  • A new document setup panel was added to NoteAbilityPro and connected to the File / New menu item. The previous document panel is still available through the File / New Custom Score menu item. The new document panel allows you to create a score by indicating the instruments you want in the ensemble. Staff labels, playback sounds and transpositions are automatically created for the chosen instruments. Alterations to the score layout can still be made after the score has been created.
  • A Chinese Cypher panel was added to the Tools menu. This menu causes a panel designed for chances Jianpu music notation to be shown. You can use this panel to create Jianpu notation or to convert selected passages of music between Jianpu and Western notation. Details on the operation of this panel can be found in the Help files.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.601 (Jun 9, 2014)

  • A Check for Score Errors menu item was added to the Help menu.
  • This menu displays a panel that allows you to check your score for misplaced notes, missing rests and overlapping notes.
  • To perform this operation, click on the Check for Errors button.
  • The front-most core will be parsed and any errors found will be reported in the text box on the panel.
  • You can save the error log by clicking on the Save Error Log button.
  • In some cases, errors in the score are intended, but this panel will help to track down score syntax errors in scores and extracted parts.
  • This is the final version of NAPro to be compiled for OS-X 10.4.11.
  • All future version will require at least OS-X 10.6.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.562 (Dec 10, 2013)

  • A third option - OSC (typed) - was added to the network output radio buttons on the Network Ports panel.
  • This option sends properly formatted OSC messages from Max message boxes or Break-point functions suitable for communicating with any software that can receive OSC messages.
  • The second option - udpreceive - sends the entire message as a single OSC string and while useful for certain applications such as MaxMSP, it cannot be used with other applications.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.560 (Dec 2, 2013)

  • Some problems with the display and printing of text in fermati and symbols were fixed.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.555 (Oct 14, 2013)

  • A playback bug that caused notes to hang when multiple DLS devices were used was fixed.
  • A formatting bug that caused strange spacing when multiple verses of lyrics was used was fixed.
  • Complex cross staff beaming was fixed so that stems always go through the entire beam and beams always appear on the correct side of the main beam.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.553 (Oct 1, 2013)

  • Dynamics in the score can be interpreted as midi volume changes during playback. This means that crescendo and diminuendo markings (hairpins) are played during sustained notes and playback volume is adjusted whenever there is a new dynamic mark associated with the staff. This feature can be disabled by unchecking the Interpret Dynamics as MIDI Volume check box on the MIDI velocities drawer in the Sound/Midi section of the Preference panel
  • Arrows can now be added to the beginning and ends of Freehand graphics using the Free Graphic Start Arrow and Free Graphic End Arrow menu items in the small popup menu in the Graphics pane of the Music Images Panel. Arrow size is determined by the image point size.
  • A new menu item Pedal Playback Controls… was added the Audio/ MIDI menu. This menu item displays a panel which allows the user to customize the playback characteristics of pedal markings. You can select the Pedal change markers in the middle of a Pedal change graphic and alter the pedal off value. This is useful for half-pedaling which some synthesizers support. Normally the pedal off value will be 0, but if you want to simulate a half-pedal you can change the value to 64 or any other value that creates the effect you want.
  • A Score Performance Mode check box was added to the Sound / MIDI pane of the Preference Panel. This check box enables score playback with all buttons hidden and page turns that facilitate reading the score from the computer screen.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.550 (Aug 28, 2013)

  • Problems with text not printing or printing on multiple pages was fixed for all versions of OS-X

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.546 (Jul 22, 2013)

  • Banks are now correctly set for DLS collections that have multiple banks or percussion banks. As well, you can enter banks changes in the score using the command b followed by the numbers (e.g. b30720) Use the bank numbers that are listed in the DLS instrument list.
  • Trills and ornaments such as mordents and turns are now performed during playback. This only works for trills that are added using the symbol pane. As well, the wavy line is automatically drawn on trills added this way. The wavy line is drawn the total length of the notes duration.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.545 (Jul 12, 2013)

  • The maximum number of staves allowed in NAPro was expanded to 80. The track setup panel, document setup panel and staff spacing panels were all modified to support additional staves.
  • Some minor staff spacing bugs were fixed

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.540 (May 24, 2013)

