| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | It's too bad that we don't have much choice on Mac. We don't have that much "freeware" on this platform. So we're simply stuck with Speed Download.
Now they they did a "bait and switch" tactic, I really have to complain if you are going to be one of them fish like us.
Anyway I blame it all on the marketing team, not the software developing team of Yazsoft. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | The SD 5 has serious problem with its new "live" throttling feature which due to a bug slows down the download to crawling speed. Work around is to switch to floater view and back to normal view and then adjust the throttling setting. However, I can't recommend this software to anyone since it is definitely just the opposite that is promised.
Regarding the GUI it has loads of features but due to its complexity its far from being intuitive. There is actually fairly steep learning curve in order get the benefits. Also the new GUI is more like candy coating and less about ease of use. For example SD 5 has replaced the download icon in the list view in order to favor a check box which does the same but without any visual clue before you actually click the box. The new simple view isn't really a simple one since you just get the server list removed but still its WAY more complicated then normal browser download view. Then there is the supper simple Floater view but that one lacks most important basic features of any built in download manager such as easily accessing your previous downloads.
The developer states that the application was complete re-write. However, I don't see the point (or maybe just because of this) since GUI is now way more unintuitive and bugs just cripple the whole user experience. So all in all this is very buggy upgrade so no point of upgrading. This should be still in beta stage. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | The software is nice but instead of bugfixxes to version 4 the devs want to make additional money by releasing an even buggier 5 as a paid update. especially the macheist guys know that this software is made by a bad company! |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | If you're thinking of buying software from this company, I urge you to look elsewhere. However, if you must have this product, the time to buy is NOW!
Given their development schedules between PAID upgrades, you probably have 8-9 months before the next 'support payment' is due.
Be warned, there should be 3-4 months of rocky roads and minor point releases, followed by 5-6 months of fairly smooth sailing..... And then; BOOM! You'll get a "update" notification, and your serial number will be invalid.
They'll probably adjust the "upgrade" price to $20 next year, and the main program price as well. All the while, act as if they're being generous to us measly little consumers.
They recently screwed over 43,815 new customers that bought Speed Download in the MacHeist bundle, just 3-4 weeks ago.
I implore you: Read the comments from today., read the extremely defensive comments from the developer over the last few years, and seriously reconsider any purchase you might make from this SharteWare developer. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Please be aware of the current problems surrounding Yazsoft's upgrade policy before deciding to do business with them.
They have used a "bait and switch" scam tactic to try and extract money from MacHeist customers. |
