Duplicate photos take up disk space unnecessarily which can be a problem regardless of your disk drive size. PhotoBrain is a small application designed to help you detect and remove duplicate images.

PhotoBrain comes with a modern, very organized user interface and an intuitive workflow. To get started, simply drag and drop files and folders on top of the app’s main window.

Advanced scanning settings enable you to apply search filters, choose to scan your entire drive or a network disk or create an exclusions list. PhotoBrain will generate a list of duplicate images and you must select one of the entries to view all the duplicate files.

PhotoBrain is not identifying copies by comparing metadata, keywords or watermarks: the application is using an image identification algorithm and point out photos that are the same.

Take into account that PhotoBrain allows you to use two different search methods: single search (you provide a single image and PhotoBrain scans certain locations to find files that have the same content) or duplicates tool (scans folders and identifies all duplicate images).

PhotoBrain integrates with iPhoto and Aperture libraries, allows you to view the files in the Finder and enables you to preview them. At the same time, you can choose to perform the cleaning process within the application. You can keep track of what you delete because PhotoBrain is logging the activity.

PhotoBrain is able to work with popular image file formats such as PNG, TIFF, JPG, BMP, JPEG, RW2, ORF, NEF, DNG, ERF, TIF, or PDS. You can preview their content in CoverFlow mode or by using the QuickLook plug-in.
