Sometimes, working with a large number of files that need to be moved from one place to another using the OS X’s native Finder app, isn’t the most efficient way to do things.

Sure, you can have many opened Finder windows and tabs on your Mac’s screen, and shuffle between them using OS X's Mission Control or by using its built-in keyboard shortcuts, but a far better way to manage files on your Mac’s hard-drive is offered by Xfolders.

Xfolders is a Norton Commander look-alike version for OS X that makes it very easy for you to manage files via a its dual-pane file browser interface.

Right from the start, Xfolders will feel absolutely at home on your Mac because it features full Finder integration and, evidently, supports all file and folder operations from and to the Finder.

Xfolders’ resemblance with the old Norton Commander can be easily noticed right after you start up the app due to the fact that it has a clean and intuitive user interface with two folder lists on each side, as well as two handy toolbars, one on the top part and another one with hot-key combos at the bottom.

Moreover, the main advantage for using Xfolders is by far the way in which it enables you to save clicks and mouse movements while managing your files. The application also comes with full drag and drop support to and from the Finder.

Xfolders supports all important file operations such as copying, moving, deleting, renaming files, archiving and opening archives, as well as creating new folders.

Worth mentioning is the fact that Xfolders comes with an integrated image browser, an integrated terminal, integrated Spotlight search, an info dialog for changing folder attributes, a path navigator, and also offers support for bookmarking folders.

Last, but not least, Xfolders offers you quick access to the most useful OS X utilities, namely Terminal, Console, Activity Monitor, Disk Utility, KeyChain Access, Network Utility, Netinfo Manager, and System Profiler.

Xfolders is a very fast and user friendly file manager that definitely deserves a spot in your Mac's Applications folder, if you want to improve your file management workflow while also saving a lot of useless clicking and window shuffling in the process.
