CADEMIA Changelog

What's new in CADEMIA 1.3.6

Apr 28, 2015
  • IMPROVEMENT OF DXF IMPORT AND EXPORT:
  • A number of corrections and improvements were made to the DXF import and export utility.
  • The progress during both import and export is now shown by a progress bar. In version 1.3.1 the component has been optimized on all platforms.
  • After loading a DXF drawing, the graphical window is clipped so that the drawing content is visible. During DXF import the window clipping is not adapted in order to speed up the placement of DXF parts.
  • Furthermore, the rendering of text has been improved by solving problems regarding the interpretation of Unicode and special characters.
  • Another correction deals with the import of SOLID entities that are displayed by default using an area fill in CADEMIA. In earlier versions of CADEMIA this could lead to sub-optimal results, especially during the import of filled complex areas.
  • INSERT entities are mapped to references in CADEMIA. An incompatibility occurring in scaled INSERTs was solved. Since DXF implicitly assumes also the scaling of the text, this can now be chosen as an option in the feature dialog of the references in
  • CADEMIA. During DXF import, text is scaled automatically:
  • Scaled reference with unscaled text leads to incorrect DXF import
  • Scaled reference with scaled text leads to correct DXF import
  • During DXF import a large number of anonymous blocks, whose names start with the *-character, is often loaded in CADEMIA. The list of shown blocks can now be filtered in CADEMIA:
  • Off and on filter for anonymous DXF blocks
  • In version 1.3.1 a bug was fixed that sometimes led to inconsistencies while optionally setting another placement of the imported components.
  • Since version 1.3.5 DXF import supports the undocumented section ACDSDATA. In previous versions such files caused DXF import to terminate.
  • IMPROVEMENTS FOR MAC OS X:
  • When CADEMIA is executed on a Mac computer, its user interface reflects the Look & Feel of this platform. We used the introduction of Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite as an opportunity to improve CADEMIA on the Mac even more. These improvements are based on features of Oracle Java that is available now for the Mac by default.
  • The so-called full-screen mode is now supported by CADEMIA. In this mode the display of the Mac is used optimally since the menu bar is only shown when it is actually required. Full-screen mode can be switched on and off very intuitively using the green button at the top left window corner.
  • Activating full-screen mode in CADEMIA
  • With the available new Java SE versions 8u25 and 7u71, a known problem of CADEMIA with the freely placed input bar has been solved.
  • Another problem on the Mac, namely that the entry of the file name when storing CADEMIA documents or exporting PDF was sometimes only possible after a change in focus, has been solved.
  • A problem that occurred on the Mac, namely that just after launch dynamic window manipulation was sometimes erratic, has been solved.
  • Indicating a modified document using the red window-close button on the Mac is currently not possible. Consequently the modified state is indicated by a star after the drawing name in the title bar, like on all other platforms.
  • The sensitive behaviour of the context menu in case of a free placed input bar is solved since version 1.3.2.
  • Since version 1.3.6 a problem while printing complex fill patterns is solved. This problem was only observed on Mac computers.
  • Improvement of Text rendering
  • When text is less than a certain height on the screen, the text bounding box is shown instead of individual characters. This improves drawing performance. Up to now the text height was computed for the actually rendered characters. As a result, for the same text size the characters 'abc' are rendered while the characters '…' are shown as a bounding box due to their lower height. In the current CADEMIA version a procedure is implemented that is based only on the text size and that leads to consistent results.
  • The text features of groups now also account for text justification and scaling in the text direction. This also has a positive influence on the transfer of ATTDEF and ATTRIB entities during DXF import.
  • When empty text (0 characters) was printed or exported to PDF, these were marked by small, filled circles. This unwanted behaviour has been removed so that empty text is not rendered at all.
  • General improvements
  • A number of other improvements are included in the new CADEMIA version.
  • In the File menu the recently opened CADEMIA documents are shown and can be opened again.
  • Using the Extras menu, parametrised symbol libraries can be downloaded from the Internet.
  • During Drag & Drop the hidden input bar is always shown, so that the actual configuration of the operation can be seen and can be modified. The copy drop cursor is shown if cloning is on.
  • Up to now an error message was shown when the licence server was not reachable. These messages are not shown any more.
  • With version 1.3.1 the splash screen is shown correctly when launching CADEMIA products. Also solved was a problem while updating the GUI where sometimes an exception was thrown due to a synchronization problem. Solved was an erroneous transformation of references to named groups with an explicit placement point.
  • A better procedure for changing the viewport by mouse wheel has been implemented since version 1.3.1. The changes require Java SE 7 or higher which is now the standard on all our supported platforms.
  • If on Linux the input bar was configured to be hidden then the location of the dialog frame could move around whenever it was shown again. This unwanted behaviour has been solved since version 1.3.2.
  • Since version 1.3.3 commands to select and unselect components via their layers are available.
  • The performance of CADEMIA-Test was enhanced in version 1.3.3 for very large drawings. Especially the behaviour of the dynamic zoom and pan of the graphical windows is now nicely reactive.
  • Since version 1.3.5 the previously unused first text field in the title block is available for free usage.
  • When exiting CADEMIA-Test a survey is offered to the user by the standard web browser. This feature was added in version 1.3.6.

New in CADEMIA 1.3.5 (Apr 14, 2015)

  • Solved a problem in DXF that led to the termination of the imported file in case of the undocumented section ACDSDATA.
  • A previously unused text field in the CADEMIA title block has been made available for free usage.

New in CADEMIA 1.3.4 (Mar 27, 2015)

  • The new version 1.3.4 of CADEMIA-Professional -Expert, -Learning and -Test is available now. Substantial enhancements are:
  • Solved a problem for Mac OS X where the standard file dialog window had to be closed manually
  • Fixed a synchronization issue in Drag & Drop
  • Removed the error message if the user decided to not overwrite the file in standard file dialog
  • Better default setting for the comand 'store as ...'
