Cypher Bot Changelog

What's new in Cypher Bot 3.0

Jul 18, 2014
  • A major update has finally arrived. Multiple security issues have been patched (continue reading for security information) in this update. It also adds official OS X Mavericks compatibility, interface enhancements, and bug fixes.
  • SECURITY PATCHES:
  • Content is no longer printed to the OS X Console Log. Previously, decrypted content may have been printed in the OS X Console Log.
  • When Data-Saving is turned ON, Cypher Bot now stores your content in the login Keychain. By storing sensitive content in the Keychain, it remains encrypted and secure even when it is not being used by Cypher Bot.
  • Keywords must be typed in a secure field. They are now hidden using password dots.
  • NEW FEATURES:
  • Decryption validation: Cypher Bot will check if your file is encrypted before decrypting it. If the file is not encrypted and you attempt to decrypt, Cypher Bot will warn you.
  • Keyword review: No more insecure keywords. Cypher Bot will determine if your keyword is weak or strong before encrypting and let you know.
  • Improved accessibility descriptions, layout, and help. VoiceOver and other accessibility features included in Mac OS X should work with Cypher Bot.
  • DESIGN CHANGES:
  • Cypher Bot has slimmer and cleaner buttons. Content boxes are much larger too.
  • Plus, Cypher Bot now has two beautiful and clean modes: Dark & Light. Choose between the new looks from the Preferences Pane.
  • OS X MAVERICKS COMPATIBILITY:
  • Cypher Bot 3.0 is fully compatible with OS X Mavericks (10.9.x). Issues that may have occurred with Mavericks are fixed. Improved Notifications to show file icons and additional details on Mavericks.
  • BUG FIXES:
  • Fixes an issue where encrypted text would improperly wrap to the next line, resulting in issues when sending Quick Links.
  • Fixes an issue where the app would momentarily freeze when sharing content.
  • Preferences are now correctly read and saved by Cypher Bot.

New in Cypher Bot 2.2 (Oct 7, 2013)

  • Fixes a bug for OS X Lion users where Cypher Bot would crash on app-load. Everything should run smoothly now. More updates coming soon! Send us feedback if you have a suggestion.

New in Cypher Bot 2.1 (Sep 5, 2013)

  • This update brings additions and changes to file encryption, UI appearance, and settings.
  • FILE SELECTION:
  • Cypher Bot can now encrypt any file type. We've removed all file type restrictions so that you can select and encrypt any file on your Mac. Folders, File Aliases, and Bundles / Package Files cannot be encrypted by Cypher Bot (because they aren't actually files!).
  • SETTINGS:
  • New settings have been added in the Preferences Menu that allow for more control over Cypher Bot and more secure data.
  • THEMES:
  • Cypher Bot now comes with beautiful new dark and light themes available in an all new theme picker. We've also fixed some issues where a theme change may not show up until the next launch.
  • FUTURE UPDATES:
  • We have huge plans for future updates including password encryption and management, better file and text encryption, a better decryption error system, and secure iCloud file sync. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr for updates!