  • The method used for adding Pedal Markings was changed.
  • To support the new method, a Pedal Lines pane was added to the Music Images panel (beside the Lines pane.)
  • The Select-Score tool is used to designate the beginning and ending positions of the pedal line.
  • Once entered (either by clicking on the Create Pedal Line button in the Pedal Pane or by selecting the Build Pedal Line item in the Modify/Cresc/Decres/Graphics menu), you can add pedal change markers by double-clicking on the pedal line.
  • You can also switch to different pedal line types and remove pedal change markers you no longer want.
  • The vertical position of the pedal lines are controlled by the Lyric button located below the staff at the left side of the system.
  • Pedal lines can cross multiple systems and the vertical position of the line on each staff can be altered independently.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.536 (Apr 1, 2013)

  • Two new graphics tools were added to the Image Palette to enable you to add freehand line graphics or freehand curve graphics:
  • The Freehand graphics tools can be used to draw a connected series of lines or curves. To draw a freehand graphic, begin by clicking the mouse and dragging. Each time you want a change in the line direction, click the mouse again and when you are finished creating your graphic image, double-click the mouse button to complete the image. Each time the mouse button is clicked, a control point will be added to your image. There can be up to 32 control points added in a freehand graphic image.
  • Freehand graphics drawn with the Freehand Line and Freehand Curve tools
  • The control points of the Freehand graphics objects are shown below -- each of these control points can be altered.
  • Two menu items were added to the Graphics Pane pull-down menu so that you can close a selected freehand graphic image (i.e.
  • join the beginning and ending points) and set them to be filled with the current fill color. The example below shows a freehand graphic image that is entered, then closed, then filled with a semi-transparent color.
  • A number of new line types were added to the Line Pane in the Music Image panel.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.535 (Mar 18, 2013)

  • Slurs are now allow independent control over the middle control points so that the bezier curve can be adjusted more flexibly. These control points are visible when the select tool (arrow) is chosen. They can only be adjusted by clicking and dragging - they are not selected when they are included in a selection rectangle. Slurs created using earlier versions of NAPro will automatically be converted to the new slurs with the original shape of the slur being retained.
  • Selected Control Points are now shown with colored circles when they are selected and adjusted. As well, the selectable area of the control point was enlarged to make clicking and dragging control points easier.
  • Zoom in and Zoom out short-cuts were added so you can more quickly change the score display size. On most keyboards the sequence: Command and - will reduce decrease the magnification (make the images smaller) and Command and = will increase the magnification (make the images larger.) There are more view size settings so each sizing increment is smaller. These commands also appear in the Format menu.
  • A new Velocity Editor was added to the Tools menu. The Velocity Editor allows you to load selected notes into a panel where their velocities (i.e. volumes) are displayed along a measure timeline. Using the tools on the right side of the panel, you can alter the velocities of these notes, audition them and save the changes. Once a selected collection of notes has been loaded into the Velocity Editor (by clicking on the Load Notes button, the velocities of selected notes are displayed. The barlines and measures numbers are also provided for reference.
  • The tempo controls in the Music Images panel was altered to all different duration values to be displayed. You can click on the lower note icon to change to a different rhythmic value. In the example below the tempo is displayed both as a quarter note tempo and as a dotted quarter note tempo:
  • OS-X 10.7 and 10.8 redraw problems with text and lyrics have been fixed. There was a recursive redrawing that was occurring with overlapping text boxes in some operating systems.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.529 (Feb 25, 2013)

  • Added support for the Vienna font
  • White-outs are now created when ties cross time signatures

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.524 (Nov 1, 2012)

  • Some redraw problems in OS-X 10.7 & 10.8 were fixed.
  • File icons were altered to show a miniature view of the first page of the score.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.520 (Oct 8, 2012)

  • This is the final version of NoteAbilityPro that will be compiled to run on OS-X 10.4 and 10.5. All future version of NAPro will require operating systems 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and higher.
  • A graphical S-curve slur was added to the image palette. These slurs are useful it situations where you want the slur to shift from being above a group of notes to being below a group of notes within the slur. Only the graphical version of this slur exists - they are not connected to the notes they encompass.
  • To create a graphical S-curve slur, select the tool from the Image Palette:
  • The input method for this slur requires 5 control points to be entered and they should be entered from left to right on the page. These points represent the starting point, the top or bottom point of the first part of the slur, the mid point of the slur (at which the slur shift to the other vertical direction), the mid point of the second part of the slur and the end of the slur. While the slur is being entered, straight lines show the sequence of lines:
  • Once all 5 points have been entered, the slur will appear:
  • Any of the 5 control points can be altered by selecting them and dragging them to change the shape of the slur. These slurs are purely graphical so they will not divide across systems the way slurs that are added using the Add Slur button are.
  • A button was added to the Delete Pages pane to enable all extra pages to be deleted as one action. Indicate the last page in the score and click on the Delete all Pages after Page button.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.518 (Sep 25, 2012)

