  • In this release, I have again focused on improving reliability and compatibility, plus a few minor improvements.
  • Added: Improved link detection. PopClip now detects links in text without an http:// or https:// prefix for all the newer top-level domains, e.g. .shop, .news, .coffee.
  • Added: In Arc browser, extensions now get the page URL and title.
  • Added: Basic support for Waterfox browser.
  • Changed: The menu bar icon is a little bit smaller.
  • Changed: The minimum system requirement is now macOS 10.15 Catalina.
  • Fixed: Appears more consistently when selecting text in particular apps, including Obsidian, VS Code, Notion, Ulysses and others.

New in PopClip 2023.7 (Jul 19, 2023)

  • Changed: PopClip has a new application icon and a reshaped menu bar icon to match it.
  • Added: Improved support for the following browsers: Arc, Orion, Tor Browser, Mullvad, DEVONagent Pro.
  • Fixed: PopClip can now detect that the selection is read-only in Google Chrome.
  • Fixed: Added a work-around for a Chromium bug that could cause PopClip to not see the newlines in the text selection. This should improve some things in Google Chrome, Chromium-based browsers, and Electron apps such as Obsidian.
  • Fixed: Certain Iconify icons which appeared glitched now display correctly.
  • Fixed: PDF Expert compatibility (once again).
  • Localization: Added full Turkish and Slovak translations, thanks to volunteer translators.

  • Fixed bug where using the Select All extension could result in an endless spinner.

  • Fix: Avoid duplicate actions sometimes appearing in the PopClip bar.
  • Fix: Avoid unintentional "auto copy" where PopClip could fail to restore the original clipboard contents after selecting text.

  • Fix: A freezing bug that could happen when activating the Search action, or using extensions in a browser.

  • Certificate Expiration bug - Some users have not been able to start PopClip since February 14. This is related to the expiration of a certificate used by the Mac App Store purchase verification system. After applying this update, PopClip should start for everyone.
  • Now Requires OS X 10.9 - As of v1.5.5, PopClip's minimum system requirement is OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The last version to support OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8 was v1.5.4, which existing customers will still be able to reinstall via the Mac App Store.

  • Ready for OS X Yosemite. PopClip is ready for the next version of OS X. Thanks to the beta testers who have been sending feedback.
  • PopClip works faster and more reliably, especially when selecting large amounts of text. Now it should easily cope with 10,000 characters or more, where it often used to fail.

  • Fully compatible with OS X Lion:
  • Fixes a glitch that was occurring on Lion only, where PopClip did not always appear when double-clicking to select a word.
  • User interface fine-tuning:
  • PopClip is now more lenient in detecting if you have moved your mouse away from the popover, so it won't disappear when you only briefly move the mouse away.
  • It also now supports graphics tablets better, by allowing for a little movement of the stylus while holding it down to activate the Paste option.
  • Fixed bug in Firefox:
  • PopClip was interfering with context menus in Mozilla Firefox. This is now fixed.
