CalendarMenu Changelog

What's new in CalendarMenu 4.0.21

Dec 21, 2023
  • This update fixes several minor issues, among them one which prevented a birthday's contact photo from being shown in event lists. Beside that, the event list popover which is being shown when selecting a day or week from the Widget extension is now placed properly on the main panel's monthly overview next to the selected day or calendar week.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.20 (Dec 17, 2023)

  • This maintenance update fixes several minor glitches

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.19 (Nov 21, 2023)

  • The WidgetKit extension (the one available on macOS Big Sur and later) should now be able to update itself. However, the update frequency of this kind of widget depends solely on update slots assigned to it by the operating system, which in turn takes into account how regularly a widget is being shown. It will increase significantly if the main app is running in the background, so this is highly recommended - albeit not necessary.
  • Besides that, past events in the upcoming events list are now grayed out so you can spot them at a glance.
  • And I've fixed a couple of other, minor issues. Nothing serious though, more like code maintenance.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.18 (Nov 8, 2023)

  • This update should fix an issue which sometimes caused the App not to prompt for access permissions on macOS Sonoma, which in turn prevented the app from showing any calendar events and reminders.
  • Please note: the Widget Extension on macOS Big Sur and later still requires the main app (the one residing in the menu bar) to be running in order to be updated properly, since these kinds of widgets aren't technically able to update themselves all on their own.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.16 (Jul 21, 2023)

  • This update fixes an issue that caused the status bar popover to sometimes lose its focus on appearance when another window such as the Preferences window is being shown at the same time.
  • Please note: the Widget Extension on macOS Big Sur and later still requires the main app (the one residing in the menu bar) to be running in order to be updated properly, since these kinds of widgets aren't technically able to update themselves all on their own.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.15 (Jun 19, 2023)

  • This update fixes a layout issue of event and reminder popovers with very long notes texts

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.13 (Mar 19, 2023)

  • The upcoming event list's contextual menu was missing several list-specific configuration entries
  • Please note: the Widget Extension on macOS Big Sur and later still requires the main app (the one residing in the menu bar) to be running in order to be updated properly, since these kinds of widgets aren't technically able to update themselves all on their own.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.12 (Feb 21, 2023)

  • Fixes another possible crash on macOS 10.15 when the system is configured to automatically change its appearance
  • Please note: the Widget Extension on macOS Big Sur and later still requires the main app (the one residing in the menu bar) to be running in order to be updated properly, since these kinds of widgets aren't technically able to update themselves all on their own.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.11 (Feb 14, 2023)

  • The widget extension (the one available on macOS 11 and later) has gotten yet another configuration option to hide all kinds of event markers in there. This comes in particularly handy for calendars overloaded with event markers due to their sheer number.
  • And several other glitches have been fixed which apparently passed me by in the previous update.
  • Please note: the Widget Extension on macOS Big Sur and later still requires the main app (the one residing in the menu bar) to be running in order to be updated properly, since these kinds of widgets aren't technically able to update themselves all on their own.

New in CalendarMenu 4.0.10 (Feb 12, 2023)

  • Improvements:
  • The calendar group selection for showing birthdays and anniversaries now shows different address book containers as well
  • Several minor UI-related improvements
  • The contextual menu of list views has gotten a few additional entries
  • Bugfixes:
  • Fixed opening calendar events and reminders in their respective system app
  • The status bar panel sometimes showed a wrong year in January for system regions using the ISO 8601 calendar
  • The app's status bar item now uses the correct appearance (Dark/Light) matching the current desktop wallpaper (macOS 11.0 or later)
  • Deselected checkboxes of the calendar and reminder list "View" settings were hardly visible on newer macOS versions
  • On macOS Catalina and earlier the reminder markers were sometimes missing and only shown after clicking into the calendar view
  • Reduced background CPU load a bit, notably on older Macs
  • Ditched the bugging "app rating" reminder inside the list views for good, seems it sometimes still showed up way more often than intended. Sorry about that…
  • Fixes several other minor UI glitches
  • Code cleanup and a few internal optimizations
  • Please note:
  • You may have to reselect a previously selected contact group used for showing birthdays and other reminders
  • The new Widget Extension on macOS Big Sur and later requires the main app (the one residing in the menu bar) to be running in order to be updated since it isn’t able to update itself on its own by design.