  • Graphic images were updated for Retina displays and some redraw problems in OS-X 10.8 were fixed.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.509 (Mar 2, 2012)

  • Some minor bug fixes to beam redrawing were made
  • Some buttons were added to the Entry Cursor to facilitate adding accidentals, inserting rests or undoing during note entry. The buttons appear on the right side of the Entry Cursor. The sharp button raises the note by a semitone (i.e. if it is natural it becomes sharp, if it is flat, it becomes natural) and the flat button lowers the note by a semitone (if it is flat it becomes double-flat, if it is sharp it becomes natural). The insert rest button inserts a rest with the same duration value as the note specified in the current command, and the undo button reverses the last change to the score.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.507 (Feb 6, 2012)

  • Some minor bug fixes to NoteWriter import and tablature font encoding were made.
  • Some problems with redraw on OS-X 10.7 (Lion) were addressed.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.506 (Jan 26, 2012)

  • Some problems with redraw on OS-X 10.7 (Lion) were addressed.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.505 (Jan 25, 2012)

  • Some minor bug fixes to NoteWriter import and tablature font encoding were made.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.502 (Dec 16, 2011)

  • The printing routines were redesigned to work properly in OS-X 10.7 and were tested in earlier versions.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.490 (Sep 17, 2011)

  • This version includes a fairly major structural update to NAPro. Specifically, a number of panels in the program have been shifted from being global panels used by all open documents to being panels associated to specific scores. In other words, each score now manages its own track setup, tempo map, playback map and network settings. Rather than using the menu items in the Tools and Audio/Midi menus, you can click on one of the buttons located among the controls above the score.
  • If you click on one of these four buttons a panel containing all the relevant settings for the score appears at the right side of the score document. To close the sliding panel, you can click the button again or you can click the arrow button located at the top of the sliding panel.
  • In the case of the track setup panel, clicking on the DSL button for a specify staff brings up a second panel with the available instruments you can choose.
  • The menu buttons associated with the old Track setup panel, Tempo Map, Playback map and Network settings will be directed towards the current score - and the appropriate sliding panel will open.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.485 (Sep 6, 2011)

  • Support for adjusting the positions of tremolo beams was added. The tremolo beam controls were moved into a jane of their own and arrows were added which allow the end positions of the tremolo beams to be adjusted. The tie adjustment controls (that used to be in this pane location) were moved to the third tab in the Accidental / Articulation pane.
  • Quicktime synthesizer playback support was removed from NAPro since this technology is no longer supported in OS-X 10.7. The DLS synthesizer should be used instead of the quicktime synthesizer. It is still possible to access the Quicktime samples by using the DLS synthesizer and selecting the Quicktime Synthesizer as your sound font. Old files using Quicktime will be automatically switched to using DLS when they open.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.480 (Aug 16, 2011)

  • Two buttons were added to the bottom of the score window which allow all Solo buttons or all Mute buttons to be turned off.
  • This is a useful short cut for situations when you have engaged several solo or mute buttons and you want to disengage all of them at once.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.477 (Aug 3, 2011)

  • Menu items were added to the Modify / Beam / Beam Extensions menu to allow flagged notes (i.e. single unbeamed 8th notes 16th notes etc.) to have a short beam replace the flag.
  • The Beam Flag Left and Beam Flag Right operations are useful in situations when you want a single note to appear to be linked to a beam on the following system or to a beam on a previous system. The Clear Beam Flag menu removes the beam and the original flag will be drawn.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.474 (Aug 1, 2011)

