  • Fixed a bug where Drops from an account that was just signed out of would be visible on a new account sign in.
  • Various UI/UX fixes for the Annotate window. It should now feel “snappier” in general between saves.
  • The Annotate window shouldn’t freeze when saving GIF annotations anymore! Thanks for your reports!
  • Hovering on a Drop’s row now reveals the action icons faster.
  • Fixed an issue where the GPU/CPU would go crazy on computers with discrete graphic cards. No more cranking up your fans!

New in Zight 4.2.1 Build 1022 (Mar 9, 2017)

  • Please note:
  • In order to provide you with a better experience using CloudApp, we've disabled sandboxing for the Direct download version of the app. This means that your preferences will be reset once you install this version of the app. To re-enable any custom preferences, please open the Mac app and select Preferences from the Show Menu icon in the top right of your screen.
  • New:
  • Annotate in-app! Our new native annotation mode means you can make markups faster than ever: Add arrows and text. Crop or highlight a section. Even add emojis!
  • Did we mention emojis?
  • Command-Shift-A to capture and annotate in one easy motion.
  • More ways to annotate: Use our handy new annotate icon at the top of the app. Or set ALL your screen captures to open in annotate mode via your preferences panel.
  • More common shortcuts: 1). Use Command-S to save those new annotations you’re creating. 2). Use Command-D to download any drop you’ve selected.
  • GIFs! Have you tried creating GIFs with CloudApp yet? You should. And to encourage you we’ve added a big GIF button to the top of the app. It’s our GIFt... to you.
  • Retina screen? You no longer have to worry about massive screenshots. With our new Upload Resolution preference, either enable full resolution, or autoscale down to 72 PPI.
  • We’ve added a globe icon to take you to the web app. This replaces the CloudApp icon. When you click on it, think of all the places you can go with all the time CloudApp saves you.
  • Are you taking advantage of all that CloudApp has to offer? Creating GIFs, annotations, and more? Our new progress bar lets you know when we launch core new features you won’t want to miss!
  • Fixed:
  • When uploading a drop, our menu bar icon would do this disco thing, showing different colors with a progress bar dancing back and forth. It was well meaning. But weird. Now it’s back to normal.

New in Zight 4.1.1 Build 901 (Sep 27, 2016)

  • Fixed:
  • CloudApp is fully compatible with macOS Sierra. But no longer supporting Mavericks. 4.1.1 is a special final release for you Mavericks users. Future versions will no longer be compatible.
  • Surf report for you Mavericks users: The wind is turning onshore and the sun has set. Time to upgrade your OS.

New in Zight 4.0.1 Build 893 (Sep 16, 2016)

  • New:
  • Excited about the release of macOS Sierra? We are too! We’re pleased to say that CloudApp 4.0.1 is fully compatible with Sierra.
  • We’re now sporting Apple’s “San Francisco” typeface. So CloudApp should feel all the more at home on your beloved Mac. Plus we heart San Francisco. It’s where we’re based!
  • Fixed:
  • We came out with a new logo. Yay! However, soon after the new logo appeared in the Mac menu bar, some of you pointed out that it was the wrong color (that’s very diligent of you, thank you!). Now fixed.
  • Premium paid users get access to our awesome suite of security features (set a password, team access only, auto-delete). However they weren’t getting the “premium” design experience, as the layout of the security modal was off. Fixed.
  • We cleaned up the copy in our “more” menu.
  • “When I upload a file in the Mac app, I want the fill in the menu bar icon to look complete, not janky” -- we liked this developer story written just as is. Down with janky!

New in Zight 4.0.0 Build 878 (Jul 29, 2016)

