One of the great benefits of using a Mac is having access to Apple’s in-house software for video and audio editing, which is cheaper than comparable alternatives and is widely used even by professionals.

Logic Pro, just like Final Cut Pro, is intended to serve as a complete music production suite, offering everything a professional would need. It’s a worthwhile upgrade for users who feel that Garageband isn’t quite enough for their needs, and it competes with other industry-leading DAWs at a fraction of the price.

In version 10.7, Apple added the ability to create Spatial Audio mixes with Dolby Atmos integration. This is one of the most exciting new features added to Apple Music, and you can now create fully compatible files in Logic Pro.

You can customize positioning using the 3D Object Planner, and the integrated Dolby Atmos renderer plug-in allows you to visualize 3D objects and monitor in multi-channel mode.

Logic Pro, just like Garageband, has always included plenty of audio resources to get you started, and the collection has gotten even larger. Eight more Producer Packs were added, all with royalty-free audio from well-known producers, sound packs, loops, kits, and patches.

These resources are great for both newcomers and veterans, but make sure you have enough space to spare if you’re planning on installing the entire sound library.

For the 10.7 release, Apple has also done a bit of work to the user interface, though it’s nothing too noticeable. It’s a slightly cleaner look to bring it up to speed with the new OS, and it’s a welcome change, if not a drastic one.

Logic Pro remains one of the best options out there for producers, and it’s probably a good idea to try it out before looking at alternatives that cost a lot more money while offering a very similar feature set.
