Zooom Changelog

What's new in Zooom 2.6.5

Nov 24, 2014
  • Fixes a problem in the auto raise feature where minimised windows would get raised in certain situations.

New in Zooom 2.6.4 (Sep 22, 2014)

  • Fixes a problem in the sparkle updater and the license detection - so now stable as well as beta updates will report correctly.

New in Zooom 2.6.2 (Sep 2, 2014)

  • Provides a digitally signed & trusted Mac installer binary package. As long as your Mac OS X installation allows installation of apps from Mac App Store and identified developers (via the Security & Privacy settings), you will not be prompted to confirm the validity of the installation.

New in Zooom 2.6.0 (Aug 5, 2014)

  • Provides official support for the Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9) and beta support for Yosemite 10.10.
  • This release contains no new features. The release contains important changes to the way the Mac OS X Accessibility API is accessed and enabled.
  • Version 2.6.0 drops 32 bit support and will only run on Mac OS X 10.9+

New in Zooom 2.5.0 (Jul 19, 2011)

  • With this release - Zooom/2 now functions properly on Lion 10.7 (as well as 10.6 and 10.5). You can download v2.5.0 onto your current system and when you upgrade to Lion, everything will ‘just work’.

New in Zooom 2.4.5 (Feb 5, 2011)

  • Version 2.4.5 fixes an issue with the trial period code that caused the trial period to expire immediately. The trial period has now been replaced by a nagware style solution.

New in Zooom 2.4.4 (Sep 25, 2010)

  • Version 2.4.4 has a much smoother integration and experience with the following programs:
  • iTunes 9.1+ and iTunes 10
  • Microsoft Office Suite 2008

New in Zooom 2.4.2 (Apr 30, 2010)

  • Re-enables Zooom/2 for use with any iTunes version (except 9.1 - which is still excluded). As long as you are running the latest iTunes, then Zooom/2 should work properly with it.
  • The first fix for iTunes crashing problems appeared in version 9.1.1 of iTunes.

New in Zooom 2.4.1 (Apr 30, 2010)

  • Stops the iTunes crash which is specific to version 9.1 of iTunes. Later versions do no exhibit this problem. This version is initially only available as a beta version.

New in Zooom 2.4.0 (Mar 9, 2010)

  • A fix to stop Zooom/2 from crashing on startup. When Zooom/2 is started too early - the OS sometimes cannot tell it yet how many displays are attached, Zooom/2 now copes with this properly.
  • A fix to make storage of preferences data work properly on case sensitive file systems.
  • Sparkle of course!

New in Zooom 2.3.9 (Mar 2, 2010)

  • A crash situation was resolved for the Snow Leopard build
  • License data is now stored in a separate file in another directory - all in order to try and solve the “license lost” issues that many users have reported after a cold restart. You should not need to enter your license information again, nor should Zooom/2 ever lose your license information after a cold restart / kernel panic or other unscheduled shutdown.
  • License information is now stored in the /Users/Shared/Zooom2License directory

New in Zooom 2.3.5 (Jan 4, 2010)

  • Provides 64-bit support for the Intel architecture - and fixes a critical bug in the trial-period logic.

New in Zooom 2.3.4 (Dec 31, 2009)

  • Tunes the auto-raise logic slightly. The previous (2.3.3) update changed auto-raise so that it fired even when the mouse hadn’t been moved. This turns out to be a bad idea if the ‘Shift or Control’ key is used as the shortcut for auto-raise, as windows will raise under the mouse when typing into a text field.
  • Fixes this by only allowing auto-raise if the mouse has been moved.

New in Zooom 2.3.3 (Dec 14, 2009)

  • Provides an improved shortcut detection logic.
  • For those of you have click-to-activate enabled: you can now assign the same shortcut for the Move and the AutoRaise command.

New in Zooom 2.3.2 (Dec 9, 2009)

  • A crash situation on startup related to the new license scheme.

New in Zooom 2.3.1 (Dec 9, 2009)

  • A possible ‘hang’ situation was resolved (it could occur during startup).
  • The magnetics and license options now have menu shortcuts in both the status-bar and the dock menu bar.
  • After purchasing using KRM (embedded shopping cart), printing the receipt no longer loses focus.
  • Auto raise will now wait properly for the time interval to elapse before raising windows.
  • Performance increase - this version uses less CPU cycles, your laptop battery will be thankful!