  • New:
  • Search: Introducing CloudApp Visual Search. Now you can search by file name or OCR (text within an image). You can also search by object (dog) or attribute (blue). Bring your previous drops to life and put them back to work again! Or find that poster you made for your long lost blue-colored dog named “Milo.”
  • Share Settings Part 1: Who can view your drops? You decide. Set a password. Make your drops accessible to a select few. Or set access to within your organization only. CloudApp can do that? Yes.
  • Share Settings Part 2: With our new expiration controls, you can set your drop to expire in 30 days. Or after 30 views. Or by any combination you choose.
  • HTTPS. No one should be eavesdropping on the drops you make. Now you can create and share securely.
  • Analytics: Who’s been viewing your files? From where? How often? Why? Well, we can’t tell you why, but we can tell you a lot with our new Analytics dashboard. Accessible through the Mac app (click on your view counter).
  • New look: Away with you old skeuomorphic design. Say hello to our new UI, logo, and icons. Feels just like a brand new car. Except you don’t have to pay for gas. Or insurance.
  • Bigger buttons. Want to annotate your screenshot? Or grab a quick link? We’ve redesigned the list view with larger, clearer icons. Now it’s faster and easier to get done, whatever you need to get done.
  • Finally! Larger thumbnails. Scan your drops list and find the drop you’re looking for without having to put on reading glasses. And don’t forget, once you select a drop, you can still click the spacebar on your keyboard to see an even larger preview.
  • We’ve added tutorials. Now getting started with CloudApp is easier than ever.
  • Fixed:
  • We hope you’re loving the new drag feature (drag a drop straight from CloudApp into a Keynote file, Slack, or anywhere you like). You may have noticed that if you made a change to that drop (like added an arrow annotation), the change wasn’t being reflected in the file you’re dragging. -We fixed that so now you’ll be dragging the most recent version of the drop. Not the old previously cached one. Who wants that?!?
  • We removed password confirmation during sign up. We removed password confirmation during sign up.
  • Lots of you use Command+Shift+4 to take screenshots. Why? So that those screenshots exist locally (on your computer) AND in CloudApp. There is a catch to this, however. If you change where you save your screenshots on your Mac, they won’t be uploaded to CloudApp anymore. Oh no! Well never fear, if that happens in the future we’ll prompt you to point us in the right direction. We’re doing all we can to make sure your drops arrive to CloudApp with no stopovers, and no delays.
  • Yikes! CloudApp fails to open for some of you on system startup. Fixed.
  • We recently added a handy pause button to your screen recordings. It was great for pausing the recording, but not so great at pausing your allotted time for making a recording. In other words, if you are on a plan that gives you 5 minutes to make a recording, and you paused your recording for 5 minutes, you’d be all out of time. That’s not fair. So we’ve fixed this and made it so that pausing doesn’t affect your allotted time.

New in Zight 3.10.0 (Apr 28, 2016)

  • New:
  • Are you a maniacal perfectionist? This feature’s for you: When you create a screen recording and it’s not quite right, you re-record it. And then you re-record it again. - We’re going to help you out by remembering the last recording window you selected, so you don’t have to start from scratch every time you make a new one. So get that recording just right. Then get back to building your spaceship, designing that new app, or solving the water crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • We hope you’re loving our new direct-drag feature (drag an image straight from CloudApp in your menu bar to Slack, a Zendesk Ticket, Keynote presentation, or whatever else you’re working on). We’ve made direct drag more responsive by adding notifications when you try and drag newly created content that isn’t cached yet.
  • Fixed:
  • Paid plan users can save their GIF and HD recordings straight to their computer. However, this wasn’t clearly laid out in preferences. Now it is. Upgrade today to enjoy this feature!
  • A link needed to be better highlighted in our auto-upload modal.
  • We asked new users for access to their contacts after downloading CloudApp for the first time. Why? Good question. We won’t be doing that anymore.
  • New users should be able to sign up for CloudApp after downloading. That was broken but now it’s fixed.
  • A user with his mic turned off noticed that when he switched between GIF and HD recordings the mic would turn itself on… and that could lead to some embarrassing situations. We can all be grateful that he let us know.
  • CloudApp processes your video recording as quickly as possible. While that’s happening, you have to wait to make your next recording. We’ve added a notification so you don’t wonder why CloudApp isn’t working. The message is: CloudApp is ALWAYS working for you. You’ll be able to make your next recording soon.

New in Zight 3.9.0 (Apr 21, 2016)

  • New:
  • Drag an image straight from CloudApp in your menu bar to Slack, a Google Doc, Zendesk ticket, Keynote presentation, or whatever else you’re working on. Works for GIFs, too!
  • The power of pause. Yes, you can now pause that screen recording you’re making. Grab a cup of coffee, play some Kubb (aka Viking Chess), and then start up again right where you left off. Works for Webcam recordings, too.
  • Copy an image (or GIF) to your clipboard (Copy Content option). Then paste it wherever you like!
  • Working with a team? Invite everyone at once by copy and pasting that list of emails. No more sending one invite at a time.
  • Fixed:
  • Rearranged the icons on the top toolbar to highlight our most popular features.
  • Made it easier to make a GIF or HD recording by making this feature prominent.
  • The download option for users with custom domains is now problem free.
  • Bug that causes some users to lose recordings that were less than a minute.
  • CloudApp now plays well with the handy Bartender app so you can keep your toolbar organized and CloudApp always one click away.
  • You now have access to the screen recording controls even when the recording area is super small.
  • Some users with OSX Spaces reported that clicking on CloudApp bumped them from one space to another. That's fixed.
  • Did you know that you can preview images right in the menu dropdown by clicking on the image, and then your space bar? Well you can, and now those previews will generate even faster.
  • Some users reported that when they took a screenshot, nothing happened. With a little sleuthing, we traced the issue to conflicting dates between the creation of a temporary screenshot and the final png file. Rest assured, we’ve resolved this discrepancy and the entire space/time continuum is back to normal.
