    PerfectTablePlan 4.2.7 - Changelog

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.2.7:

    March 19th, 2012

    Bug fixes:
    · Fixed a bug in the automatic seat assignment that meant some improved solutions might be missed. Thank you to Peter D for reporting this.
    · The Table Spacing window reappeared each time the Floor plan pane was displayed, even after table spacing was turned off. This is now fixed. Thank you to Malcolm D for reporting this.
    · Fixed a crash bug that sometimes occurred using the Floor plan pane, particularly when snapping objects to a grid in the Floor plan pane.
    · Fixed a crash bug that sometimes occurred when deleting guests from the Guests pane when the Stationery pane was also visible. Thank you to Stuart H for reporting this.
    · The Progress bar now shows when reading in large plans.
    · The -import_type command line argument was only recognised if it was lower case. This has now been fixed so that case is unimportant.
    · Advanced edition only
    · Fixed a bug that could cause spurious error messages when importing custom fields. Thank you to Geraint B for reporting this. [
    · Advanced & Professional editions
    · Fixed a bug that could cause defaults for custom fields with type=‘text’ to sometimes be set incorrectly when opening a document. Thank you to Angela M for reporting this.
    · Professional edition only
    · 9. Fixed a bug that caused custom proximity to sometimes be scored incorrectly for custom fields of type Yes/No.

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.2.6:

    February 20th, 2011

    · Introduced a bug in v4.2.5 that meant the when PerfectTablePlan laid out tables these positions weren’t ‘remembered’ (you needed to move them manually for the position to be remembered). Consequently if you saved the plan and then re-opened it all the tables were stacked one on top of each other. This is now fixed. Thank you to Debe, May, Norman, Tyrone and Neville for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.2.6]
    · Other applications are not always able to handle Unicode characters in .csv files. For example Excel 2007 for Windows seems to have problems with Unicode .csv files, putting all the text into a single column. So we now give an option to convert any Unicode characters to ASCII when exporting to .csv. Thank you to Yoon for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.2.6]
    · In Name only (banquet) mode names with large fonts could sometimes overlap the table (see below). This is now fixed. Thank you to Phil for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.2.6]

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.2.5:

    January 31st, 2011

    · The number of proximity lines shown in the Floor plan pane can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, especially for large events. You can now hold down the Shift key to only draw proximity lines for guests whose seat or table is selected. Thank you to Lori for suggesting this. [Added in v4.2.5]
    · The Find Plan Files window has been added. You can use this to quickly search for plan (.tp) or backup files (.tpb) that you can’t find using File>Open or File>Open recent. It may take a few minutes to search your whole harddisk. [Added in v4.2.5]
    · A Last modified column has been added to the Most recently accessed window. You can now also sort the columns by clicking on the column headers. The OK button has been renamed Open. [Added in v4.2.5]
    · PerfectTablePlan now shows a helpful error message if you try to File>Import a plan (.tp) file instead of using File>Open. [Added in v4.2.5]
    · Name badge templates (A4 and letter sized) have been added to the stationery samples. Thank you to Sue A for suggesting this. [Added in v4.2.5]
    · An import mapping has been added for exports from weddingtoolbox.com. [Added in v4.2.5]
    · We have added some documentation on how to scale a background image correctly in PerfectTablePlan v4.2.5>How do I?>Floor plan>Use an image of the venue. [Added in v4.2.5]

    Bug fixes:
    · When tables are added they are automatically laid out in the Floor plan pane to try and avoid overlaps. This layout could appear rather erratic if the Seats drop-down list was set to Rectangular+name or Chair+name, or if the tables were rotated. This has now been fixed. [Fixed in v4.2.5]
    · When importing a spreadsheet or CSV file the names of couples were sometimes imported incorrectly. For example “Mr & Mrs J Smith” might be imported at “Mr J S mith” and “Mrs mith” instead of “Mr J Smith” and “Mrs Smith”. This is now fixed. Thanks to Guy for reporting it. [Fixed in v4.2.5]
    · When exporting guest data the seat numbers of tables with anti-clockwise or custom seat numbers were not exported correctly. This is now fixed. Thanks to David S-E for reporting it. [Fixed in v4.2.5]

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.2.3:

    October 4th, 2010

    · A warning now appears on start-up if you are using a temporary key that has 3 or less days remaining.
    · A ‘getting the most out of PerfectTablePlan’ web page now appears the first time you exit a newly installed version of PerfectTablePlan.
    · Various minor usability improvements.

