New in iDentify 20091030 (Nov 2, 2009)

  • Fixed is the issue for tv shows where names containing an & were not detected correctly. This same bug also caused backslashes to appear before an ampersand in descriptions.
  • Also is the added option for iDentify to label files in finder based on its lookup status. Green for complete, orange for missing artwork, and red for lookup failed. Colors are not customizable at this time.

New in iDentify 20091010 (Oct 10, 2009)

  • Fixed problem that prevented detected title information from being written to the file.
  • Fixed a bug with preferences that could reset getMovieArtwork to 0.

  • Will now find all tv episodes that are available on the TVDB, even ones from new seasons. (previous had issues finding new episodes)
  • Forced period detection: replace periods with a ^ (iDentify tends to treat periods as delimiters to facilitated the plethora of file naming conventions. Alas, this can cause issues with show names that actually need a period for the lookup to succeed. You can now force a period to be treated as a period by substituting it with a carat ^)
  • Various bug fixes, mainly having to do with special characters in descriptions.
  • Updated growlnotify and fixed issues caused by new version

New in iDentify 20090905 (Sep 7, 2009)

  • Update to fix Snow Leopard compatibility
  • Removal of actors and directors from the Artist and Album Artist fields. Actors and Directors are still inserted into the appropriate cast and director tags. This fixes some tv show sorting issues in iTunes.
  • Addition of an overall queue progress bar, current file being worked on and overall progress displays in the main window view.
  • Bug fixes that cause some shows containing numbers, such as Deep Space 9 to not be found on the TVDB.

New in iDentify 20090130 (Jan 31, 2009)

  • Completely rewrote the IMPAwards code to be a whole lot more efficient and extendable. Now checks for posters at more IMP urls, and fixes issues with “,”s and “&”s in movie titles.
  • iDentify can now fetch chapter names for your video files from tagChimp.
  • iDentify no longer adds an episode ID to movies
  • Updated IMDB::Film to version 0.36
  • iDentify now displays the movie poster being applied to a file next to the text output for the related file.

New in iDentify 20090116 (Jan 17, 2009)

  • Updated the Video Filename module to version 0.35, which provides support for more filename formats.
  • iDentify can now optionally download artwork for tv series from the TVDB when an image file for the series is not provided by the user.
  • iDentify can now optionally download artwork for movies from impawards.com when an image file for the movie is not provided by the user.
  • Removed some more debug code.

New in iDentify 20090110 (Jan 12, 2009)

  • Preferences are now stored in /Library/Preferences/com.arrmihardies.iDentify.plist. Preferences will now persist between versions of iDentify. After this version, you will not be prompted to re-enter -all- of your preferences, Only any new preferences that may become available.
  • Some tv shows require a : (colon) in their filenames to be looked up properly. Unfortunately, we on the mac can not use :s in our filenames, as it is an illegal character. To work around this limitation, you can now use a ** in place of a : in your file names. Just think of ** (two asterisks) as a sideways : (colon).
  • You can now do a custom Episode Id by editing the epIdTemplate entry in the preferences file. Details on this can be found at the iDentify website. Default is SxxExx.
  • iDentify can now optionally rename the final file to match a template defined in the options file. The default template creates tv shows in the format: "SeriesName - SxxExx - EpisodeTitle.extension".

New in iDentify 20090101 (Jan 2, 2009)

  • Removed some more debug code.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the writers, directors, and producers to not get cleared between files, or each other for that matter.
  • Files are now processed in alphabetical order, instead of the random order provided by Finder. This makes it easier to know what files are being processed when.
  • Commands sent to growlnotify are now sent in utf-8 format.

New in iDentify 20081220.2 (Dec 22, 2008)

  • Removed a bit of code that was replacing all periods with spaces. This was originally added in 20081220 to support those file names names that used periods instead of spaces. Unfortunately this inadvertently causes failed lookups for shows that have to have the period in them, such as "Mr. Bean". Guess some of you will just have to learn to use your space bar.
  • .2 also fixes a problem with the failed lookup option sometimes causing a file not to get tagged even though a lookup was successful.
  • Also removed a few debug messages that were accidentally left in the previous version.

New in iDentify 20081220 (Dec 22, 2008)

  • Upgraded the Video::Filename and TVDB::API modules to version .33
  • You can now force a specific imdb result by including the imdb record number in the filename. Example: "Some Movie [tt1234567]"
  • fixes issue with AtomicParsley sometimes reporting a file could not be found.
  • You can now optionally choose not to tag a file when a lookup has failed.
  • You can now force a lookup by DVD order. Some series were aired out of order, or put into dvd collections out of order. Now, if you name your files with the DVD volume they came from instead of the Season, as such: "Firefly - D01E01 - Serenity.mp4?" by replacing the "S" for season with a "D" for DVD, a tvdb lookup will occur using the dvd order. Formerly, because items were out of order, an incorrect lookup could occur. Now you can lookup by dvd volume and episode, and get the correct information inserted. Note though, that your files will be tagged with the DVD Volume # in place of whatever season the episode may have actually been from. And the episode will be ordered how they were ordered on the dvd (assuming that you numbered them the same). This way, you can force the order to be as they appear on the dvd (often the preferred viewing order) and still retain all other correct information.

New in iDentify 20081218 (Dec 19, 2008)

  • Fixes issues with accented characters.
  • These accented characters would formerly show up as a ? in iTunes and prevent other programs like metaX from loading the file at all.
  • Information is now sent in UTF-8 format to AtomicParsley as opposed to plain text.

New in iDentify 20081217 (Dec 17, 2008)

  • You can now change your preferences by dropping a file on iDentify named "--changePrefs.mp4"
  • Actors now also appear under the artist tag (makes for easier searching in iTunes)
  • Directors now also appear under the Album Artist tag (again, for easier searching)
  • Added Series, Season # to the album tag for tv shows (cause that's how iTunes does it).