  • Support for automatic cautionary time signatures and key signatures was added. By default, new documents will have cautionary time signatures and key signatures appear at the end of systems before a time signature or key signature change. During re-formatting of measures on systems, time signatures and key signatures will be removed and added as needed. These objects are not editable - they are part of the underlying score structure. To support these features, new menu items were added to the Modify menu. Under the Time Signatures menu there are 4 items:
  • Score - Enable Cautionary Time Sigs - this engages cautionary time signatures for the entire score
  • Score - Disable Cautionary Time Sigs - this disables cautionary time signatures for the entire score
  • System - Enable Cautionary Time Sigs - this engages cautionary time signatures for the current system only
  • System - Disable Cautionary Time Sigs - this disables cautionary time signatures for the current system only
  • Under the Key Signatures menu there are 4 items:
  • Score - Enable Cautionary Key Sigs - this engages cautionary key signatures for the entire score
  • Score - Disable Cautionary Key Sigs - this disables cautionary key signatures for the entire score
  • System - Enable Cautionary Key Sigs - this engages cautionary key signatures for the current system only
  • System - Disable Cautionary Key Sigs - this disables cautionary key signatures for the current system only
  • For compatibility reasons, old documents will not have automatic time signatures and key signatures engaged (since cautionary time signatures and time signatures may already have been added graphically.) However, if you want to engage automatic time signatures and key signatures in these documents, you can select the Score-Engage Cautionary Key Sigs and Score-Engage Cautionary Time Sigs menus. Parts extracted from these documents will have automatic time signatures and key signatures enabled. If desired, graphical time signatures and key signatures can be generated for the document using menus located in the pull-down menu located on the top-right corner of the Time Signatures and Key Signature panes in the Score Structure panel. If you do not want cautionary time signatures and key signatures generated in new documents, you can uncheck the boxes in the Rules pane of the Preference panel.
  • Staff Label positions for all subsequent systems (i.e. to the end of the score) can now be adjusted by holding down the option key while adjusting a Staff Label arrow.
  • Increased support for lyric dashes was added. In the Appearance pane of the Preference panel, it is now possible to select from three different options for the appearance of the separator between lyric syllables.
  • If you choose "hyphen" then the hyphen character (in the lyric font) will be used between syllables, if you choose "endash" the endash character (usually option-hyphen) will be used between syllables and if you choose dash, a thin line will be used between syllables. The dash option is necessary for non-western font which may not have hyphen or endash characters. If you select dash as an option, you can also set the relative length of the dash with the Dash Length slider. Finally, the vertical position of the underscore (at the end of words) can be adjusted to be higher or lower.
  • It is now possible to export and import the tempo map and playback settings of a score. Occasionally, when multiple files are open, the tempo map and playback settings of a score can get lost. If this happens, you can export the score data from a backup copy of the score and import it into the current document thereby restoring the settings. The Import Score Data and Export Score Data menus are located in the Help menu. This method should be used with caution since importing score data will replace the data currently in your score. None of the material in the score is affected by this operation, but the tempo map settings and the playback settings will be altered.
  • A bug which caused key signatures to disappear in extracted parts was fixed.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.470 (Jul 18, 2011)

  • More improvements to the MusicXML import were made.
  • Menu items were added to the Modify / Beam menu to allow beams to be extended to the Right and Left of the last note in the beam group. Beam extensions are useful to indicate a beam starting in one system and continuing in the next. Beam extensions are additive so you can alter the length of the beam extensions by adding several beam extensions. The Clear Beam Extensions menu removes all Beam extensions.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.462 (Jun 22, 2011)

  • Significant improvements in the MusicXML import and export have been made. There is a new MusicXML menu in the File menu which has submenus for XML import and export. Music xml files should have the suffix .xml in order to be opened by NAPro.
  • An antescofo transport control was added to the Tools menu. This transport is designed for use with antescofo score following - the buttons send reload score, start and play messages through the network to antescofo~ (running in MaxMSP or Pd).
  • The antescofo file export was enhanced to support trill and glissandi.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.455 (Apr 26, 2011)

  • It is now possible to place rectangles, ovals and lines in the background byte using the "Send Import Graphic To Back" or Bring Import Graphic To Front menu items" located in the small pull-down menu to the right of the Graphics Pane. When these images are in the background, they will be drawn before the staves are drawn.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.452 (Mar 3, 2011)

