The newest Apple TVs come with a beautiful screensaver made up of a series of aerial movies recorded in San Francisco, New York, London, China and many other locations. If you would like to use these clips on your Mac as well, there is now a simple way to do so.

Aerial allows you to set up a personalized screensaver that streams the movies directly from Apple or loads them from local storage, and plays them whenever your Mac is idle.

In terms of quality, the clips are truly stunning. They are captured in multiple locations around the world from a slow-moving aircraft and encoded as high-definition 1080p or 4k videos.

There are a large number of them available, and you can choose which of them should be included in your screensaver, as well as the preferred format. A short description can also be displayed to help you pinpoint their location and provide additional info.

If you do not wish to save the videos locally, it is possible to stream them directly; this means that you need to be connected to the Internet at all times, and the high bandwidth usage will be a limiting factor for those with slow connections or traffic caps.

However, it is also possible to save the videos on your Mac as they are played, so that you can use them in offline mode and not worry about consuming your available Internet traffic.

Aerial can play a different video on each display, which should be very pleasing to those sporting multi-monitor setups.

If you specify the local sunrise and sunset time, the screensaver can play day or night videos at the appropriate time. What's more, Mojave users can view night-time videos whenever Dark Mode is enabled.

To sum up, this is a beautiful screensaver that brings the aerial videos recorded for the new Apple TVs on your desktop. Their quality is impressive, and they truly bring your Mac to life.

Two similar apps are also available for Windows PCs: Aerial and Aerial for Windows.
