IINA For Mac

IINA is a video player based on the MPV open source project that aims to provide a modern space for watching videos, managing playlists, dealing with the media content or loading subtitles to your movies.

Right off the bat, you need to use the IINA file menu to direct the app to the media you want to play: you get to load local files or provide the video URL. The app can work with all the popular media formats.

Note that IINA will detect all the supported videos from a user selected folder and will automatically add them to the playlist panel. What’s more, IINA also enables you to navigate through chapters.

Worth mentioning is that IINA does not waste any space for menus: all the control bars hide automatically, and the entire app window is reserved for rendering the video. Naturally, you get to easily resize the IINA window, or even switch to fullscreen mode.

IINA allows you to manage the media playlists or tweak the video, audio and subtitle rendering via unobtrusive menus, but the frequently used tools also come with predefined hotkeys.

The video player includes most function one would expect from a full featured media rendering application. What’s more, you can use filter strings in MPV format to further process both the video and the audio content.

Further customization options are included in the IINA’s Preferences window where you can quickly change the interface theme, tweak the default behavior and user interface, decide if you want to load the subtitles automatically, configure new keybindings, and so on.

The IINA project is still under development, but the player manages to deliver a beautiful space where you get to render high-quality media without cluttering your desktop.

Within the IINA’s user interface you get to work with playlists, adjust details related to the video or audio rendering, load and sync subtitles, and so on.

The IINA player also comes with Touch Bar support so that you can navigate the playback slider bar with ease from the top of your keyboard.
