2019)

  • General:
  • Quality of Life:
  • Five (5) additional Armory tabs have been added for all characters, bringing the total to 10
  • Legendary Potions are no longer stored in player inventory and can be accessed or changed by right-clicking on the potion icon in the action bar
  • Primal Legendaries are now marked by a red beam when they drop
  • Primal Legendaries on the ground are now indicated by a red pentagram icon on the mini-map
  • Primal Legendaries now have a red border and updated background on their icons
  • Philosophy:
  • For this patch, we wanted to include a few frequently requested Quality of Life changes and focused on better celebrating and indicating Primal Legendary drops.
  • Greater Rift Keystones are now stored in the Materials tab:
  • Any existing Greater Rift Keystones in both inventory and stash have been automatically moved
  • Greater Rifts:
  • Paragon points can no longer be swapped while a Greater Rift is open
  • Players can now be matched into public games where a Greater Rift is open:
  • Players who join in this manner will not be able to enter the active Rift, and players inside the Rift will be able to continue with no additional difficulty scaling until the run has been completed
  • Philosophy:
  • The gameplay of micro-managing Paragon points during the course of a Greater Rift doesn't feel like especially engaging gameplay, nor was it consistent with the other existing rules of entering a Greater Rift. In addition, the below change to matchmaking is to make it much easier for all players to find groups for Greater Rifts, as the previous window (only between Greater Rifts) is typically very small.
  • Seasons:
  • Season 16: Season of Grandeur:
  • When completing a Greater Rift level 70 solo for the first time in a Season, a Primal Legendary is guaranteed to drop from the Rift Guardian
  • The buff for Season of Grandeur has been implemented:
  • This buff gives all Seasonal players the legendary power from Ring of Royal Grandeur
  • This buff does not stack with additional Ring of Royal Grandeur (either equipped or in Kanai's Cube)
  • Unlike previous Seasonal buffs, this buff will not apply to Non-Seasonal players
  • Class Set Changes:
  • Philosophy:
  • We are taking another tuning pass across all class sets to improve class and set diversity at higher level Greater Rifts. Some of these values have been adjusted per our observations as well as player feedback during the 2.6.4 PTR. Thanks for testing!

Necromancers are powerful spell casters who lay waste to their enemies using curses and reanimation—along with an obedient cadre of pets. • Demon Hunter: Impale - Ricochet: Fixed a bug where the second bounce granted by this rune would sometimes fail if enemies were packed tightly together.
  • ITEMS:
  • General:
  • Primal Ancient Items:
  • Developer Philosophy
  • Primal Ancients are for players who have largely completed gearing for their build and finished their Season Journey, but want to continue playing. They’re also for non-seasonal players who have great gear and spend most of their time gaining Paragon Levels and upgrading Legendary Gems. We want to extend the excitement of seeing gear drop or spending Blood Shards at Kadala past the point of getting Ancients in every slot. Primals provide an avenue for dedicated players to complete a build, without feeling like required upgrades.
  • Legendary and Set items will now have a chance to roll as Primal Ancient
  • These items are much more rare than Ancient items and have perfect Ancient-level stats on all affixes, including the item’s Legendary Power
  • Note: Primal Ancients will only begin dropping after a character on the player’s account has reached Greater Rift 70 Solo
  • There are separate unlocks for normal and Hardcore characters, as well as Seasonal and non-Seasonal characters
  • The stats on these items will be tailored to the character class you are playing when the item first drops
  • Primal Ancient items salvage into 15 Forgotten Souls
  • Ancient Items
  • Now salvage into 3 Forgotten Souls

  • The damage bonus duration has been increased to 6 seconds
  • Class Specific Items:

  • Demon Hunter

  • The functionality of some items has changed
  • The Barber
  • This weapon is now a Ceremonial Knife instead of a Dagger, allowing it to roll the same damage as other Witch Doctor items

  • The number of procs generated by channeled skills while using this item has been reduced by 25%

  • Delsere’s Magnum Opus

New in Diablo III 2.4.2 (Aug 29, 2016)

