Sending documents by fax remains a popular practice when official documentation is involved yet, if you do not deal with official situations on a daily basis, investing in a fax machine does not seem feasible. iFax is a small macOS application that allows you to send and receive faxes via your computer, and automatically creates a digital archive for your activity. Note that to use iFax you must register for a fax number and pay sending fees depending on the number of pages.

Within the iFax application, you get to quickly create new fax messages, buy the necessary credit (you can obtain credit via Mac App Store in-app purchases) and actually send them. You can also register for an iFax account free of charge, in order to access your history on all your devices.

Note that the iFax service comes with companion apps for various platforms, such as iOS, Android, or Windows 7 and 8. You can also handle your account via the web interface, using your default web browser.

Besides the recipient and sender details, via the iFax Wizard you get to create a fairly professional look for your message: you can use a cover page, you can add a logo or a signature, and you can add various documents with a simple drag and drop.

The best part is that you have the option to preview the message before sending in order to make sure everything is well. On the other hand, iFax can also be used to keep track and read incoming faxes.