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.2.2:

    August 6th, 2010

    · Adds new enhancements and bug fixes to version 4.1.2

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.1.2:

    December 14th, 2009

    · Locking and unlocking multiple guests in the Table plan pane could cause a crash. This is now fixed. Thanks for Tammy M for reporting this.

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.1.0:

    September 8th, 2009

    · PerfectTablePlan has been renamed PerfectTablePlan Home Edition. Any licence key that worked for PerfectTablePlan v4.0.x will work for PerfectTablePlan Home Edition.
    · As previously announced in our December 2008 and April 2009 newsletters, there are also two new products: PerfectTablePlan Advanced Edition and PerfectTablePlan Professional Edition. The new editions have additional features (see below for more details) You can switch between the different editions in the Preferences window.

    However please note:
    · if you switch to a lower edition you will loose data items that are only available in the higher edition
    · if you switch to a higher edition than you have a licence for you will be in trial mode (you can’t print, save or export plans with >30 guests) until you switch back

    What's new in PerfectTablePlan 4.0.3:

    January 27th, 2009

    Backward/forward compatibility:
    · This version can read plan (.tp) files saved by any earlier version of PerfectTablePlan. But reading 4.0.3 plans into versions of the software before 4.0.0 may lose some data.

    Enhancements:
    · Oval tables have been added. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Semi-circular tables have been added. These can have seats along the straight side or the curved side or both. You can combine semi-circular tables with other tables to create complex shapes. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Rows of seats have been added. Move a row of seats by dragging either end of the row. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · You can now display more realistic looking seats by setting the Seats drop-down list in the Floor plan or Table plan pane to chair. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Tableware (plate+knife+fork) can now optionally be drawn in the Floor plan and Table plan panes. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Additional options rectangular+name and chair+name have been added to the Seats drop-down list in the Floor plan and Table plan. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Seats drop-down list in the Floor plan and Table plan panes now has an additional option name only (banquet). This rotates some guest names at the top and bottom of rectangular tables to 45 degrees. This makes it easier to read the names and is particularly useful when there is a head table with sprigs. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Table Plan pane can now print all the tables in a single operation. All the pages are scaled uniformly (i.e. the seats are the same size on every page) for consistency. If you only want to print the current table, click on the Setup button in the Print window and change the pages to be printed. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Table Plan pane is now exported to a PDF file with one page per table. As above, all the pages are scaled uniformly. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Stationery pane can now be exported to PDF format. Select File>Export data and choose stationery to PDF file. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · PDFs can now be exported as custom sizes. Select from the drop-down list in the Export PDF window and set the appropriate dimensions and units. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Search has been added to the Schematic pane. Tables with names that do not contain the search term are hidden. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Search in the Proximity pane now hides non-matching rows and columns, similar to the way search works in the Guests pane. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Search in the Stationery layout window now hides non-matching items, similar to the way search works in the Guests pane. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Search terms in the Guests and Groups pane are now reapplied to any new or renamed guests or groups. E.g. If you type “Fred” in the Guests search field only guests whose names contain Fred will be displayed (as previously). If you now rename a guest from “Fred” to “John” they will be hidden (new behaviour). [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Show drop-down list in the Guest chart pane, the Show drop-down list in the Stationery pane and the Filter drop-down list in the Export data window now has additional options for filtering guests based on RSVP status. This means that you can now distinguish between non-accepted guests that have declined and those that haven’t replied. You can also choose Select... to define your own selection. For example, you can choose a single guest to print a place card for. [Added in v4.0.0]
The following additional substitution texts have been added to the Stationery pane:
    · {table_groups_multi_line} : a list of groups at a table on multiple lines
    · {table_groups} : a list of groups at a table on one line
    · The speed of the automatic seat assignment has been improved by approximately 10%. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Check the hide new/open/recent/save tool bar icons check box in the Preferences window to hide these common tool bar buttons. This box is unchecked by default on Windows and checked by default on MacOSX. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · When you add a new table it now defaults to the properties of the last added table of the same shape. E.g. if the last circular table you added had 10 seats, the next table added will default to 10 seats. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · When you add a new item of text to the Stationery pane it now defaults to the same size, colour and fonts previously added text. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The default names for export files are now more explanatory. E.g. the default name for a PDF guest chart export from plan “my plan” is “my plan guest chart.pdf”. [Added in v4.0.0]
The following keyboard accelerators have been added:
    · MacOSX
    · Cmd+B: Numbers and budget
    · Cmd+E: Export
    · Cmd+I: Import
    · Cmd+Shift+I: Information (previously Cmd+I)
    · Cmdl+/: RSVP accepted
    · Cmd+*: RSVP declined
    · A page summarising all the keyboard accelerators has also been added to the help in the User interface section. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Moving the mouse wheel up and down now defaults to scrolling rather than zooming. This is for consistency between panes. You can change the default in the Preferences window. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · When importing VIP status the VIP status is set to on if the import field starts with ‘V’, ‘v’, ‘Y’ or ‘y’. Previously only ‘Y’ or ‘y’ were accepted. This means that you can use ‘vip’ to denote VIP status. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Order online tool bar button has been renamed to the more explanatory Posters & cards and the icon changed. It now displays a web page that allows you to order place cards as well as poster prints. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · Additional topics have been added to the How do I? button. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Print task in the Basic user interface has been renamed to Output for clarity. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The positions of tables, shapes and floor plan text are now recorded in the .tp file in metres, not pixels. This should make it easier for other software to integrate with PerfectTablePlan. Pixel units are still supported for backward compatibility. See ‘Integrating with PerfectTablePlan’ in the help for more details. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The maximum size of a shape has been increased from 100 to 999 (feet or metres). [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The Splash screen, application icon and auto-assign seats icon have been updated. [Added in v4.0.0]
    · The caption of the direction arrow in the Table plan pane now uses the same font as the legend text (up to a certain size). [Added in v4.0.1]
    · Tables and chairs can now be drawn with colour gradients. [Added in v4.0.2]
    · An import mapping has been added for the pingg.com online RSVP service. [Added in v4.0.2]

