Timer For Mac

Having a good timer app can get you out of a lot of trouble, but you shouldn’t waste too much time configuring the counters.

Timer is a small app that works with drag and drop and enables you to setup as many counters as you like.

The Timer user interface is represented by a small window where you get to see the current time and set the counter value by dragging the arrow around: a full circle represents an hour, but you can go further and set counters that go on for multiple hours.

Within the Timer main window, you will be able to follow the visual representation and see the clock arrow winding back, while in the middle of the circle you get to see how much time is left, expressed in minutes and seconds.

Worth mentioning is that even though you can configure multiple timers by simply launching new windows (you can either go through the status bar menu or use the Command + N hotkey), you cannot set custom alert messages.

As a result, when a counter is up, you are notified through the Notification Center that your timer is up, but you have to memorize why have you set each timer. On this note, limiting yourself to setting up just a couple of timers might be advisable.

The Timer app will pair the visual notifications with audio alerts, but you don’t get to change the default sound effects either.

To sum up, Timer comes with a beautiful and intuitive design and offers you the possibility to quickly define counters with minimal effort.

On the other hand, the app does not feature any customization options, which might prove useful especially when working with a vast number of timers.
