Adobe XD Changelog

What's new in Adobe XD CC 22.0.12.12

Aug 13, 2019
  • Edit in Photoshop:
  • Now you can open and edit images in Photoshop directly from XD. When you’re done editing, simply hit “Save” and images will be automatically updated in XD in real time.
  • Plugins Panel:
  • Access your favorite plugins right in the XD interface. The Plugins Panel puts a world of new capabilities and connections to other apps and services at your fingertips, without breaking your workflow.
  • CSS Snippets in Design Specs:
  • Design Specs now includes automatically-generated CSS code snippets that developers can copy and paste right into their code, so it’s easier than ever to bring your design vision to life.
  • Improvements to component bounds:
  • Based on feedback from our community, we've changed how component bounds are defined and set to make resizing and aligning components easier.

New in Adobe XD CC 21.0.12.11 (Jul 16, 2019)

  • Unified development links:
  • Now you can share a single link with developers that includes both prototype interactions and design specs, saving your developers time as you better communicate your design intent.
  • Grid view in shared links:
  • Quickly navigate a shared prototype or design spec links using the new grid view. Stakeholders can easily see all artboards in a project, or jump to a specific screen to view linked artboards or actual artboard content.
  • Presence:
  • See when other designers are working on the same document to avoid conflicting edits and duplicative work. When you see your team member’s’s avatar in XD, it means they’ve opened the same doc.
  • Commenting on mobile:
  • Stakeholders can now easily review and add comments to a shared web prototype, right from their mobile device.

New in Adobe XD CC 20.0.12.10 (Jun 18, 2019)

  • Plugins Panel:
  • Access and interact with plugins right in XD. All your installed plugins appear in one place, and you can add more at any time.
  • XD for Jira 2.0:
  • This new integration makes additional information about XD documents — like the number of artboards or avatars — available in Jira, so it’s even easier to collaborate.
  • Text additions:
  • Create text symbols for trademarks, copyright, and more by adding superscripts and subscripts into your design.
  • Property Inspector improvements:
  • Now Prototype mode supports the Property Inspector, which lets you show property options for a selected object and perform operations at scale across multiple artboards.

New in Adobe XD CC 19.0.22 (May 14, 2019)

  • Create and maintain a design system:
  • Keep everyone on your design team in-sync with linked assets, components (formerly symbols), and cloud documents that can be shared and updated in real-time.
  • Components with overrides:
  • Now it’s quick and easy to create multiple variations of a design element with components. Change any property while keeping the ability to override any of the common properties across the set.
  • Responsive resize for components:
  • No more ungrouping components to resize them for multiple artboards. Now responsive resize works on components the same way it does with groups of objects on the design canvas.
  • Linked Assets:
  • Import components, colors, and character styles into your current document from your or any shared XD cloud document. You’ll be notified of any changes made so you can accept or ignore updates.
  • Keyboard and gamepad triggers:
  • For the first time ever you can bring your prototypes to life using keyboard and gamepad triggers. Interact with your prototypes using your keyboard as well as Xbox One and DualShock 4 controllers.
  • Artboard guides:
  • Simply drag guides from the top or left side of your artboard. They’re easy to copy and paste on multiple artboards allowing you to align elements and position them consistently.
  • Polygon tool:
  • Quickly create a variety of shapes directly within XD — triangles, pentagons, hexagons, and more.
  • Improved type control:
  • XD now includes support for uppercase, lowercase, title case and strikethrough, in the XD design application and in web and mobile previews.
  • Voice prototype notifications:
  • When a prototype isn’t responding to a voice command, you can troubleshoot that interaction in the desktop preview app — with a visual preview of what Adobe XD is hearing.
  • Request access to private prototypes and design specs:
  • Now you can keep work moving by requesting access to a privately shared prototype or design spec and the owner can approve or deny access.

New in Adobe XD 0.5.16 Beta (Aug 16, 2016)

  • Linear Gradients - Create, edit, and apply linear gradients to objects on the canvas from within the color picker.
  • Korean language support - XD is now available in Korean.
  • Hex Shorthand
  • Instant Transitions
  • Linear Gradients:
  • One of our most frequently requested features has landed. You can now create, edit, and apply linear gradients to vector objects directly in XD. What’s more: you can quickly bring existing linear gradients from Illustrator into XD with simple copy and paste commands. Your color selections and stops are all transferred over into XD along with the shape you’ve pasted.
  • To create a linear gradient, select the vector you want to apply a linear gradient to, navigate to the color picker (located in the property inspector), and change the fill from solid to gradient. A gradient will now appear in the shape. Once you’ve converted to a gradient fill, you can add, select, move, and delete color stops along the bar at the top of the pop-up. Modify each stop’s color and transparency using the familiar color picker and appearance controls.
  • When you create a gradient by changing a vector object’s fill from solid to gradient, you’ll notice that a control line appears in the shape itself. This control line allows you to position the gradient’s endpoints and angle. Furthermore, you can add new color stops and reposition them by sliding them along the control line.
  • Hex Shorthand:
  • Save time when specifying hexadecimal codes in the color picker using a few quick shortcuts. Here are a few examples:
  • Type Populates the hex code line with:
  • AB #ABABAB
  • ABC #AABBCC
  • A #AAAAAA
  • august_release_hex_shorthand
  • Hex shorthand in action.
  • Instant Transitions:
  • In this release, we’ve added the ability to specify an animation’s segue as “none”. This allows you to create instant transitions which are immediate and do not contain any easing. This feature is particularly helpful in simulating changes to an artboard’s state (drop-downs, collapsing/expanding, etc.).
  • In the animated example below, a menu icon is linked to a second artboard (which shows the menu in its expanded state). In prototype mode, the icon has been linked to a second artboard which shows the expanded menu using an instant transition (segue:none). The second artboard was then set to return to the previous artboard (a new feature in July).
  • Renaming “Slide” Transitions to “Push”:
  • In this release, we’ve made changes to our segue naming based on your feedback. “Slide” transitions will now be referred to as “Push”. We believe this better matches the definitions designers are already using. Look out for proper “Slide” transitions in September’s release.
  • The chart and animations below are intended to show how we’re defining Push and Slide transitions in this release forward. Let us know if you have any questions or further feedback.
  • What it does:
  • Moves an artboard off-screenat the same speed and in the same direction as a second artboard. The new artboard “pushes” the old artboard in its entirety. What it does:
  • A new artboard slides over an existing artboard (which exits with a slight parallax effect). The new artboard “slides” over the first artboard.
  • What it looks like:
  • august_release_push_animation What it looks like:
  • august_release_slide_animation
  • Korean Language Support:
  • A while back, the XD team visited design agencies in Korea, to better understand the challenges and workflows designers encounter everyday. We also learned how rapidly UI/UX design was growing in Korea, and are thrilled to announce that Korean is now supported in XD.
