EOS Utility For Mac

EOS Utility is a straightforward macOS application developed by Canon Inc. that aims to provide Canon EOS camera owners with all the necessary tools for for quick image transfer and for operating their cameras with the help of their computers.

Evidently, in order to use EOS Utility, your Canon camera must be connected with your Mac and turned on. The utility enables you to connect your Canon EOS camera either with the help of the cable supplied with your camera, or via Wi-Fi (if your camera has Wi-Fi connection capabilities).

In the case that your camera doesn’t have Wi-Fi connection capabilities, the application enables you to connect it to your computer via a separate Wireless File Transmitter.

The package software will install the following components: EOS Utility 2, EOS Utility 3, EOS Lens Registration Tool, EOS Web Service Registration Tool. The EOS Utility 3 supports camera models from Canon’s top range such as EOS 7D Mark II, EOS-1D X, EOS-1D C, EOS 5D Mark III, and EOS 6D.

Note that, when any model other than the ones mentioned above is connected to your Mac, EOS Utility will take over the connection process.

Once the application establishes the connection with your camera, you will be greeted by a streamlined and minimalist user interface. Within its interface you can batch download all images from your camera onto your Mac’s hard-drive or  download only selected images, as well as access the camera’s important functions.

Via the Camera settings / Remote shooting menu, you can change the camera owner’s name, date, time, as well as important functions like picture style, white balance, image quality.

Within the same menu, you can efficiently control your camera remotely and perform operations like adjust the focus, zoom in and out, live image shooting and video recording, and timer-controlled shooting.
