Keeping raw footage backed up in multiple locations is essential to make sure you don’t lose any data, yet the recordings usually take up a lot of space, which makes the transfer process rather time-consuming. OffShoot is a backup manager optimized to deal with these tasks so that you can work with multiple sources and destination locations, monitor the transfers, and get alerted when the task is complete.
Upon launch, OffShoot will scan your Mac for connected disks and will display them in the main window. The utility can work with RAID, NAS, SAN, USB, or Thunderbolt disks, as well as remote servers or cloud services.
Note that each volume comes with an associated contextual menu, so you can easily set one of the contained folders as a source or destination location. You get to set a disk as unused, add it to the ignore list, rename the volume, or open it in a Finder window.
Once everything is set up properly, just press the “Start Transfers” button and the utility will take care of the rest. You get to track the process within the app and get confirmation messages via the Notification Center.
For your convenience, OffShoot allows you to work with scripts to streamline certain repetitive actions. The app will log both the transfers and the script's activity so that you can check the app’s performance.
OffShoot brings to the table an uncomplicated workflow for configuring backup transfers from varied sources to even more backup locations while taking advantage of all available resource to reduce the processing time.
The best part is that OffShoot comes with an iOS companion app, so you can rely on it to get transfer completion alerts on your mobile device.
