  • Improved support for Apple M1 processors (not full native support. Several of the internal components are now universal binaries that will run natively on Apple M1 processors, including those involved in file interception)
  • Several improvements were made to scanning and web protection

New in Sophos Home 10.0.4a1 (May 6, 2021)

  • Fixes / Improvements:
  • Fixed Time Machine issues that prevented backing up files to network locations
  • Improved system extensions approval system, to reduce red/orange/yellow shield appearing on Big Sur -macOS 11 installations.
  • Removed forced scan right after installation
  • Fixed several issues related to Microphone and Camera false detections (PrivGuard showing camera is active, for example)
  • Addressed an LPE vulnerability via XPC service, to prevent potential local privileges exploit.
  • Internal changes to CryptoGuard protection (Ransomware protection)
  • Updated virus data engine to address an issue in which scans were getting aborted due to updates running at the same time.

  • Fixes / Improvements:
  • Fixed an issue with Web Protection not being enabled for macOS 11 users.
  • Note: Users will be required to Allow the new web component when prompted.
  • Fixed an issue with the Sophos Home Dashboard showing "device is vulnerable" for macOS 11 users.
  • Fixed an issue where duplicate system notifications may be triggered for trial expiry/offers.
  • Known issues:
  • Network-based Time Machine backups (such as on a Time Capsule or NAS return "backup is in use" in macOS 11 (Big Sur). The workaround is to use an internal or USB/thunderbolt external drive as the backup or to perform the backup in Safe Mode.
  • We have found the root cause of the problem and expect to release a fix by March of 2021, with the Mac 10.0.3 release.
