Measure the read and write performance of any storage device, including internal drives, by running various types of tests and share the results via an image file. #Test performace #Read performance #Write performance #Test #Read #Write
AmorphousDiskMark offers you the possibility to test the performance of any drive without going through complex configurations. Just adjust the test count, size, and interval, and the app takes care of the rest.
AmorphousDiskMark is designed to measure the megabytes per second and the Input/Output operations per second and display the results in its main window. The app features four types of tests, each featuring a different kind of data block.
As a result, AmorphousDiskMark can work with sequential 128KiB blocks, random sequence 4KiB blocks, sequential 1MiB blocks, and random sequence 4KiB blocks. It is up to the user if the app runs the test for all block types or only a particular sample.
Note that before starting the tests, you get to adjust the test counter value, the test size (going from 50MiB to 32GiB), and the drive you want to test. AmorphousDiskMark will automatically detect all the volumes connected to your Mac, and you can even test the internal disks.
Via the AmorphousDiskMark Settings menu, you get to decide if you want to use random data or all zeros, adjust the test interval (going from 0 seconds to 10 minutes) and change both the sequential and random queue depth.
However, take into account that one should not repeat these performance tests unnecessarily since they might affect the life span of the storage drive you are assessing.
Once the performance tests are complete, AmorphousDiskMark offers you the possibility to save a screenshot of the app’s main window as a PNG file. Naturally, this is how you get to share the results with others.
To conclude, AmorphousDiskMark delivers a minimalist user interface where you get to configure and run read and write data block tests that can help you assess the performance of your drive.
The AmorphousDiskMark app can work with different types of data blocks, allows the user both the test size and interval and helps you share the results via an image file.
