New in Gazelle 12.10 (Oct 8, 2012)

  • Gazelle v12.10 introduces tax inclusive/exclusive pricing, multiple tax rates, per-item tax, cash change, cash rounding, low stock notifications and revamped sale receipt.
  • Tax Inclusive and Tax Exclusive Price Displays:
  • Gazelle v12.10 now allows you to choose whether to show prices as tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive. Tax-inclusive pricing is commonly used in European countries, Australia and Asian countries such as Singapore. In this case, the price tag shows the final price inclusive of prevailing taxes. Tax-exclusive pricing is used in United States. In this case, price tag does not include taxes, and taxes are added only during payment at the cashier. Gazelle v12.10 allows you to choose between the two price display options on a per-branch basis for maximum flexibility.
  • Improved Tax Functions:
  • Previously, Gazelle requires you to define a tax percentage to every branch and supplier. Gazelle v12.10 streamlines this by allowing you to create tax code definitions and assign a tax definition (instead of percentage) to every branch and supplier. In the scenario that there is a tax rate change, you would then need to only modify the tax definition in the new system. Gazelle allows two tax rates for every tax definition and an option to compound the two tax rates. Additionally Gazelle v12.10 now allows you to define tax on a per-item basis.
  • Cash Payments Rounding:
  • In some countries where pennies have been withdrawn for circulation, cash payments must be rounded so that they can be entered accurately in the system. Gazelle v12.10 allows this to be carried out easily, Gazelle will do the rounding for you automatically during cash payments. You can set an arbitrary precision for the rounding (for instance you can choose to either round to the nearest 5 cents or 10 cents). We have also introduces a new report so you can see the total rounding value and hence impact to your finance in a given period of time.
  • Revamped Sale Receipt:
  • Gazelle's sale receipt layout has been updated in this release:
  • On Google Chrome, the print dialog will automatically be displayed
  • An identifying barcode will be printed which allows you to locate a receipt quickly
  • The payment section has been greatly simplified
  • Both the Cash Tendered and Cash Change value are now displayed
  • The name of tax code being applied is printed
  • Low Stock Event:
  • (Pro Only). Gazelle allows you to define low-stock threshold for each item. Gazelle v12.10 now able to send notifications to you, through either e-mail or SMS, if an item's stock falls below the defined threshold. Insufficient stock is a major source of opportunity loss for many retailers. By using this new feature, you can avoid this by making sure that low stock items are replenished immediately.

New in Gazelle 12.09 (Sep 10, 2012)

  • Mass Update:
  • Gazelle v12.09 introduces a much requested feature to mass update entries in Gazelle. For instance, if you have a large number of items, marking up their prices one by one during a price adjustment operation would hardly be feasible. The new Mass Update feature makes this operation a breeze. Gazelle will export existing entries to CSV where you can edit the CSV using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel. You will then reimport the CSV back to Gazelle and all the changes made to the CSV will be instantly applied to entries in Gazelle. Gazelle v12.09 supports mass updating customers, items, stocks and suppliers.
  • Sale Receipt E-mail Template:
  • All along Gazelle has supported the scenario where stores prefer to send their sale receipts through e-mails, going paperless. Gazelle v12.09 brings this feature to a new level by allowing you to customize the e-mail message that will be sent together with the sale receipts. With the pervasiveness of smartphones such as iPhone and Android in recent years, this feature opens up huge potentials. For instance, you can put your Facebook or Twitter links in the e-mail message and the sale receipts double up as a marketing platform.
  • Cash Drawer Money Adjustment:
  • One limitation with Gazelle's cash float feature, that allows tracking of money in cash drawer, is that you can only adjust the money value at the start and end of the day. In reality stores often need to adjust the money in the cash drawer throughout the day. Gazelle v12.09 now supports this scenario, where Gazelle will track the adjustments made throughout the day. Gazelle will then make the final adjustments figure available when you create a settlement to close the day.
  • Gazelle Tutorial:
  • In our continuous attempt to improve the usability of Gazelle, we are introducing the Gazelle Tutorial with this update. Gazelle Tutorial consists of guides that will lead you step by step to perform basic workflows in Gazelle. If you are new users, Gazelle Tutorial is indispensable to get you started with Gazelle quickly. New in Gazelle 12.08 (Aug 8, 2012)

  • Swipe Credit Card with Authorize.Net:
  • Integrates with Authorize.Net Card Present payment processing (Visit http://www.authorize.net for more details). Now, you can purchase readily available credit card reader and use it to swipe customers' credit cards. Gazelle will then process the payment for you through Authorize.Net. All these are happening seamlessly from your views. Best of all, Gazelle will help you to audit all external communications with Authorize.Net gateway to help you settle disputes in case they arise.
  • Desktop Widgets:
  • Widgets are tiny notification windows placed on the desktop (Gazelle main screen). The two main benefits are their visibilities and the fact that they are updated real-time. For instance, Gazelle v12.08 includes Today's Sale Widget that will display the total sale amount right on the main screen. When you score a sale, this widget will be updated instantly to reflect the new value. Not only that, even a sale scored in other terminals will also update this widget instantly. The Today's Sale Widget helps you and your staffs to be constantly aware of the store's performance and strive to meet the sales' goals.
  • Browser Zoom Support:
  • We are seeing the trend where retailers are using larger screens for their point-of-sale needs. When you are using Gazelle on large screens, Gazelle's windows and texts may not be in optimal  sizes. Gazelle v12.08 now supports the Internet browsers' zoom functions. If you are using Google Chrome, hit the Tool button beside the Address Bar and you can see the zoom percentage and buttons. Gazelle ensures that all the windows and texts will scale nicely when you use this zoom function.
  • Stock Value Calculation:
  • Ever wonder what is the total value of your stock and inventory? Many POS systems can't do this or calculate it inaccurately since they often keep a fixed cost price for your items. Gazelle re-calculates your items' cost price on every purchase from your suppliers. If today you purchase Item X for $8 and the next month you purchase it again for $9, your cost price will be averaged to $8.5. Gazelle v12.08 includes an easy way to sum up all your stock cost price, giving you the final figure on the total value of your stock and inventory.
  • Google-Like Search on Customers:
  • When your business grows and has customers in the order of thousands, searching them can be painful. This upgrade introduces a Google-like search on your customer database. Type in his/her first name or e-mail or even handphone number and Gazelle will search for you. Unlike many other systems, Gazelle gives results even before you type his/her full name saving time and increase you convenience.
