  • methodJIT for PPC. What is it ? It's a PPC backend to Javascript which executes native PPC code thereby speeding up the execution of Javascript. Where did it come from ? Well it's been around for some time now courtesy of the folks at TenFourFox ( kudos to Cameron Kaiser and Tobius as well ? not sure of the full history but let me know if I left anyone out ). I finally got around to incorporating the patches from AuroraFox and well it seems to work. No I have no real metrics to give you but it does seem to feel as though SeaMonkey is a bit lighter on its feet.

New in SeaMonkey for PPC 2.14.1 (Nov 26, 2012)

  • I noticed occasional flurries of "invalid context" errors in the console logs during some CG operations. Haven't seen any crashes though just messages and missing items on rendered pages. This update will eliminate the problems but it needs a deeper look as time permits.
