Free news reader for macOS which allows you to focus on the actual content instead of overmanaging your collection of website feeds. #News reader #Feed reader #Read news #Reader #News #Feed
RiverNews is a free news reader application for macOS designed to provide you with a new approach to staying up to date with new content from any website that comes with an RSS or Atom feed.
Moreover, the RiverNews utility displays a constant flow of news from your list of website feeds on its Articles main screen, with no visible feed structure to distract you and grab your attention.
While going through the new entries presented on the home news screen, you can open them in your default web browser or favorite them for later reading from the Bookmarks tab.
Besides the collection of feeds bundled within the app dubbed "trusted sources" by the development team, RiverNews also comes with a built-in feed manager which makes it possible for you to rapidly subscribe to or remove any of your feeds from its Articles main screen.
If you want articles from other websites, you can speedily add any new site as a news source using RiverNews' Manual Feed Addition tab.
If at any time you want to unsubscribe from any of the feeds you've added manually, you can do so with the help of the Explore & Manage Feeds tab.
When first launched, RiverNews will present you with a vertically elongated window suited for showing a flow of items on its Articles screen. However, you can also effortlessly resize the app's interface to match your window arrangement better.
If you already have a collection of feeds you want to import into RiverNews, you can make use of the Import OPML option within the Feed menu. The app also provides you with the choice of quickly exporting your feeds as an OPML file whenever you want to back them up or transfer them to another feed reader.
Even though it proved to be an extremely competent news reader throughout the testing period, we managed to find a bug that the development can fix very easily: RiverNews crashes if you enable both the "Directly opens web page" and the "Open in the background" options at the same time.
If you're looking for a news reader with a focus on reading news instead of feed management, RiverNews is a fresh looking and user-friendly option you can try.