    Bug fixes:
    · Setting the paper size drop-down list in the Stationery layout window to other now gives the correct result. [Fixed in v4.0.0]
    · Adults are now always ordered before children when they are displayed with By set to Group in the Table chart or Guest chart pane. [Fixed in v4.0.0]
    · PNG, JPG and BMP images are now exported correctly when export image as large as possible is checked in the Preferences window. [Fixed in v4.0.0]
    · When the Floor plan pane was resized smaller, tables were moved inside the new room size. But shapes and text weren’t moved. All are now moved. Thanks to Kathleen M. for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · The Upgrade to v4 button is now correctly enabled if you have a v1, v2 or v3 licence key. [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · If the tableware box is checked in the Floor plan and Table plan panes, the blade of the knife is shown pointing towards the plate. We are told that this is established etiquette. Thanks to Dave O. for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · Reinstated the group checkbox in the Table chart and Guest chart panes, as in v3.1.4. [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · Fixed a bug where the assignable guests only check box in the Proximity pane was not always honoured. [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · Reinstated the icon for the active pane appearing in the Status bar, as in v3.1.4. [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · The size of the Stationery layout, Import data and Export data windows are now more manageable on low resolutions screens (e.g. 800x600). [Fixed in v4.0.1]
    · A bug that could cause the Table Plan pane to be printed with incorrect scaling has been fixed. Thanks to Felix B for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.0.2]
    · A bug that could cause the Guest chart or Table chart pane to be printed across multiple pages with incorrect scaling has been fixed. Thanks to Paddy L for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.0.2]
    · Trying to drag multiple locked guests in the Schematic pane could cause multiple warning windows. This has now been fixed. Thanks to Mike W for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.0.2]
    · Rotated text in the Stationery pane is now easier to select and is drawn correctly when dragged. [Fixed in v4.0.2]

    · The Select groups or Select guests window is no longer shown when a plan is opened which was saved with the Show drop-down list set to Selected... . [Fixed in v4.0.3]
    · When a title was selected in the Guest properties window it didn’t set the default age, gender and VIP status for the guest if the title was in lower case. This is now fixed. [Fixed in v4.0.3]
    · When moving an item between the two lists in the Select guests or Select groups window the list originally containing the item would scroll to the top each time. Thanks to René for reporting this. This is now fixed. [Fixed in v4.0.3]
    · “John,Smith” and “Mr,John,Smith” are now treated as potential duplicate names during import. [Fixed in v4.0.3]
    · Trying to add the same name more than once through the Insert guests scratch-pad window now triggers a warning. [Fixed in v4.0.3]
    · Changing the colour of text in the Guest chart or Table chart pane now also changes the colour of any header and footer that are the same colour as the body text. If the header and footer are a different colour to the body text, they will be unaffected by changes to the colour of the body text. [Fixed in v4.0.3]
    · If the Schematic pane is visible Show guest seat should only be enabled in the right-click menu of the Guests of Groups pane if the selected guest has been assigned a seat. [Fixed in v4.0.3]

    Removed features:
    · The Guest/group search option in the Preferences window has been removed. Search in the Guests and Groups pane now only works by hiding non-matching items. We feel this is more useful and more consistent with search in other panes. [Removed in v4.0.0]
