  • Using double quotes in the Display Name of a wine entry can cause several stability issues.
  • Pressing the Research button on the panel to add a wine causes a crash.
  • Pressing the Research button when there is only the Display Name field filled in can cause a crash.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.11 (Oct 29, 2010)

  • A new field has been added: "Purchase Value". This compliments the existing "Bottle Value" by allowing you to record what you paid for your wine in the Purchase Value field, and then keep track of the current value in the Bottle Value field. The Purchase Value field joins the Bottle Value field in the stats display so you can quickly see the difference between purchase value and current value for a group of wines.
  • Previous versions did not handle non-ASCII characters very well. Even when a field would accept a non-ASCII character, the syncing mechanism would usually fail because of such characters. This release brings support for the full UTF-8 character set across all platforms (Mac, Windows, iPhone/iPad, and web) allowing the proper use of non_ASCII characters in all text-base fields.
  • The mis-spelling of "Vintage" was corrected in all platforms.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.10 (Aug 10, 2010)

  • A Statistics window has been created to show you some basic stats on the wines currently displayed in the list on the List Tab. These statistics currently include: number of entries, number of bottles, and total value of displayed wines. This window dynamically updates while it is present. You access the Statistics windows from the Stats button on the toolbar (Mac); Stats entry in the view menu (Windows). For those who use the Graph tab: the Statistics window will give you the stats only for those wines being shown.
  • Helper lists are no longer stored in the database. They are dynamically generated from existing wine entries each time you launch wineCellar. Adding new wines will cause new helper items to be dynamically added. Deleting wines, however, will not remove helper items until the next time wineCellar is launched. If no wines are present, the standard default items will be used for each given helper list.
  • Changing fields of a given wine did not immediately update the corresponding fields for that entry in the list tab.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.9 (Jul 6, 2010)

  • Wine entry Display Names can be up to 60 characters long but a bug in the syncing routines can trigger a syncing issue when the Display Name exceeds 25 characters. This release fixes the syncing bug.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.8 (Jul 2, 2010)

  • An issue exists on the Mac version of wineCellar where an image file dragged to the label field is mistaken to be a bitmap.
  • This will cause the image to initially display ok, but will not display properly later.
  • The label will not sync properly to the cloud as the cloud software will not be able to recognize the image.
  • This release addresses this issue to ensure proper image type identification.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.7 (Jun 7, 2010)

  • The search field was being saved and applied when wineCellar is relaunched.
  • However, the loaded search term was not put into the search field making it look like you have lost wine entries.
  • It was decided to stop saving the search term upon exiting wineCellar.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.6 (May 7, 2010)

  • Use of double-quotes in any of the wine fields will prevent that wine from being saved to the database. This affects the ability to sync wines with double-quotes from the cloud as well. This update resolves this issue allowing full use of quote symbols.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.5 (Apr 1, 2010)

  • A long-standing issue with the Mac version of wineCellar has left the default database name as: /Users/doug/Documents/wineCellar.sqlite. When you first launch wineCellar on a Mac, unless your username is "doug", the application would not function properly (form popups would not work) and it would not be able to save any new entries. The workaround was to create a new database using the File->New Database menu. This default has been corrected in this update to be /Users//Documents/wineCellar.sqlite.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.4 (Mar 26, 2010)

  • The list tab now has a details pane showing information on currently selected wine. This is a fully editable details pane which saves you needing to open a dialog window to view/edit your wines. Changes to a wine are saved automatically when you go to a different wine, press the sync button, or quit out of the app. A "Reset" button at the bottom of the pane lets you rollback unsaved changes.
  • A "Check for Update" menu item has been added under the File menu. This will tell you if there is a newer version of wineCellar available. An automated check is done once a week.
  • Graph tab is now turned off unless activated from the View menu. The graph tab has been confusing for many users so it is not present by default.
  • The search field has been re-done to follow the conventions of the platform you are running on.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.3 (Feb 22, 2010)

  • The expiry date for the cloud account has been removed. There is no time limit on being able to sync up to 500 wines to the Cadent Cloud (no subscription fee).
  • The Windows version now supports Windows 7.
  • A crash when launching under Windows 7.
  • A crash when right-clicking on a graph node under Snow Leopard (10.6).
  • A rare condition where choosing a selector on a graph node does nothing.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.1 (Jul 16, 2009)

  • A bug fix release to address one critical issue: Trying to sync to the cloud with a filter checked or search field active can cause a crash of wineCellar.

New in Cadent wineCellar 2.0 (Jun 30, 2009)

  • Cloud service allows up to 500 wines to be synchronized, including labels.
  • Communication between wineCellar and Cadent Cloud is done over a secure https connection.
  • Once wines have been pushed to the cloud, two web sites exist allowing you to access the wine information: a standard web site for desktop browsers, and a web site for mobile devices. Both sites are secured (https).
  • The Cloud service can also be used as a sync-point for multiple wineCellar applications which have the same license (you are allowed to use the same license on all computers owned by you).
  • Cloud service is not available to the 30-day trial, only to licensed users.
  • Account for the cloud is created/maintained by the wineCellar application.
  • One free year's use of the cloud service comes with the purchase of wineCellar. Thereafter, a yearly subscription fee of $15 (USD) will be required to maintain service.
  • wineCellar 2.0 is a free upgrade for wineCellar 1.x owners. This includes the one free year cloud service.

New in Cadent wineCellar 1.3 (Feb 19, 2009)

  • A "Research" button has been added to the wine dialog window. Pressing this button will launch your default web browser sending it to the Snooth Website automatically searching it for the given wine.

New in Cadent wineCellar 1.2 (Jan 26, 2009)

  • Proper list printing support has been added:
  • Print, Page Setup, and Print Preview menu items are active under the File menu when on the List tab.
  • Use the selectors to get the list tab showing what you want to print, click on the columns to sort the way you want, then choose print from the File menu.

New in Cadent wineCellar 1.1 (Dec 8, 2008)

  • Able to fully access the wine databases created using the Windows version.