  • GENERAL:
  • New difficulty levels, Torment XI-XIII have been added to the game
  • Knockbacks now apply a flat 40% increase to crowd control resistances
  • Monsters cannot be knocked back if they are over 65% crowd control resistant
  • Powers that apply knockbacks continuously, such as Black Hole, can bypass this resistance if they already knocked a monster back successfully. These powers increase the crowd control resistance by 20% per knockback instead of 40%
  • Developer Comments:
  • Players were finding that pulling monsters from extended ranges to a single point on the map and crowd controlling them onto that spot was the most effective strategy, especially in group play. Not only does this cause server performance issues, but it is a stagnant, non-interactive way to play. These changes are targeted at making crowd control more situational, ensuring individual contributors in a group can add to the damage of the party more frequently.
  • Gold rewards have been adjusted. The primary gold sink at the end-game is Empowered Rifts. We want to maintain a general ratio that when you are running Greater Rifts at a particular tier, you can empower approximately 1/3rd of them. Due to the rate at which gold rewards from Greater Rifts and empower costs were scaling it made the gold reward from Nephalem Rifts, Gilded Barons and The Vault feel insignificant by comparison. Lowering the growth rate of gold costs restores the relative value of these other activities while maintaining the ability to empower approximately 1/3rd of your Greater Rifts.
  • Gold rewards have been adjusted:
  • Greater Rift 26 and up has been rescaled to a flat 3% increase per tier
  • Torment VII-XIII has been changed to match Greater Rift reward scaling
  • The cost to empower a Greater Rift has been reduced to match the new gold reward rate
  • The amount of gold dropped by the Gilded Baron Treasure Goblin has been reduced
  • USER INTERFACE:
  • Pylons in Nephalem Rifts now have unique minimap icons
  • A hotkey has been added to the game to hide the UI
  • When the Blacksmith is trained to maximum level his recipe list will now start collapsed
  • The Menagerist Goblin now has a unique minimap icon
  • Further details at http://us.battle.net/d3/en/game/patch-notes/2-4-2.

New in Diablo III 2.3.0 (Aug 28, 2015)

  • NEW FEATURE: THE RUINS OF SESCHERON:
  • The frozen wasteland that is the Ruins of Sescheron are now open for exploration! Filled with new enemies, traps, and environmental hazards, you'll be able to explore the region and learn more about what befell the barbarians of Mount Arreat. Explore the Immortal Throne and obtain the ultimate treasure: Kanai's Cube.
  • NEW FEATURE: KANAI'S CUBE:
  • Kanai's Cube is a new artisan that offers a slew of new recipes to fully customize your items and catalogue your Legendary powers.
  • To aquire Kanai's Cube, visit Zoltun Kulle in New Tristram, Hidden Camp, Bastion's Keep Stronghold, or The Survivor's Enclave in Adventure Mode. He'll be quite pleased to guide you on your way.
  • Several recipes are available to players immediately upon acquiring Kanai's Cube:
  • Extract Legendary Power: Destroy an item to add its Legendary power to your catalogue of collected powers. Once a power has been extracted, it can be equipped to your character without the need to equip the item. Players may have one Weapon, one Armor, and one Jewelry power equipped at a time. Players may only equip powers from items that their characters can normally equip and use.
  • Reforge a Legendary Item: Completely re-rolls a Legendary item as though it had dropped for the first time. This includes any powers that may have been previously enchanted on the item. Note that reforged items may re-roll as either Ancient or non-Ancient, so reforge at your own discretion!
  • Upgrade Rare Item: Upgrades the quality of a level 70 Rare item to Legendary. This item will roll as a randomized Legendary that shares that item's equipment type.
  • Convert Set Item: Converts a Set item to a randomized piece of gear from the same Set. For example, if you convert a pair of Asheara's Finders, you could get Asheara's Custodian, Asheara's Pace, or Asheara's Ward in return.
  • Remove Level Requirement: Removes the level requirement from an item, allowing it to be equipped by a character of any level.
  • Convert Gems: Converts 9 of any color gem to 9 of any other color.
  • Convert Crafting Materials: Converts 100 normal, magic, or rare Crafting Materials to 100 of another type of non-legendary Crafting Material
  • NEW FEATURE: SEASON JOURNEY:
  • Each player approaches a new Season a little differently and we wanted to celebrate individual player successes. Beginning in Season 4, you'll be able to track your personal progress through the Season Journey interface.
  • A player's Season Journey is divided into chapters, each with their own descriptive goals and achievements. The further you advance in your Season Journey, the more difficult the milestones become and you'll find there are challenges for every level of player. Completing the highest level Tiers will unlock new portrait frame rewards to celebrate your accomplishments.
  • This feature will be available for testing once Season 4 begins on the PTR.

New in Diablo III 2.2.0 (May 13, 2015)

  • PATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Three new Treasure Goblins have made their way into the realm of Sanctuary. Riches await for those who can catch them!
  • When crafting gems and items, the entire quantity will now be crafted at once
  • You can now increase your Blood Shard cap by achieving a personal best in Solo Greater Rifts
  • Two new Legendary potions, two new Legendary gems, and dozens of new and revamped Legendary powers have been added
  • Several sets across all six classes have received significant improvements and new Barbarian, Demon Hunter, and Wizard sets have been added to the game
  • GENERAL:
  • New Seasonal rewards have been added to the game, including two new transmogrification appearances, a new pennant, and a new portrait frame
  • Several improvements have been made to looting items in mass:
  • Developer comments: This patch we took a hard look at our auto-pickup rules. We started by looking at an option to auto-pickup potions but as we discussed this further we realized it made more sense to just remove normal potions from the game completely. For crafting materials and gems we want to avoid simply having them auto-pickup but with the introduction of certain Treasure Goblin variants last patch the amount of clicking was excessive. We've implemented what we call "vacuum pickup" to alleviate how often you have to click to pick up a large quantity of items while maintaining some aspect of the physical pickup act.
  • Regular health potions have been removed from the game:
  • The health potion slot on the action bar is now a Bottomless Heath Potion that will heal you for 60% of your maximum Life
  • The functionality of Legendary potions is unchanged
  • Looting a crafting material will now also pick up all other materials of the same type within 20 yards
  • Looting a gem will now also pick up all other gems within 20 yards
  • A Wardrobe has been added to the town in each act next to Myriam the Mystic:
  • Clicking on the Wardrobe will open a new cosmetic window in which players can manage any wings, pets, pennants, and portrait frames unlocked on their account
  • CLASSES:
  • Every class has received a few changes this patch. Many of these changes are aimed at creating synergy with new Set and Legendary items or supporting revisions to existing Set items.
  • ITEMS:
  • A new class set has been added for the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, and Wizard. In addition, all classes have received updates to at least one of their existing sets.
  • This patch brings the introduction of many new Legendary rings. We hope to these rings lead to new and exciting build opportunities for players to explore.
  • Legendary powers on a number of existing items have been added or improved. Note that these changes are not retroactive and only apply to items found after 2.2.0. As a rule, we try to not to change existing Legendary items, though we will often make an exception for Set items. This is because Set items work in conjunction with each other and creating a new set would force players who have an existing set to start over.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent Account Bound Legendary item names from being faded out for players who were not eligible to loot them
  • Bonus Armor now properly rolls at an increased value on Ancient items
  • ACHIEVEMENTS:
  • Packs of Champion Archers in Westmarch now spawn as Revenant Archers instead of Skeletal Archers
  • The drop chance of Rakanishu's Blade has been increased
  • Increased the spawn chance of several extremely rare unique monsters in Act V
  • ADVENTURE MODE:
  • We would like to celebrate the individual accomplishments of players and personal progression on Solo Greater Rift leaderboards is great place to start. By defeating a higher Greater Rift you can now increase your blood shard cap. This seems like an appropriate reward since higher Greater Rifts also drop more blood shards, so the need for extra capacity increases as you progress further.
  • You can now increase your blood shard cap by achieving a personal best in Solo Greater Rifts:
  • The cap will be increased by 10 shards per Greater Rift level completed
  • Areas in which Keywardens are located now have a boss icon on the Waypoint map:
  • The icon will indicate whether or not the Keywarden has been killed
  • This is only for level 60+ games

  • Fixed an issue that prevented players who paid a Rift Keystone to enter the Greater Rift from being able to obtain an upgraded Rift Keystone if they were not in the game when the quest advanced to the "Talk to Orek in town" step

  • When crafting gems and items the entire quantity will now be crafted at once

New in Diablo III 2.1.0 (Nov 4, 2014)

  • New Feature: Seasons:
  • Seasons are an optional, recurring game mode that offers players the opportunity to periodically start fresh, leveling Normal or Hardcore characters from scratch without gold, resources, items, or previously earned Paragon experience. Similar to the separation between Normal and Hardcore game modes, Seasonal characters will have their own shared stash and artisan progression as well. Any items, gold, artisan progression, or Paragon experience earned during a Season will be rolled over to a player's non-Seasonal characters once the Season concludes.
  • Seasons offer unique rewards and new challenges for players, including new Legendaries, an exclusive Transmogrification set only available to those who compete in each Season, and new achievements called Conquests. Progress within a given Season will be tracked in our new Leaderboard system.
  • New Feature: Greater Rifts:
  • Formerly referred to as Tiered Rifts, Greater Rifts are a special type of timed Nephalem Rift. There are an infinite number of Greater Rift levels, and each Greater Rift level will be progressively more difficult than the last.
  • Completing a Greater Rift within its allotted time will allow players to progress to the next level (and if your time is exceptionally good, you may even skip multiple levels at once). Players can continue progressing through Greater Rift levels so along as they complete the Rift before its timer expires. Once a timer expires, players will reach the end of their current Greater Rift journey and their best results will be tracked in our new Leaderboard system.
  • New Feature: Leaderboards:
  • With the addition of Seasons and Greater Rifts, we want to provide players with a way to measure their progress within each of those environments. To do so, we've created Leaderboards.
  • Leaderboards will track a variety of competitive player data including Greater Rifts clear times, Seasonal achievement point totals, and Seasonal Conquest completion ranking across several different game styles. Designed to be informative and detailed, Leaderboards will also allow you to compare your progress to that of players within your gameplay region, on your friends list, and in your clan roster.
  • New Feature: The Cesspools:
  • In patch 2.1.0 and moving forward, players will now have a chance to spawn a new level environment while in a Nephalem Rift or Greater Rift: The Cesspools.
  • Originally designed as the sewers of Westmarch, we weren't quite able to include the Cesspools in the list of playable environments in Reaper of Souls by the time the expansion launched. Still, we loved the look and feel of this festering, dank underworld and have spent some time polishing it up for use in Nephalem Rifts and Greater Rifts. We hope you enjoy this new randomized landscape!
  • GENERAL:
