New in VideoDrive 3.0 (Dec 6, 2014)

  • A brand new version of VideoDrive is now available for OS X Yosemite.
  • New design - The new version sports a brand new look, in line with Yosemite. A lot of
  • features that were tucked away in the Preferences panel are now available on the main screen, making it much easier to access them. We have also made a clear distinction between two of the main features of VideoDrive: adding new video files to iTunes from Finder, and tagging and duplicating videos you already have in your iTunes library. You can now easily switch between both views in the main window.
  • New Import Queue - The new activity window now shows which videos you have lined up in the import queue. If something goes wrong with one of your videos, you can find more info right there and in the new log. And if you want to import your videos automatically over night, you can now enable this new feature in Preferences to specify when VideoDrive can process your new videos.
  • Upgrading from version 2 - You will feel right at home in version 3. The biggest change for you will be that the list of import methods is nowhere to be found. Apple made it a lot harder (well impossibly actually) to add video files in iTunes that were not optimised for iTunes playback. As most videos are now in a compatible format, and Macs have become much faster, converting videos is faster than ever. So we’re pretty sure you will not miss that option. The status lights on the main window have gone as well, as all videos you import now will be playable on all your devices. We do still offer options to optimise videos for the screens of your iOS devices. And VideoDrive 2 for OS X 10.5 until 10.8 is also still available for download.

New in VideoDrive 2.3 RC1 (Jan 4, 2011)

  • This update is all about video conversions. Some users complained about failed conversions so we have listened and made lots of improvements.
  • Basically, a lot of issues are related to QuickTime X. We do no longer recommend using QuickTime X for video conversions.
  • If VideoDrive finds QuickTime 7 on your system, it will use that as it is far more reliable. But for those who still prefer QuickTime X, we have improved reliability for several file formats. Another issue was speed: QuickTime is not that fast.
  • In fact, QuickTime X can be horribly slow with some conversions taking up to 10 hours. Therefore support was added for HandBrake, which converts video much much faster! Simply download HandBrakeCLI (both 32bit and 64bit versions are supported) into your Applications or Utilities folder and switch the flip in the Import Preferences panel of VideoDrive.
