  • For new AIM users, easily get started and enjoy the benefits of IM'ing by logging into AIM with your Facebook ID. For current AIM users, continue to login to AIM and easily chat with your Facebook Friends by adding them to your Buddy List.
  • Make it easier for friends to find you in the Buddy List by adding your first and last name to AIM. As you add more buddies this allows you and your buddies to easily find each other in the list. You can easily toggle between the two settings under Menu -> View -> Full Name.

New in AIM 2.1.266 Beta 3 (Feb 11, 2010)

  • This is a beta of epic proportions! AIM has teamed up with Facebook, and now you can chat with your Facebook friends - right from AIM!
  • After you sign into AIM, click the "Facebook Connect" button at the top of your buddy list to set up Facebook chat. When you are done your Facebook friends will be added to your buddy list. You can now chat with your friends who are using the Facebook site!

  • Find out who calls you a buddy. But you'll need to open your Buddy List up too. "Buddy Lists I'm on" is now available on the Me tab, just click the number to see details. For your privacy, this feature is set to private ("Just Me") by default but will be available for you to manage in the next AIM for Mac beta (this feature is not yet available on iPhone). New in AIM 1.5 Beta 2 (Apr 15, 2009)

  • New Feature: Custom Buddy Icons - You can now use your built-in iSight camera to create a new Buddy Icon or select a graphic file from your Mac. Clicking the Buddy Icon at the top of the Buddy List or selecting Edit > Buddy Icon... from the menu items will launch the Buddy Icon editor.
  • Buddy Icon Editor - The Buddy Icon editor will allow you to reshoot your Buddy Icon photo, resize the photo or select an existing image on your Mac. Once you have your image selected, you will be able to apply a special image effect (ASCII art, pixellate, Pop Art, etc.) for a uniquely customized Buddy Icon.
  • You can even view your Recent Pictures to select a Buddy Icon you previously created. Your new Buddy Icon will now be set on the AIM servers so it will show up even if you log in on a different Mac (or AIM for iPhone) with that Screen Name.

  • AIM conversation logging: The logging is disabled by default and can be enabled in the AIM > Preferences > IM tab > IM Logging section.
