  • The best release yet! You can now create stunning image layers by importing GeoTIFF files, for example from the NASA Earth Observatory website. Magic Maps 1.3 ships with a Physical World layer, a beautiful artist's rendering of the Earth's surface. Works great as a base layer for thematic maps.
  • Made some interface changes so the program is easier to use than ever. By popular demand the new "Zoom to Fit" button will zoom the map to fit the current selection with just one click. In addition, you can now select layers directly from the Map Style window -- no more clicking back and forth between palettes.
  • There are many invisible changes, too. Magic Maps can import a wider variety of Shapefiles and KML files than ever before, and importing a Shapefile is noticeably faster. Overall performance is now much better when you have a large number of features on your map.
