Mac Backup Guru Changelog

What's new in Mac Backup Guru 6.7

Dec 27, 2018
  • Minor improvements & macOS10.14 Dark Mode support

New in Mac Backup Guru 6.6 (Aug 18, 2018)

  • Fixes a bug that was introduced by more recent versions of macOS whereby on rare occasions the backup would take place on the internal drive rather than an external volume.

New in Mac Backup Guru 6.5 (Sep 25, 2017)

  • macOS 10.13 support & APFS support.
  • Snapshots work on APFS.
  • If you restore a snapshot from an external APFS drive to an HFS+ drive the drive will be bootable.
  • Only unimplemented feature is the creation of a bootable APFS volume. If you back up to an APFS formatted drive that drive will not be bootable.
  • The Finder Extension is no longer enabled by default on the first startup. Some users disliked it so now it has to be manually enabled in System Preferences -> Extensions.
  • The last update had a bug in it whereby the first backup for an Incremental Snapshot and the second backup would both be full backups. Incremental Snapshots would only start to get used from the 3rd backup onwards, not from the 2nd backup onwards like they should have. This is now fixed.
  • The last version developed a bug with macOS updates whereby sometimes mounting a disk would not auto-launch the app to run a scheduled backup if it were overdue. This attempts to fix that.
  • Stops excessive notifications from appearing. This is also a bug that macOS updates introduced by changing the OS behavior.
