  • Preference for displaying timestamps on all tweets instead of only on the selected tweet.
  • Preference for displaying full names instead of usernames.
  • Immunized against Twitpocalypse 3: Snowflake From Hell.
  • You can now disable mentions in the main timeline from users you don’t follow (thanks @gruber). See the Hibari User Guide for more info.
  • You can now filter tweets that are mentions by including your @username in the setting. E.g. if your username is @justin, and you want to block mentions that include the word “bieber,” create a keyword block setting for @justin bieber. (Thanks @justin.)
  • You can now customize Hibari’s timeline appearance with a user stylesheet. You can also enable WebKit’s Web Inspector contextual menu item to understand Hibari’s element structure. See the Hibari User Guide to learn how to customize Hibari.
  • JSTalk support. You can now script Hibari to access the currently selected tweet (-selectedTweet) and post a tweet (-tweet:). See the Hibari User Guide for more info.
  • CSS improvements. When the main window is too narrow, timestamps will now overlap the username instead of wrapping erratically.
  • Improved link detection. Should have fewer false positives and catch a few more cases.
  • Debugging log window can now be closed if accidentally opened.
  • New sections have been added to the Hibari User Guide: Keyboard Shortcuts and Advanced & Hidden Features.

New in Hibari 1.1.2 (Oct 20, 2010)

  • Improved URL parsing. (New multipass URL detection engine.)
  • Bug fixes:
  • Fixed bug where URLs without the “http://” would not open in the browser.
  • Pressing Return while using an input method (such as Kotoeri, for writing in Japanese) no longer triggers a tweet send or new line
  • When deleting a saved search item, the search results no longer appear suddenly in the main timeline
  • Fixed a bug where Twitpic links prefixed with non-lowercase “http://” would, when clicked, cause the page to be opened within Hibari, and cause two other weird pages to be opened in the browser

New in Hibari 1.1 (Sep 21, 2010)

  • What’s New:
  • New app icon!
  • Bit.ly URL shortening. You can access it via the Edit menu or with Command-Option-S.
  • Expand or collapse conversation threads with the right and left arrow keys. Holding down right arrow will expand the entire conversation.
  • Use Command-click to open links in the background.
  • Page through your timeline with Space/Shift-Space.
  • Performance improvements. Hibari should be a lot more responsive during loading.
  • Major foundational improvements that should prevent gaps in the timeline. When fetching new tweets, Hibari will automatically detect and fill in gaps.
  • Hibari now remembers your unsent tweet between launches (thanks @fetjuel, @uliwitness).
  • Added a Software Updates pane to Preferences, where you can adjust your auto-update settings and opt in to getting beta releases from now on.
  • Rudimentary Instapaper support. Right-clicking on links will offer an “Instapaper” menu item if you've entered your Instapaper username and password via user defaults commands (there’s no UI for it yet). Here’s how to enable it.
  • After you send a tweet, Hibari now switches your focus to the timeline.
  • Changed retweet confirmation dialog to a sheet. Renamed OK button to “Retweet” (thanks @gruber). Same thing for delete confirmation.

  • Made some memory-usage improvements.
  • Purchase menu now disappears after you've purchased the app.

New in Hibari 1.0.1 (Aug 22, 2010)

  • You can use Cmd-N to move to the New Tweet field.
  • We now disable the tweet field (and turn the text gray) during the Twitter send process, so it’s more clear what’s going on. (Especially important on slow connections and during slow-Twitter times.)
  • Removed Cmd-1 and Cmd-2 for Favorite and Reply. Now, Cmd-1, Cmd-2, Cmd-3, and Cmd-4 can be used to switch between the four timelines. (If you preferred the old shortcuts, you can configure Hibari in System Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts > (click + button).)
  • Added New Tweet menu item, and removed the unnecessary Save menu item.
  • Increased the “Mark as Favorite” timeout for better experience.
  • Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when you tried to drag images onto webview. (Thanks @rob_rix!)
  • Fixed an assertion error were we try to delete a conversation error as if it were a normal (Thanks @SteveStreza!)
  • Fixed a bug where after loading 5,000 tweets, Hibari would get a lot slower.
  • Fixed a bug where after loading 5,000 tweets, you would get attacked by ancient Growl notifications on every fetch.
