View all open ports directly from your menu bar, open them in your browser, copy network URLs, and kill processes with a single click. #View Port #Close Port #Open Port #Port #Close #Kill
Handling ports is difficult at the best of times, and you certainly don't want to struggle with finding a process that's keeping a port locked when you're in a hurry to get a project done. Given that this is a pretty common scenario for a developer, an app that can help you out is a godsend.
Port Manager was created to make the task of tracking, opening and closing ports much simpler. It runs in the menu bar and lists everything you need in a simple menu, always at hand when you require it.
Bloat is the last thing you would want from such an application, and you thankfully get none of that. Port Manager is lightweight and unobtrusive. You will find it in your menu bar when you need to close or open a port, and it won't bother you otherwise.
If you only want to know how many ports are open at any given moment, you don't even need to click the app's icon — the port count is indicated in the menu bar at all times.
Everything else aside, you're probably downloading this app to free up some ports quickly. If so, you're in luck! Using Port Manager is a log quicker than googling for a Terminal command. Just open the menu, find the port, and kill the process that's hogging it. That's all there is to it.
Aside from just terminating processes, the app lets you copy the port's URL to the clipboard, which is handy when you need to share something, and it can also open it directly in your default browser.
The only (albeit small) issue that I could find is that you don't have the option to hide the open port counter in the menu bar icon. If you like to keep your menu bar clean, a simple icon might be preferable. This isn't a huge deal, but it's certainly a feature that could be added in a future version.
All things considered, Port Manager is an incredibly useful little app that developers, in particular, will probably love. It's small, simple, and unobtrusive, and it makes handling ports easier than ever before.
