New in Screen Mimic 2.5 (Dec 2, 2009)

  • SWF/FLV export is now significantly faster (often around 3x or more, depending on your machine), and produces somewhat smaller output files.
  • QT export is now somewhat faster (typically around 1.25x).
  • QT export now supports Pixlet and Apple Intermediate codecs, when installed.
  • Frame rate control is now “target frame rate.” If your system is slow or heavily loaded, it may not be able to keep up, and Screen Mimic will now start to gracefully drop frames if it’s falling too far behind, rather than buffering indefinitely.
  • Improved window-to-record selection process.
  • The usual variety of general tweaks, improvements, and fixes.

New in Screen Mimic 2.4.3 (Aug 25, 2009)

  • Now compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard”.

  • The usual variety of general tweaks, improvements and fixes.

New in Screen Mimic 2.4.2 (Mar 27, 2009)

  • Fixed a rare crasher on export completion.
  • Fixed handling of certain unusual alternate audio file formats.
  • The usual variety of general tweaks, improvements, and fixes.

New in Screen Mimic 2.4.1 (Oct 13, 2008)

  • Fixed an issue (on 10.4 "Tiger" only) causing only the last frame to be preserved from the recording.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause blank recordings on systems with multiple screens.
  • Fixed a graphical anomaly that could appear when doing multiple recordings in a row.
  • Improved error-checking to more cleanly handle malformed audio files and systems with no audio input.
  • Simplified and cleaned up the licensing window.
  • The usual variety of general tweaks, improvements, and fixes.

New in Screen Mimic 2.4 (Jul 23, 2008)

  • Significant performance and memory use improvements during recording, especially on multicore/multiprocessor machines
  • Audio/video/mouse will now all remain in synch regardless of how busy your computer may be during the recording. Note: the format of .smb archive files had to change to make this fix, so .smb files are not compatible between 2.3 and 2.4. You may wish to finish work-in-progress on 2.3-based screencasts before upgrading. You may also download a copy of 2.3 here to continue to use in parallel if necessary.
  • Fixed bug preventing many audio files from being used as a soundtrack in SWF/FLV export
  • Temporary recording files now stored in Caches by default, and should no longer be left hanging around after quitting
  • "Hide recording area guide" and "Recording area follows mouse" settings now respected when making multiple recordings back-to-back
  • A round of general UI polish across the app
  • The usual variety of general tweaks, improvements, and fixes

  • Initial release by Decimus