  • Graphic Support:
  • It is now possible to have dotted lines around rectangles and ovals. This is done after the rectangle has been entered onto the score, but selected it (using the bottom-left corner) and using the buttons on Lines pane to set the kind of dotted line you want (there is a solid line and three types of dashed lines) and clicking on the Change Line Type -- it does not matter which line type is visible in the view above since only the dash qualities will be applied to a rectangle or oval.
  • Also added proper support for transparency in rectangles and ovals -- so it is possible to do use overlapping transparencies. The images will be drawn voice by voice and from left to right. Below you can see some ovals with 50% and 25% opacity -- the alpha channel can be set in the colour panel when the colour is being selected.
  • Accidental controls:
  • Now, if you manually adjust an accidental horizontal position, the accidental will retain that position when it is exact pasted, and the accidental (and all other accidentals in the chord) will not adjust when you perform adjustments to the stem or format the page. The accidental positions are also retained when the part is extracted. If you want to free the accidentals from being locked, you can do so by adjusting one of the notes in the chord -- once a note has been moved to a different pitch - the accidentals will be automatically adjusted and will no longer be locked. However, if you just click on a note and do not actually adjust it - the lock should remain in place...
  • Tempo map changes:
  • There is a clear button on the bottom of the tempo map that clears out all tempo information and resets it to q = 120 at the beginning.
  • It is possible to enter duration notes as part of your tempo map -- There is a pull down menu for each setting of the tempo which has note values (sixteenth note through dotted half note).
  • During playback the tempo is displayed in two ways -- one with the tempo against a quarter note and the other with the tempo against the specified duration value.... So, for example if I play back a score which switches to a tempo of eighth note = 68 (in measure three) I will see a display that looks like this:
  • Some modifications to the way lines and crescendo are adjusted was made. Under normal conditions, lines created as piano pedal markings, as well as crescendi and decrescendi will retain their association with the staff they are linked to -- even if the image is adjusted very close to another staff. They can no longer be pulled from one system onto another.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.450 (Feb 8, 2011)

  • Some minor bugs with Custom Key Signatures and dulcimer notes were fixed.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.445 (Jan 12, 2011)

  • The name of the Cresc/Decres submenu menu in the Modify menu was changed to Cresc/Decres/Graphics, and number of items were added to this menu. Using the Score-Select tool, you can select a region of the score (across several pages and systems if desired) and use one of the following menu items:
  • Build Horizontal Line
  • Build Trill
  • Build Octava
  • Build Octava basso
  • to add one of these images to the score. As in the case of crescendo and decrescendo marks, these images will be split across systems during re-formatting. Horizontal lines are created using the line type and line width currently set in the Line pane. Line attributes can later be changed by selecting the beginning of the line and modifying the line using the buttons on the Line pane.
  • A menu item: Toggle Niente Cresc was added to the Cresc/Decres/Graphics menu. This item adds a small circle at the beginning of a crescendo (or at the end of a decrescendo) or removes the circle if one already exists.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.439 (Dec 21, 2010)

  • The ability to alter the angle of crescendo and decrescendo marks (hairpins) was added. By default, hairpins are horizontal, but a 3rd control point has been added so that the entire image can be angled. Since altering the angle of these images is relatively rare, then angle adjustment is normally locked, but it can be unlocked using the small button at the bottom of the score window.
  • When the angle adjustment is unlocked, you can drag a control point centered between the two line ends (i.e. the open end of the crescendo or decrescendo)
  • It is recommended that you keep the angle adjustment locked so that these markings don't get accidentally shifted from there standard horizontal position.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.438 (Dec 6, 2010)

  • Small Mute and Solo buttons were added to the right of every staff. These buttons allow you to more easily single out staves for solo playback or mute staves you don't want to have included in your playback.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.433 (Nov 15, 2010)

  • Multiple Measure rest compression was changed so that multiple measure rests are more compact in width.
  • When you select a segment of the score using the Score Select tool and use the Build Measure Rests menu item (located in the Modify / Rests menu), the beat markers of the measures are hidden and only the barline markers remain.
  • The width of the measures is reduced so that the entire series of measures takes up between 1 and 2 measures depending on your formatting settings.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.432 (Nov 8, 2010)

  • Audio Unit support was extended so that up to 6 Audio Unit Instruments (eg. software samplers, physical model players, analog synthesizer modules) can be used at any one time.
  • This compliments the 6 DLS synthesizers already available.
  • In the Audio Units panel you can select an Audio Unit from those available in your system and then have selected staves of your score access that Audio Unit by choose Audio Unit 1 through Audio Unit 6 in the pull down menu on the left side of the Track Setup panel.
  • Remember, many Audio Unit Instruments are capable of controlling up to 16 different channels with different instruments on them, so you do not normally need more than one copy of an Audio Unit.
  • However, for some software samplers, it may be advantageous to have more than one copy of the Audio Unit loaded.
  • Most recent software samplers can be loaded as Audio Units.
  • NoteAbilityPro preferences remembers the last Audio Unit configuration used, so those Audio Units will be loaded next time NAPro starts.
  • The Audio Unit Panel was re-designed to support multiple audio units.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.430 (Oct 31, 2010)