New in Zooom 2.3.0 (Nov 16, 2009)

  • A permissions problem that occurs when Zooom/2 shows or hides its dock icon.
  • This permissions problem would cause the iLife suite (among other programs) to have problems resizing.

New in Zooom 2.2.9 (Nov 10, 2009)

  • Sometimes the magnetics grid to appeared squashed up to the side of the main window.
  • A problem with resizing the iLife suite applications - iPhoto and iTunes now resize properly.

New in Zooom 2.2.7 (Sep 4, 2009)

  • Fixes a bug that caused license codes to be lost - forcing you to have to re-enter them.
  • This version also fixes iPhoto, iTunes integration - and in doing so requires that you enable support for assitive devices in the System Preferences.

New in Zooom 2.2.5 (Dec 4, 2008)

  • Fixes a redraw bug when the dock was positioned anywhere else apart from the bottom of the screen.

New in Zooom 2.2.3 (Jun 23, 2008)

  • Version 2.2.3 is now compatible with Microsoft 2008 Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Entourage for Mac.

New in Zooom 2.2.2 (Jun 16, 2008)

  • The auto raise feature would sometimes stop working (randomly) if you had 'Require mouse click to activate' checked in the settings. This is now fixed and auto-raise is working again!

New in Zooom 2.2.1 (Jun 12, 2008)

  • Fix: a possible corruption of the preferences file
  • Fix: the Magnetics overlay window shows the grid overlay lines properly the first time its used.
  • Fix: the Magnetics grid sometimes didn't display itself

New in Zooom 2.2.0 (Jun 5, 2008)

  • This version fixes a problem in v2.0.7 - v2.0.8 that might have cause parts of the desktop to appear as if they was flickering during resize / movement animations.
  • Magnetics: The biggest change is the 'snap to visible window edge', or 'window snapping' as its sometimes called. The feature, which is part of Zooom's Magnetics functionality allows you to align any window cleanly and quickly with any other visible window just by using the existing Move and/or Resize functionality. With Magnetics its possible to set up the visible-edge snapping to kick in only during move or resize (the default is both modes) - and you can also adjust the 'strength' of the magnetics using a simple slider control.
  • Ignore List: The ignore list has been enhanced in relation to the window edge snapping of Magnetics. Its now possible to exclude particular programs from the window snapping functionality; just add them into the ignore list and re-enable everything except the 'Magnetics' feature.
  • Information Overlay: In 2.2.0 - the information shown during a move / resize operation has been enhanced. You now see the name of the application being moved, its total window size and the command currently in action.
  • User Interface: Slight changes to the wording in order to make the intent of certain functions clearer.
  • Crash Reporter: A crash-reporter project has been integrated in order that crash issues can be reported back to the [email protected] email address.

New in Zooom 2.0.8 (May 5, 2008)

  • Magentics: Magnetics will now highlight the snapped edge slightly, which gives you nice visual feedback to indicate why your window got snapped into position. The highlighting can be switched on/off independently from the grid overlay.
  • The magnetics function now snaps edges much more reliably. The 2.0.x series used to have issues snapping during resize if the top left corner of a window was already snapped to a grid line. Magnetics never used to snap correctly when the beta 'four corner resize mode' was engaged. This release fixes that - now snapping works regardless of the mode.
  • Memory: A couple more memory fixes have been plugged as well, resulting in a much more stable memory footprint over time.

New in Zooom 2.0.7 (Apr 23, 2008)

  • FIxes up a bug in the zoom (double-click while resize or move is active) functionality that could cause an application to become unresponsive to further keyboard events. This bug only affected applications that we're sized using the zoom double-click functionality.

New in Zooom 2.0.6 (Apr 7, 2008)

  • Based on user feedback, the settings window is now much more reliable in showing or not showing itself when the application starts up. Zooom/2 should return to its last known state on startup correctly now - whereas with versions < 2.0.5 Zooom/2 would sometimes always show itself on startup.
  • The background colouring of the info window has been modified to make the info text more readable and its also simpler as there are no mouse co-ordinates displayed anymore.
  • Zooom/2 will no longer stop during its exit/termination and ask if the user wishes to hide or quit, which blocked some users from experiencing a clean system shutdown in some cases. Zooom/2 will now simply quit at all times. The standard Apple-Q shortcut binding has been unconditionally re-routed to invoke the 'Hide' functionality.
  • Some polish and gloss: the main window now fades away when you hide it.
