  • Please, make you've allowed Full Disk Access for Filepane on Catalina! Otherwise, you'll be getting that annoying "Allow this or that" for almost any file operation on the system. This dialogue pops up once for every new destination. To allow Disk Access, just click a button in FilePane's Preferences or got to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab > Full Disk Access and add FilePane to the list.

  • you can now select your favorite save destination folders for quick image editing feature;
  • added Taptic engine feedback to Drop area for Macos 10.11+;
  • zip utility will now skip hidden files (.DS_Strore, __MACOSX folder and others);

  • This update includes some of your most requested features:
  • you can now rename destination paths in file copy/move menu (just enter the Edit mode and click on the destination path name) OR via "manage destinations" menu in Preferences;
  • batch file rename is now available;
  • you can now create aliases by simply dropping files on the left corner of the "Drop here" window; (you'll see a link/alias icon there)
  • image compression slider in "image conversion" window will now remember its last position (has been set back to 50% earlier);
  • preferences menu now shows the current version of FilePane;

  • Added "quick file copy/move mode". You will see a small "+" area in the top right corner of the Drop Here window. If you drop files there, FilePane will immediately get you to the file copy/move menu with all you favourite destinations.

  • You can now convert PDF to images (PNG, JPEG, BMP, TIFF);
  • Added quick print action for PDF files;

  • you can now keep both files, if a file with the same name already exists at destination path (only Skip or Replace options were available earlier);
  • fixed a bug that caused copy progress freeze, if you physically removed the external Volume, while still running copy/move operation;
  • fixed a rare bug, when in some rare cases and for some external drives, source file could have been deleted.

  • A minor update includes:
  • A fix for a nasty bug, that would cause FilePane to crash in some cases when fetching mounted volumes names; (Bob and John, thank you so much for sending this bug report in!)
  • "Image to PDF" preview is now available! Located in the conversions action sheet.
  • You can preview and edit images before saving your PDF file from the images you've selected. You can also drag-and-drop additional ones directly into this preview window.

  • You can now share files, images and text to any app on the system that has a share extension (Evernote, Encrypto, Pocket, Telegram, Pushbullet and may others);

  • you can now descend in to your favourite folders' subfolders, right there in the file move/copy action panel! Awesome, isn't it? ;)
  • mounted Volumes, disks and their subfolder paths will show up automatically on the list, no need to manually add it now;
  • If you have any external/shared volumes, just add them manually. After FilePane will figure out if they are connected or not by itself and either display their destination paths or hide them from the list;
  • added a separate window to manage favourite destinations; (can be accessed in Preferences);
  • newly added favourites will now show up on top of the list for convenience, you can rearrange/reorder them further;
  • you can now choose 'Drop here" window position in Prefs, so it's either near cursor (default) or in the middle of the screen;
  • rounded corners are back! :)

  • compress images with a 1-100% ratio (high compression ratio may result in lower image quality);

  • REMINDER: Please use it if you do not want FilePane to be triggered within some apps;
  • optimisations with "Drop here" show/hide;
  • if you are using "drag&drop" to activate FilePane, "drop here" window will not show, by default, with image editing apps: Pixelmator, Sketch, Photoshop and other Adobe apps. Just wanted to make sure "drop here" window does not get in your way, in case you have not added them to the Exclusion list. If someone's using the apps above with FilePane, let me know, I'll make an on/off switch for this feature then.

  • image resize, crop can be executed with a push of the Enter/Return button; (Cmd+Z can be used to revert the changes made to the original image);

New in FilePane 1.4 (Jul 19, 2014)

  • now copy/move progress also shows file name and destination path;
  • fixed a rare bug, when permissions stopped working for Documents folder with in some time;
  • fixed a rare "wallpaper missing" bug, which occurred after restart if the desktop picture source image has been removed;
  • "set image as Desktop" feature now stores 3 of your most recent wallpapers, and will replace those as you continue changing your wallpaper via FilePane. You can set the wallpaper and remove the source image, FilePane will store it for you. You can also share your great wallpaper with the world, if you want to.
  • you can now see how much time has FilePane saved you on a weekly and total basis. Note, it'll only start counting the moment you install this update, so at first, it's going to be only a couple seconds. FilePane will allow sharing the time saved only after it's 30 min+. To learn more how is this calculated, please refer to the "how is this calculated" link below the time counters.