  • system formatting was improved -- and a bug which extra pages to be created was fixed
  • some problems with accidentals being lost during editing was fixed
  • a menu item which allows intervals to be converted to Artificial Harmonics (with transposition of the lower note) was added to the Modify / Notes menu. Select the two notes (which should be either a P5, p4 or M3 interval) and select the Create Artificial Harmonic menu item. The top note will have its notehead changed to a diamond notehead and will be muted, the bottom note will have its playback transposed by a P12, a P15th or and a M17th. The Remove Artificial Harmonic menu item reverses this process.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.429 (Oct 28, 2010)

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.373 (Mar 25, 2009)

  • Bank changes are now supported during playback.
  • To enter a bank change within a track (staff) use the command b# (eg. b3.).
  • When the staff is played back a bank change message will be sent to the synthesizer.
  • Bank changes are used by several Audio Unit synthesizers for switching between playing techniques on an instrument (eg. switching between arco and pizzicato).
  • As with patch changes, you can disable or enable printing of the bank change markers with a setting in the Other pane of the Preference panel.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.370 (Jan 20, 2009)

  • This version of NoteAbilityPro includes some playback enhancements which include LED displays for visualization of playback levels, re-design of the embedded soundfile playback system and support for recording audio directly from NoteAbilityPro. Two menu items have been added to the File menu: Record To Disk... and Record To Disk From Cursor.... Selecting these menu items brings up a panel which enables you to choose the audio format you want to record in and choose the location on disk you want the file stored.
  • You have a choice of 4 audio formats:
  • Mpeg-4 audio Format - .m4a (a compressed format)
  • Core Audio File format - .caf (a compressed format)
  • AIFF - .aif (a high quality audio format common on Macintosh computers)
  • WAVE - .wav (a high quality audio format common on Windows computers)
  • All these formats are compatible with Quicktime and ITunes. The first 2 formats are highly compressed, so the file size will be approximately 1/10th the size of the AIFF or WAVE files. However, some media players on other computers may not be able to read these compressed formats. Recorded files should sound identical to the score playback since all attributes of the performances (volumes, tempo, patch changes, embedded soundfiles etc.) will be captured in the recording. If you want to burn your recording onto an audio CD, use the Record To Disk menu and select any one of the file formats. Once the recording has completed, drag the file into a new playlist in ITunes, click on the Burn Disc button, and insert a blank disc. On some computers, when recording a particularly complex score you might experience short dropouts in the recording. If this occurs, try quitting any other running applications and changing your preferences so that the score does not scroll from page to page during playback.
  • It is now possible to have dashed staff lines as well as solid staff lines using the buttons on the Staff Lines pane. The change from solid to dashed lines operates both on complete staves and on segments of staves (using the Change At CursorB setting.)
  • It is now possible to include non-standard key signatures in NoteAbilityPro. Up to 2 different key signatures can be created in each score and added freely throughout the document. Custom Key signatures can also be saved and loaded into other scores.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.365 (Oct 22, 2008)

  • A playback metronome was added since some people requested a metronome that could be used during score playback. The metronome can be turned on and off using a button located at the bottom of the score window. The metronome click plays on track 1 using whatever patch is currently set to that staff.

New in NoteAbility Pro 2.34 (Feb 22, 2008)

  • This version of NoteAbilityPro was optimized for OS-X 10.5 (Leopard) and a number of playback and printing bugs were fixed.
  • The DLS audio system was expanded so that up to 6 DLS instruments (each with different soundfonts if desired) can be used simultaneously. NoteAbilityPro Soundfont libraries are being created for use with NoteAbilityPro (and other sound applications) and the first of these -- NAProGM -- is included in this installation. NAProGM is a collection of orchestral instruments and can be loaded and used instead of, or in conjunction with the Quicktime Music Instruments. You can set your default DLS Player in the Sound/MIDI tab of the Preference panel.
  • It is now possible to Import NoteWriter files into NoteAbilityPro for printing, saving as PDF and for doing some minor editing. Further editing options will be added in the future. There is a NoteWriter panel in the Tools menu which allows some basic operations on NoteWriter images.
  • It is possible to Import MusicXML files into NoteAbilityPro. At the moment, not all score elements are imported from the MusicXML file, but over the next few releases of NoteAbilityPro, this functionality will continually be increased. This feature allows score from other notation programs (such as Finale and Sibelius) to be imported into NoteAbilityPro.
  • Breakpoint functions have been added to NoteAbilityPro. These are designed to be used as continuous controls for MaxMSP or PD. Interested users should refer to the helpfiles or contact the author for more information on how to create and use breakpoint functions.
